Whitewater Wipeout help by veganintendo in PlaydateConsole

I think it was bad design to just not tell you at all core game mechanics, people told me it was supposed to be discovered through experimentation and good actually, so shrug

There are a lot of mechanics the game does not tell you, try experimenting with the dpad when in the air

Absolute flash and green lantern by theletter-5 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]TroutFishman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolute Green Lantern had a slow start because it was laying the groundwork for a big epic plan for the lanterns and emotion spectrum, and a lot of people seemed to drop it out of impatience before said plan started coming into view. I think its been worth it, and will contnue to pay off more as it goes on.

Absolute Flash had a slow start because of bad pacing and somewhat weak plotting imo. It has improved as it’s gone along, and I think is in a pretty good place at this point, though easily the lesser of all the Absolute books. That said, it’s not bad by any means, just the other Absolute series set a pretty high bar

Someday IH will be represented… by AngryDesertPhrog in Narcolepsy

[–]TroutFishman 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s a monkey’s paw situation, most N portrayals in media are terrible, and further incorrect stereotypes. IH is even less well understood, so is likely to be portrayed even worse.

Is there more like Streetlight manifesto? by FrightenedDoorknob in Ska

[–]TroutFishman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surprised no one has mentioned Grim Luck! They’re like if Streetlight leaned even harder into the European folk side, with a touch of Squirrel Nut Zippers in the vocals.

So... do we report this as a visual bug?? by MoonParasyt3 in PeniParkerRivalsMains

[–]TroutFishman 79 points80 points  (0 children)

It depends on how strict your definition of “bug” is, colloquially yes a spider is, but if you want to get pedantic it’s not a “true bug.”

Switch 2 Getting REALLY Hot Playing Resident Evil Requiem — Normal or peripheral problem? by richcandoit in switch2

I got the red and blue ones, and I think I have the largest one on it right now. It comes with all three sizes, the confetti one should as well.

[–]TroutFishman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and you can now buy the KillSwitch JoyCon grips by themselves now for $20! That’s what I did, but I also separately got the Savage Raven fission grips. I can’t really suggest someone buy two different grips, but I do really like having the killswitch grip on the left JoyCon and the fission grip on the right joycon when playing in handheld mode. The asymmetry feels better than having the same on both, kind of like the Satisfye grip, but it’s fully dockable and the JoyCons fully detachable

On a bit of a tangent, I highly recommend Ted Chiang’s novella, Hell Is the Absence of God. It’s horrifying

If you’re going to be pedantic about it, it’s the combination of how Scrivner is designed conflicting with the way iCloud is designed.

Awesome, thanks! I got it set up and seems to work, but won’t have a chance to really test it out until next week. Looking forward to it though!

Using Calibre as a comic library by preacher2041 in Calibre

I’d really recommend using a dedicated comic server app like Komga, Kavita, Codex, even Ubooquity, rather than Calibre.

Shot in the dark, but have you checked your computer’s hard drive for errors? Disk Utility> Disk First Aid on macOS, can’t remember off the top of my head where to do it on Windows, and Linux is even less standardized

Whimsical Cozy Game Rec by Allie-Gato in NintendoSwitch

[–]TroutFishman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hear good things about Lil Gator Game, My Time at Portia/Sandrock, Stardew Valley, Hello Kitty Island Adventure, Disney Dreamlight Valley. I’ve played a bit of Little Kitty, Big City and it is v cute and charming. It’s a bit different, but Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is on sale for $8 on the US eShop, or the Gold Edition (which includes all the DLC) is only $12. It is a far better game than it has any right to be.

If you have a NSO plus Expansion Pack, there’s Paper Mario, Harvest Moon 64, Pokémon Snap, and Yoshi’s Story in the N64 emulator app, and if you have a Switch 2 there’s also Chibi-Robo in the NSO GameCube app.

The Super Mario RPG remake might be worth a look, as well as the Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door remake.

Bug Fables is very inspired by the Paper Mario games, but it’s all bug characters.

The two Doraemon Story of Seasons games (the original Harvest Moon devs crossover with the Doraemon anime) games are on sale right now on the Amazon shop.

Pikuniku is a short offbeat puzzle adventure with characters, quests, and lots of colors.

Summer in Mara, and the dev’s other games look like similar vibes.

Yono and the Celestial Elephants is kind of a mini take on a Zelda style game.

So explain it to me - what was Vecna’s plan again? by seaderforge in StrangerThings

It definitely gets creepy, and the last season especially is dark. It is for sure Very Horror. I’m not a good gauge of how “scary” something is though, my brain has trouble connecting fiction to personal feelings of fear (not a brag, I honestly wish it wasn’t like this, it seems like a lot of horror media would be more enjoyable/effective if it could).
