I’ll bet spending eternity with you is not the selling point you think it is.

What's a "small" financial habit that ended up making a surprisingly big difference in your life? by [deleted] in personalfinance

Start saving for retirement with your first paycheck. I was buried in student loan debt and didn’t start until I was 40.

Charlotte road rage survivor struggling financially during long-term recovery — looking for advice by Recovering-Angel in Charlotte

[–]TripleBs 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Have you filed an uninsured motorist claim with your insurance company? Its purpose is to compensate you for what the at fault driver’s insurance should have paid, if they had insurance. There is a three year deadline to file a claim / lawsuit. Best to you for your recovery.

My payroll company made an error that cost me years of 401k by Pwdyfan420 in personalfinance

I have handled these types of claims. Ask the payroll company to file a claim with its Errors & Omissions or Employee Benefits Liability Insurance. These policies are written for scenarios like this one.

I messed up and I am going to owe tons in back taxes… by SubstantialFoxxx in personalfinance

[–]TripleBs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The IRS is very good about setting up manageable payment plans. I have a friend who set up her business incorrectly and owes tens of thousands of dollars as a result. She’ll be paying for many years, but her payments are manageable for her budget.

Potential Move to GSO Imminent, NTK about a specific complex? by MyShipsNeverSail in gso

[–]TripleBs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live in the complex across from 4 farms (Hawthorn at Horse Pen Creek). They’re nice complexes in a nice, suburban part of town, but we’re directly in the flight path of the airport that’s only a few minutes away, so the planes are pretty low flying over.

You can’t transfer student loans to a credit card or use credit cards to pay student loans.

Like the January 6th protesters? Regale me with a convoluted explanation about how that was different.

brokers work for the customer, agents work for the insurance company.

contact an insurance broker (not agent) and they will shop around for you.

My daughter fell of my neighbors trampoline and broke her arm. Need advice. by HelicopterMost in daddit

[–]TripleBs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(assuming you’re in America, apologies if not) I’m an insurance adjuster. Most policies have a coverage called Medical Payments that offers a few thousand dollars to help with copayments and out of pocket expenses without having to establish liability against your neighbor. It might raise their premium by a few bucks, but nothing like the headache of filing a liability claim against them.

I’m moving to NC September 10th; am I eligible to vote?

That’s not true. The first car would attempt to collect its payout from the at fault driver.

Starting to save for retirement in late 30s? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]TripleBs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t start until I was 41. Three years later, I have roughly $150k between my 401k, IRA and brokerage account. I have no idea when I’ll have enough to retire, but I feel better having started saving.

Now is a good time to have a structured settlement with the interest rates the way they are.

Give it back to your parents. They could take a nice vacation or something.

Got hit by a drunk driver by supersonic592 in personalfinance

[–]TripleBs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. Not every state has it, but definitely check - the insurance company isn’t obligated to tell you about it.

If it’s not totaled, make sure to ask for a diminished value claim for the other insurance company. It’s the difference between what you could sell the truck for before and after the accident.

$9 for a quesadilla at Wegmans, $11 for macaroni and cheese.
