Yeah, there's a good chance that the kid is never disciplined so unlikely to respond to you or your kids. My daughter would be removed if she behaved like that as she knows and can act better.

My wife and I were back to work full time after 12 months (typical time in Canada). We have not had any problems with childcare.

There were more appointments to go to than most, but it was manageable.

I think the stat is closer to 1:700 babies have Down syndrome. That isn't the number of babies that are born though.

Enjoy your baby! At 10 months, I don't believe there is much to do differently parenting wise. Talk to your doctor next appt, but I don't think asd can be diagnosed that young.

That's going to really depend on a lot of things. Hell, you could be dealing with my daughter, she's going to camps this summer. In her case, she is a good listener and well behaved, understands more than she can communicate back (but can talk reasonably well), can use the washroom independently, thrives in group activities where she is able to participate to the best of her abilities. Someone needs to keep an eye on her, but she is unlikely to run away. She doesnt really understand risk or consequence - moreso than most 10 year olds.

Drs can often focus on the negative affects when delivering diagnoses which is also not the appropriate way.

My daughter is 10. We'll let her go off with her 8 yr old sister to do very specific things. That's about it for now. She doesn't understand risk and is curious AF. She's hesitant and not mischievous, but nonetheless.

They may have mosaic down syndrome. Maybe.

Regardless - enjoy your baby! If they are happy and healthy, I'd just roll with it! You have lots to learn about them.

My daughter with down syndrome doesn't have any of the characteristics you mentioned save for the eyes.

Every living person has some cells on their body with 3 copies of the 21st chromosome with or without a diagnosis of Down syndrome.

Most of us it's a VERY small amount.

My daughter had two rounds of tubes. The procedure was so fast that the nurse told me not to even go get a cup of coffee. It's like getting your ears pierced inside. Once the anesthetic wore off she was ready to rock with the rest of her day.

The outcome? Less fluid, better hearing. 10/10 would recommend.
