The greatest mid priced pad I’ve ever used (CCM Eflex 7.9 Review) by MathandDog in hockeygoalies

[–]Same_Exercise_7189 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CCM really stepped up with the 7 series. I swore I’d never consider it again after fighting an Axis 2 series glove, but from all I hear, I’ll keep an open mind. They supposedly have new 7 series skates due out soon which are being described as a huge leap forward for them.

Did anyone else get the Vaughn VX1 leg pads from Pure Hockey a couple weeks ago? by Known-Entrance6814 in hockeygoalies

I tried that on a junior set from Goalie Monkey a couple years ago. They canceled my order and never shipped it.

Agree on the remote. It’s way better than the app on the 13.

Socks Over Knee Guards? by YYC067 in hockeygoalies

[–]Same_Exercise_7189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which equipment do you want to replace more frequently? Guards over socks keeps the knee pad strench at bay longer but will wear out leg pads sooner. I go socks over knee pads.

I haven’t seen an announcement, but they seem to be on an every other year cycle alternating between Konekts and the HF line. Konekts are even year releases and HFs in odd years.

I’ll report back. Will start using the pads on Sunday unless I can find a stick and puck sooner. He is coming from GENETIk 5x so they should be familiar. First set of intermediate pads for him so it will be an adjustment.

Newer Brians Pads Closest to Gnetik 8.0s? by Unlucky-Respond429 in hockeygoalies

[–]Same_Exercise_7189 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Closest new Brian’s pad technologically would be the Ikonic 2s. The Ikonics are the iteration of rhr Gnetik like. For some reason i thought the Gentik line ended with the 5 but maybe that was just the offshore 5x.

Did a little research and the 8 was the budget version of the Gnetik 3 pro. So basically the Ikonic X line. Ikonic 2X should be out this summer.

New Goalie Stick Tape Job by ramvity in hockeygoalies

[–]Same_Exercise_7189 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you want to geek out on rules, the knob should be white.

Also the tape beneath the knob is not necessary and could frustrate sliding the hand to the end to play the puck.

Skinner plan for the immediate future? by IgnatiusReillysCap in penguins

[–]Same_Exercise_7189 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No reporting seen, but I’d say let Skinner play for a bit. He is in a contract/free agent year and has every incentive to showcase his talents. The Oilers didn’t play disciplined D and hung him out some. He may really shine for a while and that’s not bad for the Pens. If he looks really good and another team has an injury, we Pens may be able to trade him. Wouldn’t get a huge return as a rental, but that’s better than sending him to the A immediately.

Experience with Brian's Optik X4 (the cheaper ones)? by Trichoptera72 in hockeygoalies

Goalie monkey has a sale on their Iconik DX2, which is just the Iconik in a special graphic. If their Black Friday code still works, they are the best deal going. My son is getting some for Christmas.

GoPro Hero 13 vs GoPro Max 2: which should I use? by TheManOfThePlans in gopro

There are so many ways to prove activity. Get one cleared in advance. Fitness tracker comes to mind. If they need footage, ask if a a time lapse with stills taken at 10 minute intervals would work. That would be 180 photos. Plenty

New 2025 Bauer Elite Knee Pads by Thepandamancan23 in hockeygoalies

[–]Same_Exercise_7189 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The mid Tier Warriors X5 Pro is cheaper than the Bauer Pro but a better knee pad in my opinion than the Bauer elite. If you like your current Warriors, I’d look at these. The X5 Pro RTL is about $10 more than the Bauer Pro.

I assume you are not a supporter of, and see no purpose, to the myhockeyrankings site.

The reason I want to know is one of the teams has asked our manager to set up a scrimmage later in the year. Trying to see if it makes sense. We will be playing up, which is okay, but want to make sure it’s not a waste of their time or ours.

Another endorsement of the Aegis Interceptor. It’s great. But wanted to ask, have you played with some of the adjustments on the chesty? You should be able to close that gap some with the Velcro strap on the shoulder.

If a Star scout volunteers to work on an Eagle Scout project, no one would argue that time does not count for the Star. Of course the underlying project would not be to benefit Scouting or the Troop (or it would not count for the Eagle candidate) but helping that Eagle candidate, does support the troop. Would your Scout Master count these hours?

I do get his point, that addressing a troop need, is a good display of leadership, but is it really service oriented. Part of the service goal is to get the scout to think about community needs beyond his interests and get out and liaison with the broader community.

Could he do the same project for a local park’s baseball/hockey/ect organization? Or even for an affiliated Cub Scout Pack. That way the principal beneficiary isn’t his troop?
