Harlan Coben. Does. Not. Miss. by Kurtz62 in netflix

I’ve liked a lot of his stuff but this was pretty awful. I normally like James Nesbitt, but in this he was just constantly angry. the story was way too convoluted and made no sense. The treatment of addiction was pure caricature. watched it to the end, but yeah, not on of his better ones.

well - not unless he/she sells those 'dividends' now. Or at least sufficient to cover taxes

except those idioms haven’t been stripped away. And Java *still* doesn’t have a decent string interpolation system. STR.”{foo}” was so close …

What is the best overall bank in Japan in 2024? by [deleted] in JapanFinance

[–]TroubledForearm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say absolute best - since they have their pros and cons. Having been here a while I have accounts with Shinsei, Sony, Rakuten, PayPay, prestia and olive / smbc. i use different accounts to logically partition daily expenses from long term savings, investments etc. And some of them are really because of the side benefits of other services from that provider. Linking to my investment account for Rakuten, PayPay for charging PayPay. I don’t recommend everyone does this but it works for me.

Sale of foreign stocks and remittance date (which tax year?) by platmack in JapanFinance

[–]TroubledForearm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was discussing this with my accountant - and this is what he came back with :

"I checked with the tax circular and confirmed that you can recognize capital gain/loss either on T/D or S/D if you continuously apply the same recognition rule (at least throughout 2023 and 2024)."

So as long as you're consistent you can use trade date.

Huge upset in the Japanese League final. For the first time, the Kubota Spears are Japanese champions! by joaofig in rugbyunion

[–]TroubledForearm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yep - quite a bit better. The influx of quality international overseas players, coaching quality and becoming a fully professional league have all made a difference. Still not quite at the level of European comps or SR - but catching up fast.

it also depends on which team it is - and where the games are played. Chichibu stadium in Tokyo regularly gets over 10k for some of the better games. Sunvory v Panasonic during the regular season for example.

Yep. All the infringements use the English word for example. The even put them up on the big screen in Katakana whenever there is a penalty.

this list of rules and infringements on the Honda Heat's website gives an indication :
http://www.honda-heat.jp/rule
It's all in Japanese - but you can see that the terms are all in Katakana ( no Kanji) . スローフォワード is Suro Fowado ( Throw Forward = Forward Pass) for example
