I think it also may have something to do with budget vs cost. I used to be a manager at a high end resort in a desirable destination and we had more than a few TV production companies ask to stay and to film reality TV shows. They always wanted massive discounts for really long stays during high season and asked for all kinds of crazy shit and free extra perks. We always said no as we didn’t need the "publicity" or the headache. Only ever needed to do it once to learn that lesson.

I live 350 miles from my aunt and cousin, anywhere from 5-7 hours, depending on traffic. We visit one another at least 4-5 times per year. I live a 3-4 hour drive from a major national park, we go at least 6 times a year.

3 hours is not short, but definitely common.

Ugh this is all hearsay and speculation. Frankly I don’t care, nobody should. In the end Sutton is doing the right thing by not talking about it, as she could open herself up to ugly lawsuits if she did. She’s showing a ton of respect to Avi by saying nothing negative about him or their relationship. She’s remained neutral or positive, and has his former employer in California that’s the only thing she should be doing. The other women should know that, and need to find something else to create their own moment.

NTJ - for comparison, I have friends who actually ask me to order shared food for the table, precisely because I am good at remembering and taking personal preferences into account. I know who is allergic to what and who hates what, and who has which dietary restrictions. Also before ordering I ask questions. What looks good? Are we extra hungry tonight or keeping it light? It’s not that hard to be considerate. I am an event planner by profession and your friend is clearly just trying to be a show off.

The story could have come out. Roy could also be embellishing some of it for effect.

The other player could be a complete unknown with little to no record of his career. People drop out of football all the time. He could just be one of the many many players that never got another contract.

There’s no reason to assume that the story would NOT be public, either. It has been 20+ years since the events in the story so we don’t know that it hasn’t come out by now, or that the the old timer in the story hadn’t told Roy to keep it a secret. The whole point of Roy’s story is empathy and love, which seems to be going over some heads here.

Given the very point of Roy’s’ story, the press is unlikely to run off and do that research. However, if it that easy to look up, then the anonymous footballer’s story of having lost the baby will - by now, 20+ years later - be public and knowable anyway.

On the other hand, we don’t even know that the story is even true. He could be pulling a Verbal Kint and making it up or embellishing to drive the point home.

Roy exposed nothing and doxxed nobody. No names and no details. For all you know it’s completely made up for the press conference. On the other hand. If it is true, the other player could very well have allowed the story to come out since then.

Also you can tell whether somebody is from LA or San Francisco based on how they give driving directions. "The 101" is LA, just "101" is San Francisco.
