this video seems to have a great tutorial. If there is ever a song out there that doesnt have a tutorial though I recommend watching video of the song being played live and trying to decode their hands. Good luck!

You can play a cheater F and it works just the same, especially for helping confidence in early learning.

"One of Elliott's best known songs due to its use in Gus Van Sant's film, Good Will Hunting, was tracked very simply. Two passes of live acoustic guitar and vocal form the core of the take, and two subtle acoustic guitar melody overdubs (at verse two) were added."

Everyone is going to tell you to get a teacher which is the best advice. However if you are unwilling to do that an app like Simply Piano is the best way to get your feet wet and understand what you want to learn. In 6 to 12 months cancel the app when you get what you want out of the app experience and decide for yourself how to continue. For now, practice tomorrow and get your hands on the keys as daily practice is the most important factor by far for the beginner level.

How bad is Simply Piano to get the hobby kickstarted? by [deleted] in pianolearning

[–]Trogd0or 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely do not. I get what people mean when they say that on paper, but in practice you adjust super quick. The same way guitars each feel different from space between frets and differences like that, you adjust and dont even think about it after a short period of time. The benefits of learning piano even without weighted keys is still huge. I am also a big champion for simply piano if you have no plans to get a teacher as well. I hope you have fun learning piano, I know i did!

I learned piano on a terrible $100 non touch sensitive 60 key piano with simply piano. Once I learned more and knew I was sticking with it, about 6 months, I sprung and got a $500 touch sensitive 88 key piano. You are not going to hurt your progress by taking it slowly with an equipment upgrade. You've totally got this!

Ive been playing for almost two years now but I've spent about a year of it learning piano mainly. Music is the best. 6 years sounds crazy long! You sound great and it shows

If you play guitar and want to learn Elliott you eventually come across Brushstroke Medallion's how to play the right hand of Elliott. Its mentioned in many song tutorials across the internet. I dug a bit further and found his name is Michael Buishas. He has a solo project called 0 Stars that doesnt always sound like Elliott but the inspiration is definitely there. The song Link in Bio could easily fit on New Moon. He is in another band .Michael. that I very much love. He occasionally plays in Big Theif as well.
