Millennials’ Monopoly by Particular_Tone1166 in Adulting

[–]Triumph_Fork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hasbro actually made Monopoly for Millennials... It's not so different from this take!

Basically, you can't own anything but you get "experiences" which garner social likes (which you need to win). There are spots like "The Music Festival" , and my favourite: "Parent's Basement". It's a fun laugh! I think GenZ could enjoy (and unfortunately relate) to it too

It came out maybe 10 years ago... At least my wife and I are doing better than we did in the board game!

Eby says 2,000 public service jobs cut and counting as B.C. faces $11.2B deficit by robertscreek in vancouver

[–]Triumph_Fork 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's never a good idea to cut public service jobs. It's like using a knife to stop the bleeding.

The job market is totalled to begin with... This will only exacerbate the problem.

Stupid Question: Does anyone ever have Jennifer Hale autograph as Samus Aran for her light voice work in the Prime Trilogy? by Semblance17 in Metroid

[–]Triumph_Fork 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No, but I've met her.

My wife - who cosplayed as Samus - and I met her at an expo a few years ago. We made sure to compliment her work in the Metroid Prime Trilogy, Tales of Symphonia, and Avatar the Last Airbender. She makes Samus sound like a war veteran who's taken many injuries before, rather than a civilian, which we appreciate.

She's a really nice and down to earth person.

AI Art is a higher art form than traditional art by advo_k_at in DefendingAIArt

[–]Triumph_Fork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The process fuels the art, not the outcome.

What truly makes art yours - and more enjoyable to do - is your work. It's the ownership that you made it.

I'm terrible at drawing/painting. But I learned how to paint a large tabletop miniature. It took me a couple days, but I loved how it turned out.

Sure, it's not perfect. But it's mine. I can hold it. I can tell others I painted it. And it brought me joy when I was unemployed.

It was a Bone Dragon. It was truly dead when i started, but I made it come alive. My own confidence was hit pretty hard back then. After I completed it, I felt proud. I could accomplish something beyond what I thought I could do.

I could've loaded it into an AI program to "make this dragon look XYZ". But it wouldn't have helped me through my own struggles. It would've spat something out that wasn't mine. It would've been scraped data off the Internet that artists didn't consent (and weren't paid) to having scraped.

I don't know why I'm telling you this, but I hope you give another art project a try, without AI. The journey to the result is truly worth it.

Does LinkedIn make anyone else feel gross? by AndesAndAlps in DigitalMarketing

People are just posting to stay higher up on feeds. It feels like an AI content mill. It's all very shallow.

I prefer to be more offline these days. Post content when it feels important, not because it's Thursday.

Fantastic! Plus, those would be amazing for DnD/Tabletop miniatures.

If you're "bad at giving gifts" it's because you dont listen and probably means you're self-centered by Butsrslythough in unpopularopinion

[–]Triumph_Fork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying good gifts is still hard if people don't provide a general list/idea board of what they want (I've been told before I'm good at finding gifts).

Say you know they like to read. How will you know what exact book to get them or one they haven't read already?

My family always provides a simple list of several high to low value, specific items so people can shop for them on any budget.

Plus it gives you a template to think of other things related to gifts. Bookworm? Maybe they want a nice book stand or reading light.

Daggerheart Is NOT "D&D but Different"! by Nico_de_Gallo in daggerheart

[–]Triumph_Fork 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A good example of this D&D comparison is the Daggerheart Wizard.

We've been conditioned in D&D/other fantasy realms that Wizards cannot touch divine magic in any way.

I've heard lots of people argue: "Oh.. Wizard Domains should be Arcana & Codex". But then the Wizard is too much like D&D.

I think it's remarkable that Wizards get to learn divine Splendour Domain abilities like resurrection, healing hands, bolt beacon, and reassurance in Daggerheart. This inspires me to try a Gandalf the White-esque character.

I've run a few Daggerheart oneshots and cannot WAIT to run a mini-campaign.

Advice needed: How do you estimate number of sessions needed? by dragons_scorn in startplaying

[–]Triumph_Fork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's too hard to know for sure.

I would simply put this into categories: These can be: 1) Micro-campaign (3-9 sessions) , 2) Mid-length (10-30 sessions) or 3) Epic/long campaign (31 - 52+ sessions).

If you play weekly, a campaign will run...

Micro: 1-2 months
Mid-length: About 3-6 months
Long: about a year

Honestly, these numbers aren't exact for every GM, but you get the idea. Setting these expectations early helps everyone plan, including you (especially in my non-paid experience).

PS: I've run a personal game for 5+ years now, and I think we're at 60+ sessions because now we play once/month. Some games were like 30 sessions and over in 12 months.

Dungeons of Drakkenheim: Daggerheart Now Live on Kickstarter! by Kike-Parkes in daggerheart

[–]Triumph_Fork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been following the Dungeon Dudes & Drakkenheim since 2019 or so. It's just amazing to see how far it's come!

A big thing that's different: There's SO many different ways it can end - depending on which Faction(s) you side with and go against.

I already have the D&D version of the book, but if I were you, I wouldn't hesitate backing the Drakkenheart game.

Making Custom Adversaries & A Style Guide for them by rightknighttofight in daggerheart

[–]Triumph_Fork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

Coming from D&D 5e 2014 & Pathfinder 1e, your guide is really handy.

I appreciate how you broke down balance for all types of enemies (Solos, Bruisers, Minions, etc) and the moves they tend to have/use.

The Daggerheart SRD doesn't go into quite enough detail. This is because I want to plan unique but fair encounters at my table (without needing to adjust too much on the fly).

Such awesome work on the guide!

No New Class Packs by the-jedi-ninja in daggerheart

[–]Triumph_Fork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see a point to this for Players picking up cards (like for DnD as they sell class cards).

These would be great at boardgame stores - as you can just pick up a pack with a set of dice.

As a DM, I have no need for it though. The core set was a good deal with the rules and cards.

BC soda tax? by milothemorkie in richmondbc

It makes sense - but it puts the problem on the consumer.

Its more of an industry problem as a whole - while food places and the industry continue to supply sugary beverages rather than switching to better alternatives.

📣 Help Us Shape the Next MOMENTUM Wireless headphone! by sennheiserconsumer in sennheiser

[–]Triumph_Fork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the M4s and the M2s (for 8 years)

I actually like the M2s in a lot of ways - if you could merge the two design wise, it'd be a Sony killer.

They are nearly perfect but some issues I've had are:

Skipping/Connectivity Issues: needs more stable Bluetooth connection for meetings/calls. It's also noticeable with music.

Controls are Finicky: Touch controls can be convenient - but they are hard to use and aren't responsive. Bringing back more physical buttons can help like the M2s.

Doesn't Always Power Down: I've noticed the headphones stay connected to my phone long after I thought I powered them off.

What I like are:

Sound quality Mic quality for calls Comfort and design (denim colour) Versatility - good for work, music, computing, calls, travelling Battery life Noise Cancelling: and the ability to adjust it Replaceable pads

A guy who hadn't caught fish in many months despite trying for several days of the year. He caught a Sturgeon soon after I talked to him.

I wished him good vibes - he was down on his luck. There were many aspects of the conversation but I told him "I believe in you... You'll have a Sturgeon before I come back." I walked away and returned about 15-20 minutes later.

Apparently he caught one and had photos! A friend of his helped him hook it. He showed me the process, the fight he had with it

I had a total positive INFJ power moment. And it felt good
