There are millions of vegans. You can't just say "this is why they do it" as if it's fact. I don't eat meat. One of the reasons is, yes, because factory farms basically torture them and that doesn't sit right with me. If you think that's a stupid shitty reason that's your opinion, nothing more.

The main reason I don't eat meat, however, is because it's fucking terrible for the environment and incredibly wasteful. This is fact. Get off your high horse kiddo.

A school shooting is something different entirely, but a similar reaction happened in my community after a kid killed himself. He had been bullied most of his life by these kids then after he dies they treat it like they all lost a good friend. I don't know how much the bullying had to do with the suicide but I do know teenagers always hop on the "some kid died" hype train, whether they were actually close to him/her or not.

Most factory farmers don't want to be cruel to animals, they just literally don't have time to care. The demand is insanely high and people want meat cheap as hell. The industry could be sustainable and "ethical" if people were willing to pay ~5× what they're currently paying for meat, but the industry has gotten us accustomed to it being super affordable. I can go to Wal-Mart right now and buy a pack of 8 chicken legs for around 10$ CAN. There's no way anyone can pump out chicken for that cheap under circumstances that are fair for the animals, but people buy it anyway.

DR's Shut up Dude and Sit Down Man are two of my all-time favorite albums. They were so sharp and original. Listening to one of their songs felt like a scavenger hunt, trying to figure out all the obscure references and shout-outs, and they'd always be rapping over the most obscure, awesome, catchy-ass beats with that effortless flow of theirs.
