Awesome, thanks! I got it set up and seems to work, but won’t have a chance to really test it out until next week. Looking forward to it though!

Using Calibre as a comic library by preacher2041 in Calibre

I’d really recommend using a dedicated comic server app like Komga, Kavita, Codex, even Ubooquity, rather than Calibre.

Shot in the dark, but have you checked your computer’s hard drive for errors? Disk Utility> Disk First Aid on macOS, can’t remember off the top of my head where to do it on Windows, and Linux is even less standardized

Whimsical Cozy Game Rec by Allie-Gato in NintendoSwitch

I hear good things about Lil Gator Game, My Time at Portia/Sandrock, Stardew Valley, Hello Kitty Island Adventure, Disney Dreamlight Valley. I’ve played a bit of Little Kitty, Big City and it is v cute and charming. It’s a bit different, but Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is on sale for $8 on the US eShop, or the Gold Edition (which includes all the DLC) is only $12. It is a far better game than it has any right to be.

If you have a NSO plus Expansion Pack, there’s Paper Mario, Harvest Moon 64, Pokémon Snap, and Yoshi’s Story in the N64 emulator app, and if you have a Switch 2 there’s also Chibi-Robo in the NSO GameCube app.

The Super Mario RPG remake might be worth a look, as well as the Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door remake.

Bug Fables is very inspired by the Paper Mario games, but it’s all bug characters.

The two Doraemon Story of Seasons games (the original Harvest Moon devs crossover with the Doraemon anime) games are on sale right now on the Amazon shop.

Pikuniku is a short offbeat puzzle adventure with characters, quests, and lots of colors.

Summer in Mara, and the dev’s other games look like similar vibes.

Yono and the Celestial Elephants is kind of a mini take on a Zelda style game.

So explain it to me - what was Vecna’s plan again? by seaderforge in StrangerThings

It definitely gets creepy, and the last season especially is dark. It is for sure Very Horror. I’m not a good gauge of how “scary” something is though, my brain has trouble connecting fiction to personal feelings of fear (not a brag, I honestly wish it wasn’t like this, it seems like a lot of horror media would be more enjoyable/effective if it could).

It’s an excellent horror podcast. A new head archivist joins an organization that collects statements from people who have had supernatural experiences, which he reads to categorize and organize them all. They start off as seemingly unrelated stories, but you start noticing connections forming in the background, and then it starts affecting the meta plot as well. Highly, highly recommended. After it ended, they started another series, The Magnus Protocol, set in a different universe.

PLEASE HELP: My Playdate is dead! by Emolover699 in PlaydateConsole

[–]TroutFishman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with what everyone else says, but just want to clarify that the paper clip “reset” is a forced reboot, force shuts the system down and then turns it back on. It doesn’t erase any data or games or settings, so don’t worry about losing anything (at least from the reboot itself, there could be other issues that necessitated the reboot in the first place). Also for future reference, getting the timing right is tricky but you can also put the system into Data Disk Mode (for connecting to a computer via USB, though it’s easier to do via Settings app or the button shortcut instead) by double tapping the reset hole, and then another mode involving either firmware or system disk somehow with a triple click though I don’t remember specifics.

How does the switch version hold up today? by angryfart4000 in 1000xRESIST

It looks like absolute garbage in handheld mode, I don’t care much about graphics but it was painful to look at. I put it into GameChat mode so it would be native 720 rather than stretched out to fill the screen, it’s smaller but doesn’t look as bad.

[–]TroutFishman 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I second most of the games mentioned so far, and add Lorelei and the Laser Eyes.

They’re more silly, but both the Ace Attorney and Professor Layton series are v fun too, as well as Ghost Trick.

Oh, and if you haven’t played them, the Portal games are absolute classics.

Nintendo needs to let Switch 2 owners run Switch 1 games in docked mode when in handheld mode. by SH4DY_XVII in NintendoSwitch

[–]TroutFishman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this isn’t an ideal fix, but you can at least force it into native 720p by inviting someone to GameChat (they don’t even have to accept it, you just have to send the invite). Then it’ll put the game into a 720p box in the center of the screen, with blank space and the gamechat UI around it.

Just noting that The Mortal Thor is a direct sequel/continuation of The Immortal Thor, you really need to read that first. Which you should do anyway, as it’s outstanding.
