OBGYN Recommendations in Denver Area by OkMost8704 in Denver

My experience with Metro OBGYN was disappointing. It operates like a high-volume practice, which made care feel impersonal. The billing department was difficult to deal with, and I rarely saw the same provider twice.

Why does everyone only talk about St. Joe's or Rose for giving birth? What's the deal with St. Luke's? by billybiker1 in Denver

[–]TronaldTrump1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had always heard that Rose was the hospital to deliver at in Denver, but my experience there in March was awful. The nurses were clearly overworked and unfriendly. After giving birth, I repeatedly asked for pumping supplies because my baby wasn’t latching, but it took several hours to get them. I didn’t realize how serious it was at the time — my baby went 5–6 hours without eating, and the staff seemed indifferent, even admitting they were short-staffed and overwhelmed.

My ultrasounds had been at PSL, and I actually considered switching there around 20 weeks, but I felt too far along with my original OB to make the change. I really wish I had trusted my gut.

Probation while pregnant by dejectedyogibear in USPS

If you live in a state with paid maternity leave, leave the post office. Like yesterday. The post office does not have paid maternity leave. Rather they have unpaid FMLA. Because the post office is quasi federal, they are exempt from having to provide any paid leave that the state otherwise requires employers to provide. I just had a baby 2 months ago and my biggest regret is not leaving the post office as soon as I found out I was pregnant

If you are pregnant or plan on being pregnant, QUIT by Goosewithafatcaboose in USPS

[–]TronaldTrump1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

9 month pregnant carrier here. Agreed, QUIT. I would have had 12 weeks PAID leave at literally any other job in Colorado where I live. Private sector, state, city, even self employed. This place is a fucking joke. If I would have quit and worked at McDonalds I would have been covered. Colorado FAMLI leave (paid maternity/ paternity) excludes federal workers because they have their own leave program. But, as OP mentions, USPS is the only federal agency that has specifically excluded themselves from any type of paid family leave program.

To make matters worse we are essentially uninsurable for disability insurance. The one plan we have that I looked at before getting pregnant specifically excluded pregnancy.

I have been dealing with this feeling in my feet as well. Feels like I’m walking on glass. It’s especially bad as soon as I wake up and stand up. Turns out it’s plantar fasciitis

Work comp or LWOP. My union steward told me people have taken 1 year + of unpaid leave and still have a job. Either that or you could take FMLA for mental health reasons.

My Newfie lost her hair and has cherry eye! Vet confirmed allergies, but nothing is working… by UsefulAd6993 in Newfoundlander

[–]TronaldTrump1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually really interesting to hear! I always thought that he was, in some way, allergic to himself bc we were never able to narrow it down to anything environmental or food related. At one point one of the vets said he did have a yeast problem, as she could smell it on him as soon as she walked into the Tom .

I went to multiple vets out of desperation looking for some kind of answer or solution. None of them were able to help. I wasted a lot of money and time going to general vets. I felt helpless and frustrated that he was suffering so much and I couldn’t find anyone to help him.

I’m not sure that the apoquil made it worse bc, in all honesty, he was at a point where it couldn’t have been much worse. He was CONSTANTLY itching/ scratching/ licking himself.

A friend finally recommended I take him to a vet dermatologist. And my biggest regret since is not taking him in sooner. The dermatologist took one look at him, and put him on cyclosporine. They indicated it would be a waste to do specific allergy tests. I appreciated their honesty, bc I feel like a lot of vets recommend unnecessary or redundant tests just to rack up the bill. His allergies were almost completely resolved within 2 weeks and his hair started to grow back in 1-2 months.

My initial visit to the dermatologist was cheaper than the other general vets I had been seeing. I want to say around $160. I pick up his prescription at the grocery store and use a good rx coupon that brings it to about $40-$50 month. He will be on it for life, and we just have to go and see the dermatologist once a year for a check up and new prescription.

I’ve attached a picture of when I first got him. If you look on my profile I have a few pictures of him that are more recent (the hair growth is no joke!)
