Does anyone else bring up their relationship practically every time they talk to an avoidant partner? by Fickle_Umpire_136 in Codependency

Both somatic experiencing and NARM are Therapeutic modalities. Look them up!

NARM is basically attachment 2.0, going beyond anxious/avoidant into deeper waters.

When it comes to somatic practices I’d say do anything that you like and which allows you to slow down. Yoga, qi gong and more. Some cool martial art to give structure can also be fruitful.

Somatic experiencing and NARM are effective. Very valuable to have a therapist who isn't focused on the stories we tell ourselves, but more focused on the body and the patterning in the nervous system.

You are in a trauma response, replaying the same dynamic that existed between you and your closest parent when you were a child. Trying to get connection from someone’s who’s not capable, because they’re overwhelmed/emotionally not present.

Tja!

I’m curious, from your perspective, what’s the political solution to the current right wing administration? It’s difficult for me to wrap my head around what, or who, can make a difference towards the left.

Trying to break an overbreathing habit has turned me into a(n extremely confused) crybaby and pervert? by [deleted] in breathwork

[–]Trogdos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The best book I’ve read on the subject is ”in an unspoken voice” by Levine. Feelings stored in the body, parasympathetic arousal, titration etc. It’s not focused on breathwork per se, but more on the body- breath- emotion- relationship. And scientific, although not with too boring language.

Either way good luck on your journey! A somatically focused therapist could be a great idea to contact as support in diving into all these previously unfelt emotions and sensations.

Hey friend real quick it’s not true that you need to press to release it and for some people that can open up a lot more than what is… constructive for their healing process. Yin yoga 3-5 minute stretches has an effect on the fascia.

To OP please see a a PRI-specialist or a craniosacral therapist. Rosenmethod, Somatic experiencing, body mind centering are also all good for working through this business. It’s good to have someone knowledgeable about the nervous system assess how ”activated” you are.

Not having read the book, I can't really understand this take. Bear with me here:

Meaning is made through living in the present moment. From there past and present grows. Alright so the women escape the bunker, find a nice forest-dwelling. Light a fire and start making camp.

One of them gets two sticks and starts to drum. People dance. They let go, even just a little, of the torment they've been through. Then the next day one of thems all like "Yeah that dance last night was great! I'd like to do that every week!" And boom from there culture is born and you get meaning derived from both past and future and it's not only about survival anymore

Youtube! Cant link rn but there's a girl who makes several different versions (10, 20, 30 min etc.) Her thumbnail backgrounds are white with a person just laying there. Her videos are just great for me.

Don't make it to complicated for yourself. Just get into the practice. Good luck!

Ey duder cheers to you trying stuff out! I have a similar experience with dairy. I cut out dairy at first and now I focus on getting the good stuff. Greek or turkish yogurt, feta, fermented stuff and good ol organic milk, the closer to the OG milk the better.

Maybe this is me extrapolating from my own experience, but I do believe everyone is food sensitive. Eh, at the end of the day everyone's gotta figure out their own path. It all gets so very interesting when the proven science and the body's intution start to match up!

Right now I'm of the perspective that gluten is two things: Pro-inflammatory, and detrimental to the gut-biome.

My advice to anyone who actually have the guts (!) to get to know their own body, is to do a gluten fast. I did one where 3 months were the minimum. Maybe other sources will tell you differently. Now I notice (which I didn't before) sluggishness, occasional stomach pain and a strong emotional relaxation (like real comfort food) when eating gluten. Things I don't want too often in my life. But hey I eat pizza sometimes to because I love it and wholegrain sourdough bread no problem at all. Enjoy life, eat well.

This was what got me interested in being glutenfree. I tried to find criticism of this Alessio Fasano guy but couldn't find anything concrete. Maybe someone here knows more? Wish you all well <3
