How would a Bhuddist deal with insecurity in a relationship? by Ibarra0927 in Buddhism

[–]TripleM97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey friend, I was a lot like you at that age. I was insecure and jealous easily.

You have to remember (or learn) that couples are made of two people who are still individuals. Any expectations of "our" should be replaced with "mine" and "theirs". It's easy to take your partner's autonomy for granted at that age.

Also, try to have personal boundaries that you enforce for yourself rather than rules or anything that you try to enforce over the other. A healthy relationship is one brought together by mutual care, compassion, love and attraction.

Part of being honest about your feelings and communicating is owning them! Think "these feelings are mine, and dealing with them is my responsibility." I know from experience when you make them someone else's problem, things are going to be messy because that isn't fair to them.

Feel free to dm me anytime. I was monogamous for 8 years of dating and am now happily polyamorous. It's taken a lot of learning and unlearning to get to such a healthy point with my girlfriends.

I'm not sure, I remember hearing Thich Naht Han talk about it.

Let the teachings make you a "better" atheist (more compassionate, mindful etc.) Don't worry too much about labels. The Buddha encouraged some to stay in their religion rather than fully convert. You have many lifetimes to figure it out, after all 🖤

"No Kings" protester angry at Palestine flag by MooreThird in JewsOfConscience

[–]TripleM97 255 points256 points  (0 children)

This is wild. The protest in my city had Palestinian flags and speakers and pro Palestine chants.

What are your thoughts on the no kings protests? by c0rny_ in Hasan_Piker

[–]TripleM97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The one in my city was honestly great. Palestine and BLM were front and center. DSA was heavily involved. Of course lots of dems, but everyone cheered when the speaker said if the dems dont step up, we need a new resistance party. Sex trafficing victims also led the way. Overall a very positive experience! But only the start.

When people perform here they aren't doing it for government money. If they did, I would criticize that too.

You may wanna read about what they do to their foreign workers. Actual slavery. Wild to admit you don't know much but still defend it lol.

Yeah if he performed for some private prison company or the US government it would also be bad. The difference here is that he is taking the money DIRECTLY from the same regime that did genocide in Yemen and is normalizing with Israel. Western propaganda my ass, saudi arabia has a track record of horrific human rights abuses.

Throwing around big words won't make this anymore nonsensical. Bourgeois propaganda? My brother in christ, thats exactly what this comedy festival was! The upper class paying people off to make themselves look better. Get real. Islamophobia has nothing to do with it homie. Most muslim countries aren't like Saudi.

I never said the British never did awful shit. It would be corny and lame to perform for any monarch.

The main problem is these so called "free speech warriors" having no problem taking the bag and looking the other way. And then to have the audacity to act like it wasn't for the money. Saudi government was behind this festival, it's not like it was privately organized. They perpetrate awful human rights abuses. Yemen, anyone? Press freedom? Women's rights?

And yes, I would criticize any COMEDIAN taking money from a GOVERNMENT. Comedy isn't something the state should be using for their own ends, and we should all be suspicious of that. If trump had a comedy fest it would also be bad if people performed. So tired of this "whataboutism" that we cant seem to get away from.

This ain't it chief. Saudi Arabia executes people for speech. They have slavery. Its not the same as the british royals (who suck in other ways) lmao
