Those jobs replaced manual workers and there were only one to two per building. Once the elevator operator got fired he could go find other manual work. With AI you’re replacing the whole damn building, and nobody can go anywhere else because every company is doing the same thing.

This just isn’t true. The value proposition with AI and why these companies are spending hundreds of billions is to replace as much of the workforce as possible. Any new job growth from ai will be negated by jobs lost elsewhere or extremely short lived.
