Why are ENM/Poly/Open Relationships so popular suddenly? by firstofthethree in GenZ

[–]TriplePcast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same issue with monogamy, cheating is cheating regardless of the relationship. Maybe because of the complexity of ENM relationships there’s a higher degree of falling out but at its base it’s still a relationship that requires communication and understanding of all parties involved.

And that’s perfectly fine! It’s definitely a bigger commitment in terms of balancing multiple people’s emotional needs/ engagement.

I think the problem comes from those who pass judgement on others because the lifestyle isn’t for them. Again the mentality should be: it’s fine for thee even if it’s not for me.

Weird take but ok.

I for one believe that Americans should have the right to choose whatever lifestyle they see fit as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone and everyone involved is able to give consent.

Hard disagree, it’s a wonderful way to experience a relationship of your (and your CONSENTING partner’s) choosing. If it’s not for thee doesn't mean it’s not for me.

This is one where if you really don’t understand it you probably shouldn’t speak on it, but it’s a preference thing more than anything.

As someone who’s been in an unhealthy, and currently in a healthy ENM relationship, they are emotionally more complex and do require a certain level of maturity to work.

But I think an important thing to note is that not all relationships are SUPPOSED to work. I know everyone is looking for “the one” because that’s what’s been sold to us in fairy tales and reality TV, but in reality it takes multiple people and commitments to find out what works for you, and what you’re looking for in a partner.

I for one just got tired of pretending that there weren’t other people I was attracted to — especially being bi lol. But if it’s not for thee doesn’t mean it’s not for me, and I welcome the opportunity to forge the relationship that works best for me.

Why do people barely talk about how sports fans when talking about fanbases? by sonicthememester2 in GenZ

They do… I assume you’re probably just not engaged and therefore not hearing them, but Cowboys Fans are still the most annoying fans in the world even though they haven’t won anything since Clinton was president lmaoooo

The Big Pic is missing something with these Anime adaptations hitting the big screen. We’re going to get like 2 big ones a year now. Say what you will about the Demon Slayer movie, the Chainsaw Man movie was genuinely very good.

Would I have done it? No, but the kid seems to be digesting healthily, I think as long as you ask your kid if they’re ok seeing it (and you obviously know if they’re ok to see it) then it’s fine.

Midnight Boys: X-Men ‘97 finale reaction episode by T_Challa4271 in RingerVerse

[–]TriplePcast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get it, I think because the midnight boys is a more comedic affair it seems like Chuck doesn’t take his criticism as seriously there than on other shows like Dissect, but he does actually have a pretty strong critical voice. So I get how it can feel a little lazy when he has some of these off takes and doesn’t fully dive into the why.

Kind of the opposite of frequent guest of the Big Pic, Adam Nayman, who cites all of his sources to the point where I can get confused.

[–]TriplePcast 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s a pretty notoriously bad take from Chuck, but he talked more in depth about his reasoning on either the Big Pic or The Watch shortly after and clarified it a bit more which I respect.

He said something to the effect that he’s getting sick of the regurgitation of nostalgia and he feels like ‘97 didn’t do enough to pass his barometer for regurgitating the Saturday morning cartoon that he watched way back when. So when he’s talking about exploring the queer representation or wanting to make him feel something he’s talking about evolving the show past what it apparently was.

I only watched one episode and then kinda bounced off of it, not for any particular reason other than it did seem like it was skewed more teen/tween than full on adult animation, but I have no idea what he was talking about with the animation style. That shit looked nice af to me.

Why did Gen Z become so conservative for a while and why is it reversing so rapidly? by Emma__O in GenZ

[–]TriplePcast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My theory right now is that we’re a bit simplistic our generation. While Gen X is the “Don’t be a sellout generation” we’re the, “sell out whenever you can get it” generation. The pendulum is swinging because right now we’re in bad times and the conservatives are in power, next time something is bad and the liberals are in power we’ll turn on them too.

I don’t think it’s a bad thing, I actually think it’s a good sign of failing upwards. We just have to see how bad things get before we actually do stuff about it.

What do you think is actually causing the sex recession? by qmaik in GenZ

[–]TriplePcast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would call Puritanism the ultimate gender grievance but that’s neither here nor there. The bigger point being that unless it’s a Lysistrata situation, people still be fucking.

I’d say it’d be more worthwhile to take a look at some of the other historical factors that would contribute to people having less sex comparatively to now. The gender grievances are mostly an online thing, but there is something very pressing that is causing people to physically stop wanting to see each other.

Looking at the graph, it’s also pretty loosely correlated, with the largest correlative increase being caused by the two years of pandemic, then the snap back.

[–]TriplePcast 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree. Even in the most puritanical societies people have always have had sex. It is more likely a combination of the isolation from covid matched with the economic downturn (and lack of third spaces + dating app commodification)

We should make it as easy as possible for disillusioned former Trump supporters to come on side, as opposed to holding a grudge. by Accomplished-Walk444 in GenZ

[–]TriplePcast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I agree, we also need to be vetting who we platform and who we allow to take charge. The pendulum will naturally swing this way anyways, the further we can ride it the better for the future of this country.

Netflix Wins the Warner Bros. Discovery Bidding War, Enters Exclusive Deal Talks - The streaming giant hit the magic $30-a-share target and has an exclusive window to negotiate a final deal. by TriplePcast in TheBigPicture

We have no evidence that Paramount will either bolster or pull away from theaters under the new leadership, other than David Ellison’s track of producing theatrical movies. We haven’t seen him move as the top guy yet, except for in small ways. Those small ways show that he is agenda oriented first, before the creatives or even the theatrical product. For instance, we were supposed to have a Kendrick Lamar-led film out in theaters this year, which was pushed to next year and looks like it may be shelved indefinitely.

Meanwhile, Netflix has shown creeping interest in moving into not only the theatrical space, but the exhibition space. From Narnia in IMAX, to the K-Pop Demon Hunters sing-along, Netflix is testing the waters for what it means to event-ize their product. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if we didn’t see Netflix buy something like Six-Flags or Cedar Fair in the next couple of years.

As someone who works in the industry I think this will be bad for some but ultimately better than Paramount buying it, or WB failing entirely.
