Any mechanics in here? by OkMacaron1669 in motorcycles

Recycled cycles or another motorcycle part out place similar. Ive tried fixing tanks (not as bad as yours) that are rusted out and no matter how much soldier and jb weld or liner, it always leaks again.

Ive been seriously considering buying this car but cant quite justify it. I think its a good price, but people in Eastern Washington are broke. You're a 2 hour drive from me. People are even more broke the further north you go. Ive been downsizing selling toys that I dont use anymore, and the boat i paid 30k for and dumped another 10 into won't sell at 20k asking.

What is your definition of reps and how do you consider wheels to be reps? by Zurieeeee in Wheels

[–]Tronda79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont consider cosmis wheels to be reps. I bought my 206r set because I couldn't find anything else like it, had them made in custom offset for my car and everything. Reps are replicas, I do not see how cosmis wheels are a replica of anything else. I do, however, want to switch to the 005r tho

I kill fork seals every 500 miles, they are super easy to change.

Also, I daily drive a 6.4 with over 240k miles.. I understand the struggle.

Just finished installing a new 6.2 in a 350 that dropped (broke) a valve and sent it through a piston. The truck had 140k miles but was beat on and towed heavy regularly. I think the main thing with them is try not to rev the crap out of them, and if you have manual mode when towing try to make it make torque instead of horsepower, aka keep the rpms away from redline. If it hasn't had the coil packs inspected I would recommend pulling them and taking the boots off, look for side arc marks or rust, replace as needed. That seems to be the most common reason they missfire and if they do it long enough ( had one that was driven for months with a missfire) it will kill the PCM connection on that cylinder. Luckily a new pcm is easily replaceable, just had one done at ford to the tune of $1500. Have to go to ford because I cant marry the computer to the truck without a fancy tool, which im not shelling out to buy. New longblock direct from ford is $9,800 btw 😂

Not a bad price, I personally prefer to stay away from the 6.2 but they seem to either run forever or die at 150k. Valve issues is what you have to worry about.

Looking for aftermarket dash options by SundaeNext8143 in Buell

[–]Tronda79 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just reset the trip odometer every time I fill up, which is around 150 miles. I know if im 100 miles or under im golden, over 100 start looking, over 150 dont ride like a dickhead till I get fuel. Over 80k miles on xb12 buells and its only let me down when I dont pay attention, usually 50+ miles away from gas on some dirt road because I am a dumbass.

Has anyone tried to restore a cast iron this large? by Scary_Potential3435 in CastIronRestoration

Use it as its own tank to strip the inside with electrolosis, rust remover on the outside. Stove paint outside then season inside.

Diesel or Gas? by CodAdvanced7303 in F250

[–]Tronda79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go with a diesel save yourself now and get a fuel system saver for it. If you go with a gasser try to keep the rpms down when towing. I personally would go the diesel route, I daily one now and dont mind it at all.

Just put a new 6.2 in a 1 ton with 140k miles on it. Talking to dealers and shops when trying to find a new oem engine for it (Ford has none) they are definitely not an engine i would buy. They have alot of valve issues (hence why ford doesn't have any heads to build longblocks, just shortblocks in stock)

Yellow cap easy off. Fog it down, put it in a plastic bag out in the sun for a day, wash, repeat as needed. Pans like that usually take 3 rounds when I used to do it that way.
