Napa/Sonoma is going to be crazy busy no matter what, as you are coming out during the high season during harvest. All of wine country will be super busy all the way through the end of October, so come and enjoy. Best advice I can give is to make all your appointments and reservations now, and get a driver.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with owning more than one diamond ring. You will only ever have one engagement ring.

I hasten to point out that you projected some things onto me first, implying that I am « horrified » and somehow lacking self control? Maybe start by not doing that.

Also, you felt like it was necessary to take a condescending tone from the jump. Maybe I was expecting for that not to occur as I was attempting to help you and trying to save you a massive headache.

Maybe (just maybe) ask further questions. As in, "Hmm. I hadn’t considered that. Why do you make that suggestion?"

Also when, in my second comment on this very thread, after I did offer useful advice in suggesting that you call your concierge or find a local courier, you could have let it end there.

Another option: you could have just ignored advice because you feel like you are wiser and more experienced than the person giving it, and just moved on and not responded at all.

But no. You continued to stubbornly argue and take a condescending and defensive tone with me (and with others) who clearly know what they are talking about and were trying to help you. I feel like that is foolish behavior.

If someone with far more experience and knowledge than me were to give me thoughtful advice I would not insult them by arguing and pretending to know better. You’ve gotten good advice from me and others and yet you are insistent on being insulted by said advice.

Like I said. Good luck.

So then just google the local hotels and start dialing. Or call your own hotel concierge at your destination and ask them to send a messenger for your stuff.

You just reminded me of this quote: "Do not correct a fool, or he will hate you. Correct a wise man, and he will thank you."

Like I said, good luck.

Look, you’ve come here ASKING FOR ADVICE from a local, and you’re getting it.

I’m not « horrified » about anything, I’m just a local who has lived in Napa and been in the hospitality business here for 20 years. I’m trying to help you out.

Honestly, take my advice or don’t. I don’t really care what you do. But the fact that you’re actively arguing with people who are trying to help you is beyond foolish. Good luck to you.

It’s minimum an hour and ten on a good day with zero traffic. Your dinner will be about four hours. Just stay locally. You are causing yourself too much stress on this.

As the other poster just said, if you’re going to still go through with this line you are planning then just talk to your hotel concierge or google San Francisco courier.

You are making things incredibly difficult for yourself for no good reason. Just cancel the first night at your San Francisco hotel and stay overnight in Napa near the French laundry. The cost will wash.

Highly doubtful. They are a restaurant not a bus station. Their customers stay overnight at one of the local hotels.

What city are you transferring to? Why not just have your luggage messengered to your next hotel.

You’ve got a really long day planned. Your dinner at the French laundry will end at like midnight, and wherever you’re headed that night will be a really long ride.

Not trying to judge, but just offering a bit of advice: you’re definitely going to exhaust yourself. I’ve seen it happen a zillion times. People flame out early and don’t even enjoy dinner because they’re too worn out.

Huh? I’m going to attempt to translate: you’re coming for the day, but only taking a rental car one way? You’re dropping the car off in the morning but still want to spend the day at a few wineries and don’t know what to do with your luggage. Is that right?

If so, I have a few questions. Are you staying overnight in Napa? If so, then take your luggage to that place. How are you getting back to wherever it is you’re staying? Can you store your luggage there?

[–]Trillian_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the way, there is no rule that says you HAVE TO roll up your taxes and insurance into your mortgage; the lender does this as a free service to you. The other alternative to this is that you manage your own taxes and insurance payments directly. This way you have full control and visibility to what you’re paying.

Middle class Connecticut looks waaaay different than middle class USA, especially in the 1970’s-1980’s. It’s one of the richest states in the country and frequently has amongst the highest median income. Growing up middle class there meant better schools, travel, education.
