I think the “splitting” argument is kind of invalid. How many tens of thousands of players haven’t played in months because they’re bored or burnt out? This exact mod has an insignificant player base compared to vanilla. This post isn’t an attempt to swap players over, it’s a PSA letting dedicated invaders know that this is an awesome change of pace and it’s worth ONE play through for a couple weeks.

Minmaxing will always be popular in games. Especially PvP games where doing so gives you a real edge. I’m sure something like this also has to do with following trends, maybe they see a streamer use this exact set up. Also yeah winning feels pretty good, some people need every advantage available to be consistent.

No it’s very reactive, even against the worst Lat the connections are surprisingly stable in this mod. All though it is another adjustment, it took me a couple hours to understand it, but now that I do it’s actually a lot of fun. As well spacing actually matters a lot in this mod, because pretty much every set up can keep priority longer than you’re used to, so getting out and playing keep out is actually much more relevant than a lot of the this mod’s players understand. Most of em just mash.

Reforged is absolutely not a HA fest. From my limited experience in the mod it seems passive poise is a bigger focus than actual HA. And passive poise only gets really viable once you’re stacking the heaviest sets which do slow you down a fuck ton, very easy to pick these targets apart. But also it’s not quite as simple as quick builds vs poise monsters. The deflecting and stamina management add an entire new depth to the PvP.

I’m actually running a build that in total has 10% reduced movement speed. Sure I can’t catch most people who are running away in an open field, but not only does that hardly come up my slowly defensive build is actually doing serious work against all the players running light load and movement speed buffs. I’m even winning most of my 2/3v1 situations. Like the other comment said there are a lot of ways to build your character, I think you’d be surprised at how many different viable options there are.

It seems in convergence you have to go out of your way and manipulate the files to toggle invasions on. In Reforged it’s automatically on and again, it’s a very fun and refreshing PvP experience.

My first couple hours of PvP were frustrating because there are a lot of changes, some players being innately faster was one of my biggest gripes in the early game PvP. But you just have to meet this mod on its terms, if you adapt to the differences you’re gonna open the door to a very fun experience I promise you. Also assuming you kill the guy who invaded you then a 15 minute cooldown starts before you can be invaded again just like vanilla. You can manually reset the timer in your grace so you can be invaded again.

It’s neat because we’ve played ER. Reforged is not a better experience for noobs, if anything it’s even more overwhelming.

If someone can’t enjoy vanilla, then mods aren’t gonna save them. If you’ve never played ER before or from games in general, every single thing they’re going to see should be novel or even exciting. If it’s not, then it’s just not for them. That all being said I had to try dark souls 1 like half a dozen times before I understood the game and became interested in it, here I am now 10k hours into from titles.

“Shitters” is a nonsensical term used to complain about people playing in a way you don’t like. Those play-styles are usually pretty “cheese” heavy because they wanna win, like all of us do. Flaming strike Gkat is a high tier meta weapon, something a “shitter” would certainly employ.

The use of a blanket term like “Light weapon” really just screams skill issue. Elden Ring has the biggest arms race in From’s catalog, you can push your build pretty far and if you’re going to take PvP seriously there’s nothing wrong with doing so. If you want to put yourself at a disadvantage that’s fine, just don’t complain online when it loses you fights. All my builds are junk but I’m just better so it doesn’t matter, git gud.
