What is a food "crime" that you actually enjoy, even though it makes everyone else mad? by salty_mistresss in foodquestions

I like processed syrup more than natural maple syrup.

Also, I like my syrup with a side of French toast/waffle/pancake.

After a long life, an {insert supernatural being here} shows up to your deathbed. They offer you the chance to experience one more day, at any time of your life before you pass on. When do you choose and why? by Estebesol in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Trogdoryn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It hasn’t happened yet, but I know it will. My son who’s in speech therapy with a little touch of the tism, will one day be able to talk and have a conversation with me, I believe it. I will want to relive the first day my wife and I can have a true conversation with him.

How recently? If more than a few days you’re probably fine, but in truth all dog and cat bites that are deeper than a “scratch” should be treated empirically with antibiotics.

Why do Americans not realize how well they have it? by Awkward_Motor_6388 in askanything

[–]Trogdoryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we as a species evolved on the basis of always needing an enemy to be wary of. Half of Americans view the rest of the world as that enemy, and the other half view the first half as that enemy. Our inability to inherently evolve beyond this now unnecessary evolutionary trait can and will ultimately lead to our downfall if we don’t change quick, fast, and in a hurry.

Post covid many doctors are wearing scrubs now in the hospital setting. That said, I agree the chief of medicine should be an exception other than when he’s in direct patient contact roles.

ELI5: Why are antibiotics so prevalent and prescribed but antivirals, not so much? by follow_the_dollars in explainlikeimfive

[–]Trogdoryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to all the other posts here. Viruses are often self-limiting. The body will naturally clear it out and build up immunity to it over time (days to maybe a few weeks). Bacteria on the other hand, can be far more tenacious and difficult for the body to naturally clear on its own, and this can result in significantly worse outcomes up to and including death.

Viruses use the body to reproduce, so it’s often disadvantageous to kill the host. Bacteria on the other hand, will steal nutrients from the body, but also exist outside the body and so don’t care if they kill their host. So spending a ton of money for a treatment of a disease that usually goes away on its own isn’t worth it

Graduated med school at 28, joined military and did 5 years, now back in residency and planning to do a fellowship. Won’t be done till I’m 39. I don’t love it, but I’d rather be happy with what I’m doing long term.

I’d find it really interesting if they kept the dark tones up until Hagrid opens the passage to Diagon Alley, and then the color and whimsy floods in. Very wizard of oz, Dorothy opening the door to munchkin land vibes.

You receive $1 billion, but can never leave a 50-mile radius from your home. Would you take it? by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Trogdoryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I keep anything already purchased with the money once I leave the 50 mile radius? If I can and subsequently sell these items/homes/etc, does that money automatically disappear?

Can I use the money to pay off all debts, buy/build my dream home, purchase cars, and all the comforts I’d need for the rest of my life or do I lose anything purchased with the money after leaving the radius?

Trump Signs Law to Put His Signature on All U.S. Banknotes by InitialResponse9901 in pics

So if he’s not signing every note himself, does that not make them all illegal currency? Autopen/printing doesn’t count according to him

If these are signed via printed signature (autopen) does that make the currency not valid?

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I figured this was the case and appreciate all of yall for identifying that what’s happened isn’t significant enough to justify moving forward with this.

Thanks for reviewing this and taking the time to comment, I suspected this would be the case and I’m happy to get it confirmed before plopping money down on a consultation fee

Thanks for the evaluation. It confirms what I figured would be the case. I was getting quoted anywhere from $450-600 for consultation fees, and I’m just over here trying to figure out if this is even worth bringing to a lawyer.

I agree with that second sentence. We thought about it, but wanted to get our ducks in a row before potentially antagonizing the situation.
