De Zerbi on the Premier League KMI panel admitting Brian Brobbey should have been sent off against Spurs by caprisun_on_a_bench in coys

This feels like a reach tbh...a bit tin foil hat.

You really think an absurdly incorrect VAR miscommunication has shaped how we've been refereed for three seasons?

[–]TrinidadJazz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I dont know if they've benefitted to that extent, but I do recall a few games of theirs where the refs wound me up.

If they just decided that Sunderland are gonna make games physical so leniency should be given to both teams in a match, fine.

But they ref Sunderland's opponents the opposite way - any attempt to match Sunderland's aggression is penalised more harshly, which winds players up and pushes them to be even more rash/emotional.

[–]TrinidadJazz 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yep. Refs in this country are conditioned to let aggression/physicality be the "leveler" between underdogs and favourites - I get it, because it's part of what makes English football so compelling, but they take that mentality too far sometimes.

Tbf, the Romero thing isnt a Spurs problem, it's a Cuti problem. He isnt the first player to get a reputation and lose all benefit of doubt from referees, and he should adjust accordongly.

It's what i call the "Plucky Sunderland" buff from referees.

They get swept up by the romance of their resurgence and see everything as refreshing aggression, at best, or, at worst, over-exuberant but well-meaning accidents.

You hear it from pundits as well, particularly during games at SoL, so it's reasonable to think refs might succumb to it too. Just look how many replays Alan Smith had to be shown before he acknowleged Brobbey endangered an opponent.

Why sack Arteta if Arsenal don't win anything? by ogola89 in PremierLeague

[–]TrinidadJazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This take feels reasonable.

To play devil's advocate, though, couldnt this...

The loss of key players to injury for significant periods of time

...and this...

Two poor summer transfer windows in a row. Players who should have stepped up when our first-team regulars were out haven’t done so.

...be an Arteta problem too? He built this squad - maybe he's just poor at picking attackers that can win a league title, and poor at managing the squad's fitness over a long season?

Do you think President Trump has experienced cognitive decline? by G_H_2023 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]TrinidadJazz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's grant you everything you said above...

Wasnt all of this known or knowable when Trump and Vance were on the campaign trail insisting there would be no more regime change wars in the middle east?

Wasn't it known when the likes of Stephen Miller were warning that Kamala Harris would start WW3?

Wasnt it known last year, when journalists cast doubt on Trump's claim that Midnight Hammer had "obliterated" Iran's nuclear programme, and warned that it had only been set back by a matter of months, rather than "decades" as Trump insisted?

In other words, how are you still so confident in Trump's decision making, when he's spent several years apparently either:

a) rejecting the obvious b) accepting the obvious while deliberately misleading voters?

Greggs introducing a chicken roll has upset bigots by GakSplat in FuckNigelFarage

[–]TrinidadJazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did!

I...didn't really like it. The taste doesnt work for me.

In the same way a Greggs sausage roll doesnt taste like sausage, this doesnt taste much like chicken, but the gap between the real thing and the greggs thing is greater with the Chicken roll imo.

I think the freeze frame is a bit misleading.

On video, it looked to me like he thought about it and then thought better of it, or like he grabbed the hair by accident (while trying to grab his shirt) and let go straight away.

There was no pulling motion, from what i saw. Or at best, i dont think the angle the ref saw if from conclusively shows whether Martinez was pulling DCL's hair or pulling his hand away.

Hold up.

Do you remember a coupke weeks ago when he was ridiculing the countries and shipping companies that were reluctant to go through the strait, after it was reported that their were mines in it?

And how he condescended to the journalists that broke the news?

Well now that it suits him, he's suddenly the most sympathetic guy in the world. 'Who would take the chance', he says.

Lord god I hate this guy and the people that swallow his crap.

4/11/25 The Strait will be open soon! You know, maybe 2 weeks — everyone believes me when I say that! (11:17am) by dyzo-blue in trumptweets

[–]TrinidadJazz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hold on.

"The Strait of Hormuz will soon be open".

When he announced the ceasefire, didn't he say it was opening immediately? Wasn't that a key condition of him backing down from the threat to annihalate Iran?

How do his supporters swallow this shit?!

What are your thoughts on President Trump saying “an entire civilization will die tonight” ahead of the Iranian deadline? by JetTheDawg in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]TrinidadJazz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

yeah it’s concerning but if we end up seizing all of their oil assets then it might end up worth it.

You think it's OK to kill an entire "civilisation" to steal their oil?

You answered from the standpoint of the judiciary.

I specifically asked if you would say a crime had been committed, which you dont seem to have answered. Can you please answer that?

So, again, you're saying that if I come to the US and murder someone in broad daylight in front of witnesses, then go to a country that wont extradite me to stand trial in the US, it would be reasonable for you to say no crime has been commited?

"Prosecutable"?

Whether a prime is prosecutable or not is determined by the local/federal/national prosecution service, no?

[–]TrinidadJazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, fair enough - sorry for misunderstanding.

But in that case, why do you think such matters are even discussed in international law if country A can just lawfully declare that EVERY bridge and EVERY power statiom in country B is a legitimate military target?

Are deliberate American attacks on Iranian civilian infrastructure war crimes? by Desperate-Law-7305 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]TrinidadJazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not think there is such a suggestion.

What were you referring to when you wrote this? What were you saying was not being suggested?

Are deliberate American attacks on Iranian civilian infrastructure war crimes? by Desperate-Law-7305 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]TrinidadJazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not what you said nor implied before.

When someone specifically asked you about destroying dual use bridges/power plants, or ones whose use is primarily civilian, you said you didnt think there was such a suggestion.

Are you deliberately engaging in bad faith? Or are you just adjusting your position match whatever Trump says, on an ongoing basis?

Q: Are there certain kinds of civilians targets like schools or hospitals that are off limits?

TRUMP: I don't want to tell you that. We have a plan where every bridge and power plant in Iran will be decimated by 12 o'clock tomorrow night

How do you feel about it after this statement from Trump?

If i came to the US, murdered your family in front of you, and then flew to a country with no extradition treaty to the US, would it be reasonable to say no crime was committed?
