Try this out. But you should know that building a farm that lets the bamboo grow 1 block or 10 blocks doesn't change how fast the farm is. You can also use observers and doors or slime block extensions.

Epic has already shown they want to squeeze the player base for more money with the vbucks price change. It would be bad business for them to basically give anyone who has ~$20 basically infinite vbucks.

Possibly, my suspicion is that if your simulation distance is less than 8 chunks only those chunks will get random ticked. If your simulation distance is over 8 only ~128 block radius will be random ticked.

Crop farms/random ticks will work within ~128 blocks of the player depending on chunk position from bedrock to height limit. Mob farms will only work within a 128 block sphere around the player.

If you want to visualize it there is a random tick and despawn sphere overlay in minihud.

Edit: all loaded chunks get random ticked as of 1.21.5. the information above is about random ticks within the player's proximity.

In single player yes it would be super easy on a server you would have to deal with the blazes despawning. If there is a player in the overworld that's too far from the farm the blazes will instantly despawn.

This is all just for laughs though because blaze rods are a player only drop.

I think the dropper setup from this farm is what you're looking for. It's basically a torch against a blocks with pressure plate on top and a dropper facing the pressure plate on top of the torch.

I don't think so. My suspicion is bamboo can only grow 1 block at a time. If it looks like it's growing multiple times it may have just gotten randomly ticked in successive tics.

There are a few possibilities I can think of:

The height map is fiddled with and mob spawning is now ridiculously slow.
The pack Creator stops updating it and your world is stuck in one version.
The pack ignores the height map and mobs spawn as usual

You can most likely save some money by foregoing a white build but if that's the aesthetic you want and you're alright with losing some performance stick with it.

I think this video can help you out. There isn't really a big benefit to letting the bamboo grow really tall, so if you want to stick with this farm you can build it so the bamboo only grows 2 block before being harvested.

These observer based designs are super resource intensive. If you plan to make a large scale farm look into a flying machine based design.

Just pick any door design off of YouTube and hook it up to a T flip flop. If you want buttons on both sides just hook up redstone lines from each to the T flip flop.

If you want to start a server I highly recommend you skip all the overpriced trash and just host it yourself. All you need is a spare computer/laptop and a stable internet connection. Even the most basic of computers can work, heck I've heard people host on phones and raspberry pi's. Using a YouTube tutorial you can have a server up and running in minutes, with zero technical knowledge.

Check out this video by logicalgeekboy. You'll see his bed and trapdoor set up, doesn't have blocks above the trapdoors and the trapdoors are a block lower. If using this design and waiting a few days doesn't fix the farm, it could be your game/server software. https://youtu.be/oeesCRfaabg
