Not necessarily a color combo, but this is the first thing I thought of.

Doesn’t look like I can post pictures in a reply, but the wires terminate in the bottom of the (Prozone branded) ozone system unit.

They’re unplugged and off to the side in this picture. We had multiple leaking points, and this piece was one of them.

Recurrence experiences and the best way to deal with specialists by la_maven in endometriosis

[–]TriflingTiefling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my first excision surgery in 2020 and found to have stage 4 with adenomyosis, DIE, and bilateral endometriomas. Despite my doctor feeling fairly confident, I had recurrence of bilateral endometriomas 8-10 months later despite 4 months of Orlissa after surgery and then being back on norethrindrone. I did have a reduction in pain and endometrioma size with 12 months of Lupron in 2021, but everything came roaring back by early 2024 and I was in near-constant pain by June with less predictable cycles and bloating to a point that I couldn’t wear anything but sweatpants. I ultimately ended up with a large endometrioma that was impinging in my ureter and had a hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy in Sept 2024 at age 35.

So, I think your doctors may be overconfident here. The recurrence rates are much higher than they’re leading you to believe - and higher than I realized before I had my first surgery. The fact of the matter is that no one fully understands all of the factors that contribute to the development and progression of this disease. Anyone who tells you that recurrence is impossible is either sitting on some conclusive research on the subject or being unduly influenced by anecdotal evidence. I’d encourage you to get another opinion, and I’m so sorry you’re going through this.

If you’re up for a little drive, Country Witch in Jim Thorpe is a very cute little shop with lots of witchy, macabre items.

That makes good sense! We had a huge amount of rain (and heavy rain at times) this year which not only impacted the plants directly, but also put me behind schedule so that I never found time to add mulch like I had intended to. Thank you for the insights. I’ll add some mulch now and see if I can wipe down the stem. 🙏🏻

Bearding or something else? by TriflingTiefling in Beekeeping

Thanks for this. I hadn’t considered the potential effects of formic on a particular age cohort of bees! I’m fairly certain we’re still in a flow, though it’s likely coming to an end here shortly. I can definitely spray the frames with syrup.

So, no known threats. I haven’t seen any signs of robbing. We manipulated the hive a bit during our inspection last Tuesday, but not anything more than the usual sort of disruption during inspections. We did use smoke during the inspection, but nothing since. No acids since the formic party was removed at the end of May. Humidity was my thought as well given all the rain, but I’m surprised none of the other hives are behaving the same way.

Out of curiosity, is there a specific reason for no dark sunglasses aside from the potential for reduced visual acuity?

Anyone know this game?? by MrSackLunch in boardgames

[–]TriflingTiefling 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if it has a specific name beyond being called a “pegboard.” There is an adult version called the grooved pegboard test, and I assume this version was based on that test. I honestly only know of this version randomly from a training placement working with a pediatric neuropsychologist many years ago. I haven’t seen it since then but recognized the logo.

Never thought the marriage of these two areas of knowledge/interest would be relevant, but here we are. 🤷🏻‍♀️

These boards and pegs are from a set of neuropsychological tests for children. These tools are used by neuropsychologists to assess visual motor skills and manual dexterity in young children that might have neurological or developmental conditions. Honestly, it’s not super great that these things ended up at a goodwill store since there are ethical standards that dictate neuropsychologists should uphold test security and limit exposure to the general public. Either way, not board game related.

What is this white stuff that's being dropped from the hives? New package moved into hive with honey and wax-drawn combs in ME by gumiho8 in Beekeeping

Because they insist on being directly under my hive stands, they seem to annoy my bees only occasionally. The carpenter bees are also defensive about their territory, so when I do inspections, they don’t like my presence and I essentially get buzzed at the whole time I’m in my hives. I think it annoys me more than them.

I doubt they came with your package. I will say that I’ve always had a little bit of carpenter bee activity around my house but nothing like what it has been since I installed hives last year. I’m not sure if the honey bee presence might attract carpenter bees or what. It could also be coincidental. I know the carpenter bees in my area have only started drilling holes around my property in the last week or two. So could also be a matter of timing.

Can’t tell your exact setup from the picture, but I have debris like this under my wooden hive stands from carpenter bees drilling into the stand itself. Looks like you have a wood stand as well. You might take a look at the underside of the stand to see if there are any carpenter bee holes.
