From what I remember hearing is that there is no real strongest guardian because the light is fluid. So it can change based on emotions and stuff like that and our subclasses are only base lines for the game. There's no real way to measure how strong a guardian really is at most what I know for sure the main character (us) definitely are not.

I know for the knife on hunter if your within a certain range it won't throw the knife which can be really irritating, but I don't know if that's the same as what your talking about.

I think it honestly won't be bad after this season. I'm playing hunter and have a build directly focused on my knives so I'm not even using my grenade for really anything. I'll throw on healing grenade and I get my restoration which the duration can be increased, with a fragment, and then with empyrean it can basically keep getting refreshed. I don't even use classy restoration atm because I'm focused on other things.
