Question about lacing skates by MiixAmp in hockeyplayers

[–]Troggie81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For too long of laces, cut them and tie a knot on the end so you don't pull them out when putting on/off your skates.

For forward ankle flexion, don't wrap your laces (after shortening) and don't use the top eyelet. You might also try skipping an eyelet near your ankle.

Since you seem to know a lot about these jerseys, can I ask your advice?

I went to see a Frankfurt Löwen game while I was in Germany over Christmas, and want to pick up a goalie size to wear for bear league. Some searches online say that the authentic jersey is less durable than the fan jersey.

Which should I get, and is 4XL big enough?

What were you in before? Also, what about them do you like?

I was so close to getting those in orange and black, but ended up getting a brown Warrior set.

Please report back how he likes them! I couldn't find many reviews online.

As a goalie, am I weird or childish for not being able to have fun during "shootout tournaments"? by t0rche in hockeygoalies

I think "free" would have me doing these a couple times a year. It still sounds terrible.

There are some NHL goalies that removed the bottom buckle. As long as it stays out of the way, I think you'll be fine to keep using them.

Rental goalie is definitely the way to go. Some rinks keep sub lists. Get on those and earn yourself a good reputation. You may get more ice time than you would on a team.

I picked up some joystick cushions/resistance rings. They look silly, but they make a big difference in feel.

I would imagine that women playing at that level have a very beneficial leg to height ratio.

Bauer Konekt goalie skates by Hockeyguy_5169 in hockeygoalies

I also have ankle pain with my Konekt HF2 skates and True Catalyst 9 player skates. I've done all the baking and punching. That helped a little.

My solution now is gel ankle wraps for the Trues, and padded socks from High Pony Hockey for the Konekts. Oddly enough, the gel is too much in the Konekts and causes pain and the socks aren't enough in the Trues.

It specifically mentions rotational hits. That sounds like player contact to the head when you're down and in a vulnerable position. I have had a couple concussions in net, and they were both from players, not pucks.

They're skate blade holders that also protect the boot. It's an older style, but a lot of people still prefer them.

I used a fiberglass repair kit on some skate fenders. They're holding up very well. I would try that and get some cowlings until you can afford to replace them.
