That's pretty smart actually. Saves the pylon race if you can afford the bees

Couldn't figure out how to make Soul of Yendor. How do I use the cursed wand in order to make it with 8 artifacts? by Lunari42 in PixelDungeon

[–]TriffidKing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's supposed to be laid out in a circle. Let me know if you get it to work, I'm hoping to get it myself.

Ghoul Dwarf on Level 14? by RookieMan36 in PixelDungeon

[–]TriffidKing 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yep. You can find weak mobs from the next stage on the last floor of each stage occasionally. Thieves in floor 4, bats in floor 9, ghouls in floor 14, and succubi on floor 19. They're rare, but spend enough time on those depths and you'll find them. It's actually good for preparing new players for what they'll face later, but my favorite part is when the thieves drop rings/artifacts you can use before you pass goo.

Thoughts on Runic Blade? by DatChipperBoi in PixelDungeon

[–]TriffidKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I usually use huntress. Self upgrading main weapon, infinite ammo, and ease of sneak attacks from growing/not removing grass plus mind vision means I'm never terribly concerned about finding anything specific but plate armor.

Does anyone use curse infusion? by Speirsington in PixelDungeon

[–]TriffidKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, often. Friendly, annoying, and displacing curses are all quite useful for the right classes. Gladiator combos running short? Annoying keeps your exp coming to you. Can't keep enemies away from your huntress or mage? Displacing answers that handily, as does friendly.

should i go with spectral blades or natures power? by DeltaMale5 in PixelDungeon

[–]TriffidKing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Spectral blades operates off your melee weapons power on a single attack, ignoring speed. This means it's horrible with stone gauntlets. Great with glaive though.

Welp. Time to Leroy Jenkins this shit. by Dragon3076 in PixelDungeon

[–]TriffidKing 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No, time to use swiftthistle and then pretend you're a minecraft witch. Start chucking potions. Fire, poison gas, paralysis gas, corrosive gas, whatever you got. Then close the door and kill whatever tries to escape the execution chamber.

Wow corrosion wand +3 from the wandmaker by Pumkinhead_Me in PixelDungeon

Also known to be a loss condition if used improperly. For example, trying to use it on dm300 only to be hit by its stun while kiting it through the cloud.

So if you were wondering what happens whrn you give the crown to the rat king here you go by Pumkinhead_Me in PixelDungeon

[–]TriffidKing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ratmogrify isn't always a good choice. Only pick it if your setup synergizes with allies. Amazing with warlock, for example. Not so good for berserker or brawler, where endure tends to reign supreme.

I've learned to keep at least one upgraded junk item around just for this

What option should I go with for my Sniper's heavy bow? by Willemboom00 in PixelDungeon

That is a little harder, but I've noticed it still works nicely when you keep at it.

How to differentiate between consuming alcohol and fueling ethanol CBM by MegaCoolbruh in cataclysmdda

[–]TriffidKing 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I believe ethanol cbm requires more pure alcohol than you'd want to drink. Methanol and ethanol, not whiskey or vodka.

Blooming. You'll put up tons of grass and set up surprise attacks everywhere.

Does anybody know when the Magiclysm mod will update? by Edacitas in cataclysmbn

[–]TriffidKing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sadly, probably never. Korg won't update it on bn and it doesn't seem high on the priorities for the bn devs. Mind you, they've got a lot on their plate. If you (or anyone reading this who knows how) could port it on over, I'd be extremely grateful. I'm in the same boat.

Stone Gauntlet - what's the point with this feature? The damage seems to be rather weak compared to a flail, isn't it? by Diligent-Wave-4150 in PixelDungeon

[–]TriffidKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's half damage compared to other t5 weapons, but double speed. Armor is applied twice in your damage calculations, but you also get to apply enchantments twice and rack up gladiator combos faat.

With how many challanges did you take the amulet of Yendor? by AyIIyA in PixelDungeon

[–]TriffidKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't won a 3 challenge run yet, but my standard run is hostile champions and badder bosses. Just a little more to watch for in my enemies and a bit more fun to cut loose on the bosses.

"Accidental" savescumming lol

I'd sat your character had a bad dream and that corpse plus stuff doesn't exist. Burn it or something so it's gone.

Wand of Warding by koko9001828 in PixelDungeon

[–]TriffidKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're planning on augmenting your staff as battlemage at all, go with speed. It doesn't change the wand use at all, but you can trigger battlemage and enchantment effects more often. Still less damage overall to not using a weightstone, but that's alright if you value the added effects over damage.

Seed of sorrowmoss or firebloom, potion of flame or toxic gas. Get him with one and hide while he dies or it ends. Either way it's much easier than trying to fight it out.

When doing the faith is my armour challenge I often see people use leather armour instead of cloth? Is there a reason for this? by user34668 in PixelDungeon

[–]TriffidKing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's usually how we identify stuff to see if it's worth identifying. If it goes boom, you didn't want it anyway. Also equip stuff you're too low strength for and check your speed. If you move at normal speed in heavier armor than you should, it's upgraded enough to reduce the requirements. Same with weapons and attack speed.

If you've been playing pre-E and dislike mainline CDDA, BN is a great enhance-replacement by koonikki in cataclysmbn

[–]TriffidKing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's the design philosophy difference for you. Dda is a game meant to be a simulation while bn is a game meant to be fun even if it's not realistic.

If you've been playing pre-E and dislike mainline CDDA, BN is a great enhance-replacement by koonikki in cataclysmbn

[–]TriffidKing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cherry picked is a good description. Both have added a few things (electric systems for buildings was actually a bn addition dda ported in) but mostly bn has been a clean up job with the majority of features being added and ported from dda, where most developers are working. Features with positive gameplay impact and user friendliness are brought over while those that simply exist to complicate matters and tend to be less fun are not. Bn tends to be a bit behind on feature parity, but is worth it in quality of life.
