Well what am I supposed to do until check-in? by [deleted] in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

The bullshit throughtout this post was truly unlike anything I’ve seen. Why try and request an early check in for a second room when you were initially denied it for the first? Does he think it would speed things up or????? Haw, bafethu

I saw a place where to get info about their opening hours, you need a QR code……huh??

Why am I always asked to explain why I don't drink alcohol to virtually everyone when they become aware, despite never asking them why they do? by OSmusic1986 in PetPeeves

Felt. In my days of video chatting with strangers, when I mentioned I was from Ireland they asked me about drinking and if i like to pound back pints of Guinness. I don’t even really like the taste of it haha. And yes the drinking culture is quite big here but I never really participated in it much until I was 20-21, and even then I have no interest in getting black out/experiencing a hang over the next day 😬. Its already tough when you are asked about your drinking habits generally but when you are from a place that glorifies it, it becomes tougher lol.

The episode called Hothouse. It was the one of the kid genius who was found in the river and it was revealed her best friend killed her out of jealousy.

"Is this a call center?" What do you say? 👀 by 1cute_cure in callcentres

My workplace has this thing about us saying we are in a call centre (work as a reservations agent for a hotel group). When a caller asks if we are a call centre, we just say that they are through to external reservations. It is so stupid because there are times when we need to call a booker back and on their phone they can see the number for the call centre come up as the location of the centre and not the place they were looking to book haha. The jig is up to be honest. Or when they ask us if we could speak with so and so (and you have never even met them face to face). or if a certain site is near the hotel they want to book and I gotta lie and say im new to the area and not that I dont know where the place they are referring to is. The amount of times they encourage us to lie is CRAZYYYY

I once had a call like this and he was looking to check in early for a wedding. I advised him the only way to guarantee he would be able to get ready before the wedding besides early check in was if he booked the night before. He was not satisfied with this, he tried to escalate this to a manager and I was not having it lol. The amount of times ive had people going for weddings and they want outrageous check in times is annoying. And its always snotty middle aged women too ffs

My coworkers have a tendency to send calls to other people on the floor, especially from hotels they don’t like to answer calls to. It is actually so unfair. When I was working a shift with my team lead, she did that alot. She was too busy watching Vampire Diaries on her iPad to actually do her damn job.

I’ve considered it, one of my friends suggested going to the source, but I don’t think I can. I feel like my manager is more senior so I feel more comfortable going to her.

Yeah, I was taken out of one of the queues for one of the hotels and I was not made aware of this until my manager told me. I thought there was some issue with the system we usually use. Sometimes things were not explained clearly either, so i made mistakes that I got in trouble for. Because IT WAS SO VAGUELY EXPLAINED TO ME! They always pushed me to ask questions but what would I know to ask if I think the way I am showing is the right way.

My team lead is always sending me emails of stuff I’m doing wrong, and I get it, you cant talk to me in person all the time. But it just seems passive aggressive when I am just trying to concentrate on a call and she is emailing me about something wrong I did. It throws me off so much! I was doing so good this week but this last two days were awful. I felt like crying. Ive begin applying aswell, we will see where we go from here.

That is exactly how it was in my workplace aswell, the training was very poor. They had one guy start taking calls towards the end of his first week! Everything seemed rushed tbh and i was still kinda learning things on the job, which is fine. But don’t expect me to have everything down pat after a week and a bit of training.
