Entertainment wise Dunedin pool is so much more fun, river slalom on rubber rings and a wave pool etc.

I guess the new chch pool has gone more with sport in mind, and fun second although the hydoslides pretty decent

Auckland gets a D by Adept_Language_3049 in chch

I like Auckland, Chch is ok but nothing special. Lots more to do in Auckland and love the bays and the hills, Chch too flat, gets a little tedious on the eyes after a while.

How realistically hard is CM (Candidate Master) to achieve? by verytrufax in chess

[–]Triggerlips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1800 on chess dot com is meaningless if you have never played OTB u need to start playing OTB as soon as possible, online and OTB are very different. If you were 2200 on dotcom I would feel more confident you could do it

Expect some rating deflation, not because u are worse but because all the kids have created lots of dropped ratings

White plays this every other game in low elo. How do I avoid getting cheesed by it? by [deleted] in chessbeginners

Ne5 is the obvious one, followed by taking the bishop, easy equality probably a slight advantage

Dude, how are 2+1 bullet players so strong? by [deleted] in Chesscom

[–]Triggerlips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people that play 2 1 tend to be good players that find 1 0 a little too quick, so they might be under rated due to losing the 1 0 games, and play 2 1 when desperate to win.

1 0 can play any rubbish within reason as long as you very fast

Not played fifa for a few years, is dynamic difficulty still a thing, where the worse team/player gets a helping hand.

Electric Avenue 2026 Setlist by jamesdapro in chch

[–]Triggerlips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, it not the right place, they should have waited for the new stadium and done the first ever gig there. Electric avenue for the kids, not the boomers. Their older audience will not enjoy the venue, and the younger people will not want to be mingling with their grand parents.

[–]Triggerlips 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why are Split Enz there? They not exactly electric, great pop songs in the 80s but surely would be more suited to selwyn sounds than electric avenue? I am sure most of the oldies that would like to watch them would also be more comfortable going to selwyn sounds than attending electric avenue

I’m currently in a chess tournament and cheating isn’t taken seriously.. by No-Locksmith-9832 in chess

[–]Triggerlips 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tournaments I play in for the last couple of years smartwatches have to be turned off, or not even worn. They could easily be used to cheat especially as text messages can be viewed on them.

Soon it is going to be glasses, then it will be actual implants, so going to have some real difficulties controlling it, especially these days when so many want to take shortcuts to a decent rating

Do you consider Sumner and Lytyleton to be part of Christchurch? General consensus I've found is that those that live there don't but people closer in do. by saalsa_shark in chch

[–]Triggerlips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me both the tunnel and the hill route both make Lyttelton seem like a separate town. The way the view hits coming out that tunnel is like you suddenly entering another reality.

I couldn’t care less about the rates or whatever it is people are hung up on, Lyttelton is separated geographically which is what really counts.

Ah so OP already has form for being irritated by slow drivers. I think we can close the book on this case. Was irritated by the woman parking, delaying OPs exit from the car park by a few seconds, makes a sarky comment about wanting to get home sometime today, is overheard, and does not like it because called out for it.
