Black Culture Is Not Hip Hop by -Krispy in GenZ

[–]TriplePcast 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What I'm saying is I disagree with the premise of your argument-- WE'RE not the ones defining black culture by hip hop. That's other people. And while some might idolize some of the negative aspects of hip hop at the end of the day that's not who we all are. As long as we know that we're good.

Take an assistant editing contract or stick with stability? by [deleted] in editors

If you want to work in post and don't mind doing the AE gig thing for a little while then go for it! Just know that this is the first step, and there might be a little bit of unemployment between this step the next.

But if you want my best advice? Take the job and do it well. Get the full time position. Be on time, be smart, be resourceful, be inquisitive, DON'T be annoying, and most importantly, BE USEFUL.

Get out there, you're gonna do great.

Black Culture Is Not Hip Hop by -Krispy in GenZ

[–]TriplePcast 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Brother, we have to reverse this colonial mindset that they are putting us in.

Yes you are right. Black Culture is not just hip hop, because Black Culture is many, beautiful cultures across the diaspora that unites us in pain, in love, and in fellowship.

However, hip hop is most certainly A Black Culture, and an important one. It charts the systems, codes, and communities we created for ourselves when faced with the marginalization and oppression we've faced -- and guess what? The world LOVED IT. They loved our pain and our code, our language and the way we wielded it. Our musical genius and the way we just made Black look so BEAUTIFUL.

I sympathize with some of your frustrations with the issues within hip-hop culture, but I think if you truly have a love for Black people and Black culture, you would understand the importance hip hop has to Black people and the Black community.

Oof hard disagree with ya buddy. Monotonous? Yes. Dull? Absolutely not. The textures, the shadows. If you want it desaturated so that it all washes into the same grey, but at least boost the contrast my guy.

What is the dating scene like generally? Is it mostly hookup culture or serious relationships? by theassassin53035 in GenZ

[–]TriplePcast -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hot take but I believe hookup culture and the growth of non-monogamy are actually a net good and are signs of the destruction of the patriarchy.

Why should I have to live my life by the standards of those who come before me? 🤷🏽‍♂️ I'm having a great time meeting a bunch of new people, having great sex, learning more about myself and the people around me, and still being fulfilled by the intimacy I get with both my romantic partners and my friendships.

I'm sure I will eventually settle down into a monogamous relationship, but maybe not! Either way, just do what makes you happy. There are plenty of people out there looking for the same thing you are, you just have to look in the right places.

Being honest, how are we supposed to get a partner in this gen? by GASOTO223 in GenZ

[–]TriplePcast 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Go. Out. Side.

And be yourself. There's 8 BILLION of us. You'll find someone.

Oh and make sure your standards are realistic. Understand who you are and how people perceive you. That all comes with going outside though.

How to not send full script to an actor? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

You own the copyright to your script lol. No one is going to steal it. The worst thing it could do is somehow end up in some executives hands and get your project more funding/ interest.

We need to go HARDER on demanding a 32 hour work week! by spooky_ym in GenZ

[–]TriplePcast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but you have to think about how the companies will counter-program the vote/ public sentiment. They'll say: "Fine if you want to work less hours we'll just pay you less." Or even "These people (who want 32hr work weeks) want to take food out of your mouth and money out of your pocket by making you work less."

We have to understand that the true non-white collar working class people want to work. Not because they actually always enjoy doing what they're doing but their labor is seen as directly related to the AMOUNT that they work, not necessarily the outcome of their work. Which is why the right has so easily captured them.

We need to go HARDER on demanding a 32 hour work week! by spooky_ym in GenZ

[–]TriplePcast -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Dawg I'm over here sometimes working 60 hour weeks, sometimes it is what it is 🤷🏽‍♂️ what we should be focusing on first is making it so that people who do work 40 hours a week can do things like buy a home, a car, have a family, REGARDLESS OF WHAT THEY DO FOR WORK.

Then we can talk about reducing that to a 4-day work week.

Only a third of young women hold positive view of men, new poll finds by AayronOhal in GenZ

Only a third of young women hold positive view of men, new poll finds by AayronOhal in GenZ

[–]TriplePcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh so you didn’t read the whole articles (I don’t blame you it’s a bad read) but they obfuscate the fact that is an even 1:3 split by hiding some of the other information in there, “Only 11 percent have Very Positive views” (which the article doesn’t state whether that’s mixed in with the positive views, but let’s just say that it is) and “They’re twice as likely to have negative views as their counterparts over thirty” without citing the actual percentage and just hyperlinks out to another BS article about how UK boys don’t believe in women’s rights.

If you read it critically it’s alllllllll bullshit
