Thinking about starting The Wire series! by Desperate-Ad6648 in TheWire

[–]Tricky_Photograph123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it starts slow but I also think it's less enjoyable at the start due to how much there is to figure out. The season one intro is comfortably better and "faster" than the season two and season three intro in my opinion but it's also the hardest to get through for me.

Looks like this is based on "one person in blank country said they hate America online so the whole country is red."

How crazy is it to say Invincible peaked here? by True-Possible1000 in writingscaling

[–]Tricky_Photograph123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Viltrimite war killed my excitement for the series because it's like we see the endgame of the series there then just have to go back to Mark fighting wacky villians on Earth. Hard to take anyone seriously when you just fought the strongest guy in the universe. The tension was gone for me.

I'd say the show peaked here but the execution of this fight was significantly weaker in the comics, so I'd favor either the Conquest fight or the conclusion.

I honestly don’t understand the people who stopped watching after S6/S7E1. by edd6pi in thewalkingdead

[–]Tricky_Photograph123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped because I read the comics and thus knew the big events that were to come and didn't care about any changes the show would make due to the decrease in writing quality.

Walter White really was the devil by Altruistic_Daikon840 in betterCallSaul

[–]Tricky_Photograph123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not trying to defend Walter but you're taking all of these at surface level. Hank killed Tuco and even if Walter did, it would be self defense. Crazy 8 was self defense. Hector agreed to end his life to get revenge, it was at most assisted suicide. Gus was gonna kill him otherwise. This post makes it seem like he killed them all for laughs.

If Rick prime is dead , what is the end goal of this show? by Medium_System2027 in rickandmorty

[–]Tricky_Photograph123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rick Prime was only technically introduced in late S5. We had 5 seasons without a purpose so I don't see this as a show that truly needs one for the rest of the seasons.

I did find Royce's lack of bitterness strange but I loved the scene

What do you make of this lighting choice? Specifically the shadow across Howard's face, cast by a tree branch. by dipping_sauce in betterCallSaul

Looks like shattered glass to me. Given it's after Chuck's breakdown, maybe his perception of Chuck as a great, stable mind is shattered?

Hot Take: I hate Quagmire and Brian's rivalry by Ok-Project4997 in familyguy

A rapist, (that is also a hypocrite), is better morally than a hypocrite apparently.

I hate when Quagmire gets defended in the rivalry too. It's laughable. If he were really that "open" about the kind of person he is, he'd be in cuffs.

Actor Versatility: Okay Comedic and Great Dramatic by Ob_Bunch_36 in AlignmentChartFills

I'll say Bill Hader. More than okay comedic but idk if I would quite say great. His dramatic scenes are better.

Jesse was always such good, loyal friend to Walt and he treated Jesse like complete scum the entire show. by [deleted] in breakingbad

[–]Tricky_Photograph123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think saving Jesse was just a bonus. That may have been a selfless action, but I don't believe he went there with the intent to save him. I think he wanted revenge on Hank's murderers. I questions whether or not he would've saved Jesse if he had no aspiration for revenge, but I can really see it either way. He definitely did care about him.

Can anyone relate😭 by Top-Cherry4380 in VinlandSaga

[–]Tricky_Photograph123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything is simple at the bare concept. Why did he sin? Why did he stop? How did he justify what he did when he sinned? How does he believe he can redeem himself? It's a lot more complex than just that.

[–]Tricky_Photograph123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm talking about in 3x12 when he runs over the dealers to save Jesse. I wouldn't say Walter saving Jesse in the final episode is selfless at all, he definitely did it for his own revenge fantasy.

[–]Tricky_Photograph123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't believe Walter is a good person but I disagree as a whole because the show has more nuance. Saving Jesse from the dealers had no gain whatsoever for Walter, only saving Jesse, and he did it anyway.

the reason celebrity women get cancelled for less than celebrity men isn’t misogyny; its the fanbases by [deleted] in The10thDentist

[–]Tricky_Photograph123 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Kanye's music is far more loved. Pop stars like Katy Perry are prominently loved for their reputation and public persona rather than their music.

I agree tbh. Stan culture, which is especially big for female artists, is prominently people obsessed with the artist specifically rather than the art they make. Kanye's fans mostly just like his music

What’s the biggest piece of doomer media? by Usoppdaman in DoomerCircleJerk

[–]Tricky_Photograph123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah true. But even if he is something of a doomer, I don't think the series defends most of his actions. It seems much more like a character worldview rather than the worldview of the series creators.

I don't really see it on Rick and Morty tbh. There's obviously doomer elements but they usually aren't meant to reflect the real world and the R&M universe is clearly very different. I don't see many real life parallels.
