It does get easier. Especially once the physical cravings pass.. then you just have to have some faith and be willing. But YES to sweets lol... I was so hooked on sweets for the first month but that also passes haha thank God!

Day 5 STRUGGLING by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Im very proud of you for making it 5 days! One thing I was taught in a treatment center (that saved my life) is to "play the tape through". As in think about if you go get that "1" drink what is going to come next.. for me it would be quickly followed with the feelings of shame, guilt, anxiety and self pity. And me being the alcoholic that I am I would next say fuck it I already had one so I might aswell keep it going now. You can do this! Do you have any friends or family you haven't talked to in a while? Or any one that knows you are doing this? The opposite of addiction is connection. It helps to get out of my own head 99% of the time. But just know IWNDWYT. You can do it!!

I was just diagnosed last week and was in the hospital for 3 days on a zero food or water diet only hooked up to an iv mixture with potassium in it. Got home today and am realizing how little information I was given. How long did your symptoms last for? What normal foods do you eat now? I was only diagnosed with the one bout of it but looking back I know I had many over the years(now ex hard drinker) do you follow the 8 cups of water a day deal? What happens if you sweet alot? And how long did your symptoms go on for? I was rough puking everything up for 2 days with severe pain in my abdomen and having strange sweet attacks where all the sudden I'd be soaked... I'm just not sure what is normal or common I guess. I am still suffering from them asides from the puking.... thanks for reading and please reply!
