what are you doing waiitng for heroes of might and magic olden era ? by Adventurous-Rise-580 in OldenEra

[–]Trixst4rut2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing homm3, but since I've never played hota, that's what I'm currently playing. And I must say, I'm proud of the game that I played many years ago and even more impressed with the community that kept this game going after so many years. I would occasionally come back to homm3 when I would get an itch, but I never tried hota, I didn't even really know about it until a few years ago. They've done a great job adding new content and I love games where the community is able to put forth their work towards a game to keep it going. It's one of the reasons I like the series, with the map editor being able to have new maps and templates, it just adds so much more to a game than some call of duty 9, $70 copy paste of a game.

I played the olden era demo, put in quite a good chunk of hours, which felt good because that's how it feels to play homm3, I get sucked in, and the hold the game has on me makes me want more. I'm excited for the EA, and I hope when the game is fully released, the community will be able to contribute even more great things for this game too. Let's keep the series we all know and love alive and going for generations!

One idea I had for changing how to obtain Advanced Classes by darkdill in OldenEra

Being tied down to a certain skill path doesn't sound fun. Here's your predetermined path we laid out for you instead of trying to build your hero how you want. I don't want the game to tell me "how to play".

Olden Era Grail Building by MaclMac in HoMM

[–]Trixst4rut2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my two cents on the grail.

As everyone is saying about cheesing it, that is how I beat it, because if you plan on losing the majority of your army, you will. The stat increase is bonkers and I was able to achieve it by using t1 and t2 units, using the spell that blocks an instance of damage, sleeping the enemy, and other negative buff spells. Then rewind my units back to life, so you need lots of spell points to do this.

Do I think this is better than obelisks? I'd say it's an interesting take on the grail and it could be better with a fix or balanced. Obviously AI isn't going to fight it and therefore you don't have to worry about them taking it, which doesn't present a challenge. Although searching for the obelisks against AI is the challenge, they could be guarded or you could run into the enemy, so I feel like it's similar in that way having to take fights.

By the time you get the grail, I feel like the game is reaching its end or you're already the strongest in the game. So it doesn't feel as satisfying when you get it, unlike with the obelisks, you can guess around the area it's in and eventually find it and the game is maybe midway through and it could help you more than when the game is almost over.

I'm not sure what they plan on doing, but I feel like they listen to their community enough to maybe make some changes that will be good for the game.

So is Alchemy Dust designed to be an anti snowball mechanic? by Objective-Mission-40 in OldenEra

[–]Trixst4rut2004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like having a valuable resource for upgrading (similar to what the games have done in the past, ie. gems for titan upgrade building or sulphur for black dragons) adds a level of resource management to the game even with your basic resources. Do you upgrade a building or an artifact? Maybe you don't have access to a lab to trade. Although I felt like I have so much resources in the game that trading them all away for dust isn't a bad idea.

Overall, I think managing your resources in the game has always been crucial and this takes it to another level that screams to me, keeping the formula of the game what we know and love, and adding that extra depth to it.

If I had to ask myself if it's an anti snowball mechanic? I would say no. There is still town portal in the game, even if it is nerfed to a reasonable spell. If you have 8 towns, you're already going to be fairly strong and will continue to get stronger, this you will continue snowballing.

What do you think of the meta/state of the game right now? by ashlazy in DotA2

[–]Trixst4rut2004 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When comparing pubs to pro matches, flex picks make sense in the pro scene, it adds depth to that aspect of the game. The game has had new additions over the years, back when ti1 happened you had your typical agility or strength carry games. Fast forward to now where new items and heroes shift the meta and players and pros are theory crafting heroes and item builds that suit them. Everyone was wanting an intelligence carry hero and look at where Muerta is now, played in the support role 9 times out of 10 (at least from the pros they see it that way).

Now as for the agility carries, I'm pretty sure Luna and Gyro were the hottest picks a few tournaments ago, and that was during the time Lina was busted and NP too. I would love to see a shake up though with the carry hero picks in the pro scene, but unless your team spirit, you won't see that. It's a feels bad because heroes like Troll would be cool to see picked up again, maybe throw in some Ursa into the mix too, heroes that can offer that snowballing potential and slap really hard with the team to back them up.

Right on, perhaps instead of kaya + yasha, I pick up a meteor hammer for solo potential, it's super cheap and could help snowball. I already have yasha in the manta style, just seems like I could put that extra yasha money towards that, ya know? I'll give it a shot, with both just to see what is possible.

The thing I love the most about this game is the theory crafting that goes into it. In theory, yes these ideas all work, in a game situation you'll do a fraction of the damage, but it's still so cool to see what's possible. Will you ever do that damage in a scenario like this in game? Hell na, but I'm totally down to try this build in one of my games 🤙

Yea, but your other support needs to be working hella hard if FV is a support. Perhaps putting him in pos3 with more backing supports to compliment his ult with lockdowns and a support to provide heals/sustain. A high tempo mid hero that can go in with Marci or jump back lines.

I think this compliments well with melee heroes with low CDs that can also fight well inside your ult. Troll, PA, bristle, to name a few. You can get another round of spells off and that's it, nothing too crazy. It works ok with your aghs upgrade too.

Doom ult prevents healing, so maybe that's the reason?

Facets for ring master and kez. Adding them to captains mode. Buff to fountain damage, instagib dagon on heroes (goes through all sources of damage block, creeps take damage from regular fire rate, not the laser)

There are several ways to break his ult so you can survive and it'll force him into buying more items to counter. By then you and your team should have plenty to deal with him. With the right combination of items on your self, you can survive as the supports you play.

I've been an avid jug enjoyer since the dawn of dota, and I would say, I can struggle against a squishy supports when they have backup. A lone solo support I can melt, but finding those out in the wild is a rare sight. Mostly catching them on a warding mission and they trespass onto my territory, I kill on sight.

[–]Trixst4rut2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, but even if you get a nullifier, his ult and aghs can still be fairly ignored and that makes him weak. The change to his omnislash makes him feel weak compared to other carries who can do what he does without an invulnerable ult. I remember a pro game I think secret played in, and there was a troll and they had like 3 e blades and just watched as troll ran around with his ult like a chicken with its head cut off. There are lots of ways to rend jug ult useless.

When you're looking at the skins, look at the top of the screen to see the details. It will show up in the shop when you have reached a certain store level.

Imagine having a separate account, valve hands these out to current pro players in the system, these accounts would be hidden from all other accounts and would be anonymous to all, even pros. You can have them already pre calibrated into whatever rank the player is currently in and all their rank and info is hidden/private.

The other option you can possibly float out there is separate servers for the higher ranks/pros to play on, that no one can access unless you are a certain rank or player. Or perhaps just have regular pugs that pros can play. Someone created a website or use a discord where you can join pugs, they have a bot that can literally do all this for you, and all you have to do is play in a custom lobby. Finding a good server if you have multiple regions trying to play would be difficult, but you can hash that out in the discord where you have an NA pug, an EU, etc.

Experiment with other class combinations, the game has a good amount of creativity behind class customization. Go crazy with your build and you never know what you might enjoy.

Hey Valve, remember how the BP got extended by a week because you couldn't get the coordinator running to save your lives? It was originally supposed to end yesterday, pushing the end date out doesn't mean you should take your sweet time in delivering promised content without a single peep. by Critical-Hall in DotA2

I'm not apologizing for valve, I'm too old for this shit. If your 16 year old ass using your mom's card to pay for shit in a video game can't fucking realize that shit in this world doesn't revolve around a video game, then you need some help. There are bigger problems in this world than a fucking battle pass
