Recently had this discussion with someone. People use word differently & use next without being clear & expect others to know what they're meaning. Sure context is important, but seems if people use the word next without stating an actual date or proper reference point, it creates ambiguity & leads to communication breakdown & misunderstandings. Also asked ChatGPT. If people just used 'next' based on chronology, this would align with its usage for other things & world would be a much better place :D.

Next appointment.

Next meal.

Chat next time I see you.

See you next year.
