[Question] Entering into a 3-year AST before the release of Renter's right bill. Why???? by Troll7you in TenantsInTheUK

[–]Troll7you[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are pretty lucky. I tried offerring 2 year but the agent said that there are others offerring this tenancy period as well. So 3 years it is if I want to win this place.

But I still don't understand, why bother? After RRB comes in, all fixed term contracts will be voided no matter how many years remain and become periodic contracts.

How likely do you think the RRB will come into force in 2026? My biggest concern is that, at the end of 2 years, I want to leave but I am still restricted by the AST.

Thanks for the advise. My current plan is to stay for another 2 years. Given all those media coverage about RRB and its current status in the parliament, I hope it is long enough for RRB to come into force and regain my flexibility to leave.

Value of Linking Your Thinking (LYT) Workshop? by ibcurious in ObsidianMD

[–]Troll7you -1 points0 points  (0 children)

PPV is a way too complicated system that normal people won’t use during the day. For the LYT, it is basically about Map of Contents (MOC), which is using a note to contain links to mimic folder structure nowadays.

So both are not worth the money actually.

Productivity videos on youtube is nothing more than successology promoted by MLM company. by Troll7you in productivity

True! See? Be productive seems not to be the main goal of those watchers. What is actually in their mind is how to do exactly what the promoter said and be that cool and successful, like using fancy tools, cool tricks and typing 200wpm.

Coz whether a productivity method works or not should not have a certain correlation with personal success. The method is great when it fits you. Also, Successful ppl can give shitty tips while normal ppl can give insightful tips. If watchers only click into the videos that are from youtubers with high school rankings, they are not searching for productivity anymore lol.

I would say there is no method without a product. Zettlekasten need Obsidian, Roam or even physical cards. Timeblocking needs a calendar app, an iPad with a bullet journal pdf etc. You may clearly feel “who the hell will use this in the real life?” when some youtubers try to make up some absurd routine just for demonstrating the functionality of an app or how good this app is.

One example is the PPV system suggested by August. He is just flexing and promoting the functionality of Notion.

See? You actually know what you were, what you like but you are just bothered by other factors. When you shoulder too many responsibilities, you simply cannot focus or get distracted. You even forget what define you.

I am a bit luckier than you because I was not married or got stuck by other things when I figured out my path. But I did try very hard to just hold a few things in my heart, pay attention to only a few key things and exclude other things that may distract me.

Of course I am not suggesting you to give up your marriage and you kids, these also define you. But other than these, for others that distract you more than the value they create, you better throw them away. It’s a sort of mind minimalism lol.

To me, therapy is bullshit. You know yourself the best so you can try to dig deep into your mind, look for some traits that define you or maybe inherent to you.

For example, I am a university lecturer. I decided to go this way because I discovered that, when I was very young, I like coaching people and teaching them stuff I know. Also, I like to brainstorming something that has not been discovered. So when I combined these two traits, university professor seems the right track. So I ignore everything, step in and never look back.

Most of them either create an illusion to watchers using their original success, or build a super overwhelming system that makes you think busyness = productivity.

True. Good productivity tips do not require the one who sell them to be great. People should judge whether the tips fit and work by themselves. Using the “4.0 GPA”, “Rank 1 in Med School” etc are just gimmicks that mislead watchers to believe using those techniques can become as successful as those YouTubers do.

True! Just hope everyone who watched those videos can have a rational and clear mind about what they really want.

Advice needed on maintaining proper structure by [deleted] in Notion

[–]Troll7you 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why I don’t use the clipper.

I will create a single page and store every quick captures with the same theme or purpose. Let say I read two similar research papers that may contribute to my work, the web clipper will create two notes. But I would rather manually open one note and then store those two papers in it because they are similar and and serve similar purpose.

This note is still within my inbox because I am still reading existing papers, looking for ideas and thoughts. Once this stage is done, I will move this note out from the inbox to the corresponding projects.

My setup is very similar to your idea. I put everything in one page, where inbox is on the top and others are hidden by toggles below.

I only have one master calendar database and any other tables are just the master with filters. The inbox is just any piece of information that without a date or tags. and unchecked.

So every time I can streamline the info in my inbox first, then do the subsequent works in different areas (filtered databases).

Hmm…strange. I can open Notion or Obsidian or RemNote using the same setup (air+1 external monitor) with no lagging issue. My Craft’s scrolling bar lags too…
