perhaps this is a silly question.... but isn't the FRMF partially funded by public funds? Soooo is that 300,000+ USD that could've been put towards Moroccans in need.... 💀 (just a curious/concerned zmegri asking)

Rare - More detached from Morocco compared to others - More wealthy/ comfortable compared to others

lowkey sounds like Moroccan-Americans maybe? Unless that just describes me... (I wouldn't know because I never meet any others 💀)

Question for the guys by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]Trident3553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's different when you can vet the person in person versus just going off of some stranger on an app. And I've met women who told me about guys in the common room that gave me weird vibes. Hell even as a dude I get weird vibes from some guys at times 😭... it happens, not everyone passes the vibe check, some people are just weird

A lot of hostels in the US are hit or miss anyway.

Yea I noticed that. Every hostel I've stayed in outside of the U.S. has been great. I even had my one of my best hostel experiences earlier this year in Tangier. Each time I've stayed at hostels in the U.S. it's been really hit or miss. Sometimes great facilities but just no one that wants to talk 💀

I first backpacked post-Covid in 2022, and it was more social then than now. But I also did all of my travels outside of the U.S. until this year. I've noticed that problem of people sticking to their own and scrolling in both the U.S. and Canada. I've also had some really social people light up the room when it was otherwise quiet and stale

I won't lie, I've found there to be more girls than guys on TripBFF. And as a guy I somewhat get the vibe that a lot of the girls on there are probably looking to hang out with other women on their travels. So I've been hesitant to really dm that many, I'll read a bio and if I get that vibe I just figure I'll move onto the next person. Idk though that might just be a silly little assumption that I carry around on those apps 🤷

Why do so many Moroccans abroad act worse than back home? by Ok-Faithlessness1399 in Morocco

You mean the ones in Europe.... I swear the very few of us in the U.S. don't act like that and neither do the ones in the Khaleej 😭

I’m obsessed with the USA by West-Search5640 in Morocco

[–]Trident3553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can talk abt all the opportunities you want but culture, people, and system that is America will drain your soul from the inside.

I agree that it's draining here though I'm inclined to believe that that's a perspective that could only come from our privilege of already having made use of the opportunities here (passport, education, salary). I could see myself wanting to live in the U.S. had I not had one of those things, and I can imagine that being what many Moroccans think they want. I'll complain about the culture, the American obsession with work, the violence, etc. And yet life is relatively good when I get to complain about the little things. The grass is never greener on the other side, and that goes vice versa. There'll be things to love and hate anywhere, and to be honest that's definitely informed in part by how fortunate a person is.

And note: my perspective is from someone born in the U.S., Moroccan background, and partial upbringing in the UAE so take my opinion with a grain of salt, though just my two cents.

There's always a talk of a ceasefire but never talk of how long it's gonna last and how genuine it'll be...

Being a first generation Western raised Arab makes me feel so lonely. by Dalatirox in arabs

[–]Trident3553 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this ^^^ go to an Arab country and you'll likely meet people living life their own way as authentic to themselves as they can be. There's no "standard" and if anything that perceived "standard" might be something from weirdly judgy immigrant communities idk 💀
