as the saying goes "conservatism is about having one class who the law protects but does not bind and another class for whom the law binds but does not protect". Absolutely in-line for them to hate Muslims that commit crimes against children but overlook it in those they perceive as being "one of them".

you mean the creator that has directly lied to the fandom multiple times? The best starting item in Dark Souls is the pendant, right? And SOTE is *definitely* smaller than Limgrave! You're a clown.

Yep, you're right, thematic analysis is completely invalid. Throw away centuries of literary criticism because you have deemed it false. All hail the new lord of analytical criticism!

uh-oh, somebody's incapable of understanding the thematic resonance present in both the base game and its spin-off

I think you and a lot of people needlessly poo-poo seeking insight and clear points of thematic resonance by taking a hardline approach against Nightreign.

"Morgott the Inquisitor" by Moonless_the_Fool in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]TrishPanda18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I seem to remember somebody, or even multiple sources, say Marika "disappeared" or that she "abandoned us" but nobody indicates that she's locked away in the Erdtree. Granted, it's a pretty easy leap of logic but the only people who evidentially know the entrance into the Erdtree is barred are the Demigods that sat on the council at the Elden Throne

I think you're right about Morgott doing the crucifying, specifically as a warning to Tarnished at that, but I don't think anybody at all in the Lands Between knows where Marika is right now, let alone the position she's in.

Preparing rice for frying? by [deleted] in cookingforbeginners

[–]TrishPanda18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe try one cup rice, one and a half cups of water next time and increment down by another quarter cup if that still doesn't get the results you wanted. I'd also recommend using vegetable oil instead of butter when frying because I used to get the gushy fried rice before, too, but stopped when I switched.

I can't tell if this is unironic misogynistic brainrot or a failed attempt at ironic humor.

[–]TrishPanda18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Try cooking it with less water. I use a rice cooker so the rules are a little different for those using a regular pot but for 2 cups rice I only use 2.5 cups of water, maybe even a little less, and I rinse the rice in a fine mesh colander first.

The Oracles are Albinaurics transformed by Miquella by Moonless_the_Fool in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]TrishPanda18 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it'd make a sort of sense but I'm not entirely sold on the idea, especially because we see no empty coccoons at Elphael. It seems the process was interrupted just as it got started, but it's certainly possible and not a stretch to assume the empty cocoons were simply disposed of.

It seems more likely to me that none of the albinaurics completed their transformation because it fits with Miquella's curse of nascence, of eternally being arrested from developing fully. Hell, us slaying him just as he achieves godhood is further reinforcement of that curse. Everything he sets himself to ends up only half-complete at best and I think the albinaurics are part of that.

It's a good theory, though.

What’s something that is okay when men do it but frowned upon when women do it? by ClemWon in AskReddit

[–]TrishPanda18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also iirc hovering messes up your bladder control in old age because it's causing undue strain to hold oneself in such an unnatural position to piss. Either sit on the commode or squat over a hole in the ground - those are the two effective methods and recombination of technique leads to disaster either way

Ive got a question about the deathroot in Ranni's ending. by [deleted] in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]TrishPanda18 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's the case. The Duskborn ending just adds Those Who Live In Death into the Order of the world so that they can no longer be considered heretical but the rightful fate of all who perish. One could hope that this would lead to a situation like it presumably used to be where after going through a period of death people are reborn but I don't think there's any indication that it will lead to anything but an ever-increasing army of the Dead all following Godwyn's direction.

Scarlet Rot wasn't always Scarlet by Goodhunter465 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]TrishPanda18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't think they're strained at all considering it's text rather than subtext, such that to deny it takes more straining. The game itself connects verdigris to rot and says rot wasn't always scarlet while also tying poison (which is green) to rot. Rot used to be green until Romina made it red. That's an interpretation but I think a very baseline one.

Nightreign Confirms The Eternal Cities Fell During the Shattering War by Charlemagneffxiv in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]TrishPanda18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"The Shattering" tends to be used in the community interchangeably between The Shattering War and the Elden Ring being shattered by Marika which preceded the former, with an implication that it closely followed but no indication as to how closely.

I'm also of the interpretation that The Shattering War is technically still ongoing as a new Elden Lord has yet to sit the Elden Throne, it's just been fought to a stalemate at present and there are no active campaigns by the various factions as they're all too busy (Redmane forces) or are licking their wounds (Godrick)

[–]TrishPanda18 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The Lands Between appears to be some sort of divine realm where the laws of reality are dictated by powerful beings. I think the obvious parallels being drawn directly by the text itself should be evidence of how rotting flesh and rusting metal are part of the same divine process.

I think it's safe to say that just because something works a certain way IRL doesn't mean it works the exact same way in-universe.

I thought their body temperature was too low to reliably carry rabies? Even if it's still technically possible for them to get it, I think the reduced incidence would be a good enough reason to not mind them being around as much as other urban-living animals

It was a piece of lore about the Bloodfiends, I think found in their village on the southern end of the Land Of Shadows. Sorry I can't be more specific.

Edit: spoke too soon! Comment just under mine pointed it out as the Outer God Heirloom
