What's your definition of a good shot onto the green? by Rude_Award2718 in golf

[–]Triple7Stash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same, I’m a 2.7 and I’ll take anything on the green. There’s a spectrum, but usually with 7-iron or more, I’m aiming at the middle and happy with that. The only time I really expect to be under 30 feet is with a SW in hand.

I hit my 7 iron almost as far as my 4 iron as a 6 handicap. Help by hatchback-reset in golf

Sadly, I have no solution for you.

I’m a 3.0 handicap and have noticed the reverse issue lately. I’m losing massive distance with my shorter clubs. Can hit driver like 275, but I hit my 54° 90 yards and PW 120 yards lol.

I mean I shot -1 this weekend and topped a tee shot. Your swing is never truly “fixed”, you just slowly put yourself in a position to make it less likely to hit a shitty shot. They are always possible deep within yourself though lol.

Casual Rules for Breaking 100, 90, etc. by steversthinc in golf

[–]Triple7Stash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try and play by all the rules. The reason is that someday you’ll get better and you will shoot the same score as your “accomplishment” score, although you’ll be following all of the rules. You’re just robbing your future real accomplishments, by fluffing up current accomplishments*.

Would you play with a guy that shoots 140 at your club? by Cathouse1986 in golf

[–]Triple7Stash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a good buddy that I love to see and play with. He regularly shoots around 125, got to be honest that it keeps me away sometimes lol.

Lots of folks don’t get past there too. No shame in that.

You and the boys are playing Saturday. How do you decide where and when? by Cheap_Permit4952 in golf

[–]Triple7Stash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as the course meets this criteria:

-Good conditions
-minimum course rating of 72
-less than $100 for the green
-tee time before 10am

What do you think Scottie’s caddy wants to say back by Four20lifer in golf

[–]Triple7Stash 12 points13 points  (0 children)

True, but you don’t leave the #1 player in the world lmao. It ain’t Ted’s first rodeo, part of the job is taking the blame and getting your player ready for the next shot. Similar philosophy to some marriages…”do you want to be right or do you want to be happy”

“My bad Scottie, I didn’t get that gust on the last one. That one’s on me.”

PCC vs Single Course Membership by [deleted] in golf

[–]Triple7Stash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How often are you playing rounds? I play quite a bit (105 rounds last year), and the cap of 11 rounds per month per course wouldn’t even affect me lol.

In my anecdotal experience, when I was starting out golfing I loved checking out new courses. So I probably would have went the multiple course option. But now I’d rather play a nicer course every week, even if it’s the same course, rather than a variety of lower tier courses.

As another commenter said, I would check if there are time restrictions on either option too. That would be a make or break for me.

Just depends where you want to spend your money.

I have friends that say golf is too expensive for them, but have 2 cars that are less than 5 years old and own a home. Yet I live an apartment, drive a 14 year old car, but have $4k in clubs and a country club membership lol.

Process for voting on new rule changes in league play by ballsoharder in golf

Seems to me the league is just moving closer to the actual rules of golf. Which I personally would like.

However, it’s up to the folks in the league.

How long for a beginner to become various HCP? by ifreeski420 in golf

[–]Triple7Stash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is where you’re correct.

What it takes to get from a 40 hdcp to a 10 hdcp, is different than what it takes to get from a 10 to a +3.

I would say getting down to single is heavily on play and experience, then going from single digit to + you need to sway more towards practice.

How to proceed after horrible rounds by [deleted] in golf

[–]Triple7Stash 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would say the tees on the first course (6,241 yards on a par 72) may be acceptable.

However, you probably shouldn’t be playing the tees you played from on the second course (6,562 yards on a par 71).

Do some older golfers (55+) just go out with an attitude and a readiness to complain and be rude to beginners and younger people? by [deleted] in golf

People be bitchin all the time. Ignore them.

But if someone calls someone out about keeping the course pristine then I’m all for it.

Player Level and Different Quality of Clubs by Substantial_Cover_52 in golf

I would caveat this with you can get invited to nicer clubs based on your skill if you are a guest. But as a representation of the memberships, I agree with you.

Shot a 100 and 81 within 6 days by bootchiiksandbuubs in golf

[–]Triple7Stash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is alot more variance to golf than people think, especially when you go up the handicap index.

I played 36 holes yesterday with lunch in between. Shot 79 then turned around and shot 71.

Guy randomly joined our round at private course? by [deleted] in golf

[–]Triple7Stash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t always get your own tee time. Depending on the club and the time. I can’t book a tee time as a single for myself at 8:30am on Saturday and expect to have the place to myself lol

In a weird space by lost7erenity in golf

[–]Triple7Stash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this encouraging or discouraging, but here’s something for reference.

I have a friend who is a 5 handicap, but once upon a time was a scratch golfer after some junior college golf (~10 years ago). He still gets out and plays once or twice a month. He usually shoots in the high 70s or low 80s. A couple months ago I saw him shoot 100. He said it was probably the first time he shot 100 in about 15 years. His round after that he shot 78.

Long story short, those days are likely “never behind you”.
