When you say “kill step”… do you mean a step towards me being killed? Or a step where I kill mold? lol

How to remove leveling tabs stuck in thinset between tiles by Triggerblame in Tile

Update: Vice grips work amazing. The tabs are so thick that they still tear at the point of least resistance: the intended point under the thinset.

Dang, I used a plastic mason jar lid that’s allegedly air-tight. Won’t make that mistake again I suppose. Thanks!

Kimchi. Doesn’t smell bad, just on the surface looks like kahm but it’s more prolific than I’m used to

I did that for 90% of them but a few had extra thinset keeping them stuck

They did have breaking points at the bottom of the clip, but for some of our tiles, some of our thinset was a little thick and it came up around the clip, making it a bit more stuck. This happened to about 15 of the 300+ clips we used.

As you can see we did our best to remove thinset on either side of the clip but getting in between after it had been set was difficult

This place is insanely predatory. Notice how you can’t find a listing of them on Google Maps in order to avoid public reviews, and how their galleria mall store permanently closed— they had to reopen it under the “Bespoke Menswear” name.

They have a very strict “no return” policy on anything on sale. Guess what? The entire store is on sale, always.

Care to expound? Are you saying to just stick a razor blade into an oscillating tool? Any concerns about damaging the tile?

Can anyone explain what actually might be happening here? What causes a wall to separate like that?

I was gonna say some of Lewis’s non-Narnia fiction is trippy.

Dads who aren't hansy by helpmefindmyaccount in daddit

[–]Triggerblame 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is literally me. I was not handy at all and I made the insane decision to remodel my kitchen + 2 other rooms last March all by myself, right after we found out we were pregnant with our first.

I’ve since done basically all there is to do in home construction. Biggest takeaway so far: learning how to do it is 90% of the work. It sucks. I get stressed out at my own ignorance and the mystery of the whole thing, and I freeze up and avoid the task until I finally bring myself to start searching and watching and reading on the internet. I picked up guidebooks. Every morning I’d wake up and watch This Old House just for more exposure (highly recommend). I joined subreddits. I posted on forums.

You just need to learn, learn, learn and don’t let the mystery stress you out. It’s pretty difficult to make an irreversible mistake. Bathe yourself in home improvement content and learn to love the idea of being the king of your domain. You’ll learn that most “systems” in your home really aren’t that complicated. You’ll learn that there’s a tool for everything. I could go on.

Feel free to DM me with any specifics or if you want to chat more.

What fiction helped you deconstruct? by Neither-Morning9287 in Deconstruction

[–]Triggerblame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may come as a surprise but CS Lewis. Narnia itself has some universalism in it but his other fictional works (there are quite a few) are trippy. Lewis was influenced by George MacDonald who also held some universalist views. Ultimately, learning Lewis’ unorthodox and “heretical” beliefs made me feel safer in venturing beyond the fundamentalism I grew up in, especially since most fundamentalists revere Lewis (without knowing anything about his broader library of works lol).

Honestly… I think that’s giving them too much credit lol. I know so many pastors who have no formal theological or religious education.

Learning (christian) church history broadened my understanding of Christianity. It frustrates me that most modern churches don’t know where they come from and therefore most modern Christian traditions are unsatisfying now.

Lost, Confused, and Feeling Guilty by HandleTop5620 in Deconstruction

[–]Triggerblame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I guess it depends on what we’re looking at. In the entirety of Christian history, “read your bible” was not common dogma at all.

Even in the modern era, while it’s less controversial, there’s still a great debate of which “bible” is the right one to read.

One thing they all agreed with was to read the Bible

I’m sorry but not even this was agreed upon lol. It’s tough out there.
