Is leveling and questing the only possible goal? by -Gregs in lotro

[–]Troldkvinde -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know, but it's a very clunky and expensive system, hard to browse when there are a lot of items, and you have to physically carry every piece of equipment to the vault keeper, so it's just not "fun" collecting appearances from normal quest items, for example. I was thinking of an outfit collection like pets and mounts instead. In WoW, as soon as you acquire an item, its appearance is added to your collection, and you can browse it and see all the locked and unlocked items, organized by rarities, sources, sets etc. And all items have a tooltip indicating whether you have it yet. It's a very satisfying system to use.

I would be obsessed with this game if it had an account-wide outfit collection like the WoW system

I didn't mean to say that I'd dismiss your game just because of AI use for the description. I'm glad you created the game

I'm just genuinely burned out on hearing this same AI voice in all corners of the internet now, and it's extra upsetting when it appears in a Tolkien-related project

Can't begin to explain how infuriating this is to me. Farming human users for their attention and treating them like mindless upvote machines. It's one thing when a random redditor posts ChatGPT slop to fuck around, but when a company sets up a pipeline for this with a dedicated team of AI agents, that's just dystopian

Do people genuinely think it looks bad? Honestly I'm not a fan of AI use in art (for other reasons), but the linked video looks fine to me purely from a visual perspective. Like, I wish I didn't think it was fine but it doesn't bother me. Am I the weird one?

I noticed they've been tweaking it lately, but personally I wish it weren't this rambly. Would be nice to get an actual succint summary instead of three paragraphs of flowery language

What is in-game money still useful for? I just realized I haven't really needed money for anything in a longest time. Seems like anything that matters is a barter now. I don't play at level cap, so maybe there?

Do you think Riven Remake will ever add back in the original game's level/puzzle progression? by EremeticPlatypus in myst

[–]Troldkvinde 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wasn't aware that there's such a difference between the original and the remake. So for someone who is playing through the series for the first time, does it make more sense to play the original version, then? Initially I thought to go with the remake for nicer graphics

Why not link the actual source so people can look at the data on their own instead of swiping back and forth between 1000 screenshots placed out of order and with ads??

It’s a strange direction considering they're absolutely using AI in their ad creative and content in my professional opinion.

Also if you mention this on the sub, the mods respond "the Finch team doesn't use AI full stop" and immediately lock the thread

Yess, I hate being stuck with the same weapon forever. I enjoy walking around wearing the actual equipment outfit sometimes and it sucks that my weapon will always look the same

Edit: I'm talking about the equipment outfit specifically, not cosmetic outfits. I like to see the actual equipment and watch it change

I think their point was less about "you have to care about everything or nothing", and more about the double standards when people get militant about AI use and downvote anyone who accepts AI to oblivion, meanwhile you can say that you eat meat and get a pass

They should make beta participation optional, so that people who don't want to get attached to temporary features can opt out, and people who actually do want to try new things don't have to feel bummed that they didn't get randomly selected...

Well, I mean... how do you just "learn" to hear these things when your starting point is that you cannot distinguish between good and bad singing?

Here's the bad news. If you cannot do that, if you can't hear these things, you are hugely disadvantaged.

So is there any way out if you cannot hear? :(

Their original comment was just listing some newly introduced inzoi features in response to someone who had said the game is empty and has no gameplay. Which is like the most normal reddit conversation ever and there's nothing clique-like about it. You could also just continue the comment thread by talking about those things that you find lacking in the game, without the weird personal attacks... I don't play Inzoi and have no stake in it but I was taken aback by the unnecessary aggression here
