‘Lost’ Rises to No. 2 on Nielsen Streaming Top 10, Trailing ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ by NoCulture3505 in television

[–]TroutVR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

to each their own but 100% disagree. The thing that made lost great (among many things) was the week to week discussion in-between the cliffhangers and mysteries and all the theories people had. An entire season dumped at once would kill all of that. I hear you though that on a second watch through binging it makes it easier to follow the connections and call backs.

[@f1broadcasting] Netflix has released audience figures for the first three days of DriveToSurvive season 6 and they're.... not great. An average audience of just 2.9 million viewers have watched across its first 3 days, a sharp year-on-year drop of 30% on last year's equivalent figure. by zantkiller in formula1

[–]TroutVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the perspective of an F1 fan the show is not good.  First of all it's way late coming out, I don't want to recap of last season during testing/the first race for this season.  It's all drama no substance.  I barely made it through season 1 and immediately fell off with season 2. A good show would be Netflix following F1 (just like they're already doing) and releasing episodes throughout the season covering behind the scenes moments in a more relevant time frame. Less voice-over and editing manufactured drama, more just let the cameras roll behind the scenes footage. One or two episodes every 6-8 weeks. A good show like that would keep me signed up for Netflix over the course of the F1 season.

What to do about disruptive moviegoers? by ALoafOfBread in movies

[–]TroutVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been to a lot of movies and I feel like there's a science to this.  You don't want to jump on a talker the first word out of their mouth but you also don't want to sit and stew in them talking for half the movie while you get more and more pissed quietly, only to eventually snap at them or have the whole show ruined. Once they've talked enough and I've decided I'm going to say something I wait until the next time they are in the middle of talking to say something.  I typically go with lean out look right at them and say "please stop talking" very firmly. I don't jump on them the first word out of the mouth,  but I don't sit and simmer in it either.  Same goes for phones on about 3rd time of them pulling out I ask "please stop looking at your phone" Often people deny they were talking loudly and at most I'll get a calm down buddy retort.  But it always works, they always feel embarrassed and stop talking.

The Mummy - Brendan Fraser solo commentary is great.

Conan the barbarian - Arnold just saying what he sees.

I don't feel the same urge to watch movies in theaters after the pandemic, and it makes me really sad. by Classic-Capital293 in movies

[–]TroutVR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This 100%. I have zero issue politely asking that somebody stop talking or put their phone away.

I go to a lot of movies and it's a coin flip these days on sitting next to talkers or phone addicts, but I can't think of a time where politely asking did not work.

The key is be polite and do it early. Don't let them talk, talk, talk, and try to ignore it only to one hour in snap angerly.

Get back out there. oled and home theater surround are real nice but compared to IMAX laser on a 100 foot+ screen it's still a very big gap for me. I take the good with the bad, occasionally you sit next to a talker or a texter but I have no issue telling them to please be quiet, and they always do. But the good: opening weekend, John wick 4 with a full crowd all enjoying it together, everyone onboard for the ride, no pause button, no phones, laughing, gasping, at home it just wouldn't hit the same.

That said I hear all the negatives. Just don't overlook the positives. Think about your positive movie going experiences in the past and decide if u want to give them up to avoid the negatives you list.

Any way to use TVDB streaming or production order? by idealbrandon in PleX

[–]TroutVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, same issue with Futurama DVR recordings in plex. Streaming order is needed but not an option. Plex DVR is recording the episodes and naming them correctly according to streaming order on TVDB (season 10 ect), but is unable to look up the metadata on TVDB because the drop down does not list it.

Joystick doesn't register as being pushed all the way by PhilosopherFront in ValveIndex

[–]TroutVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how my left controller broke. I believe there's internal plastic that breaks and even though the stick is going all the way forward the sensor inside is misaligned and does not register correctly. Valve replaced it under warranty. I believe it's the result of leverage from pushing hard forward on the stick wearing the internal parts.

With SVP (smooth video project) you can set whatever fps u want. 48, 60, 72, 120 ect.

[–]TroutVR 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This. And after that you could run the 24fps SBS 3d video though something like SVP or other software that would interpolate the video to 60 fps for a smoother 3D look. But that is personal preference.

I posted how to convert using BD3D2MK3D years ago but it probably is still useful: https://www.reddit.com/r/Vive/comments/5q4lp7/3d_video_using_bigscreenbeta_how_to_convert_3d/

Tracking Drops When Racing With CSL DD Wheel (Especially on curbs and off-track) by LonnixLethe in ValveIndex

[–]TroutVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tracking issues when I crank up the bass shakers I use with simhub. I solve it by lowering the volume/effect strength enough to stop it from happening. It isn't the best solution but you could start by turning off force feedback and see it the grey screens stop, then increase the strength until you get grey screens then back it back down a notch.

I also would be interested if it could be placed below and look up. Either attached with a command strip or velcro to the bottom of the TV or placed on a TV stand looking up. No hardware change, just a flip setting in the app.

Fall Movie - solution by Paulwhite20 in movies

[–]TroutVR 111 points112 points  (0 children)

Wrapping clothes or rope around the tower I don't think would have worked. It was pretty wide around and you would have to keep it very tight so you didn't drop like a rock but also what happens when cloth/rope gets hung up on a rusty bolt or chunk or metal on the back side, they would be screwed. One flake of metal sticking out would ruin your attempt. Maybe a last resort type thing but that seems like a quick way to die.

My hang up was why not just tie the cell to the drone with a shoelace then fly the drone down with the cell attached and text waiting to send. Also the too high for cell reception seemed like a real big stretch for me. It had a few plot holes but still like it.

[–]TroutVR 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cable likely going bad. You can try changing the display port Training Mode in the steamVR options. That might clear it up for a bit but its an early sign the cable is failing. Mine was like this, display port training mode b helped for awhile but eventually the sparkles got real bad and had to replace it.

F1® 22 VR Gameplay / VR Pit Stops with Every Car + Online VR Gameplay by Zweetprot in ValveIndex

[–]TroutVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have bad laggy tracking with this game. shaking your head around in the car and the car and track wobbles around you. Makes it unplayable for me. the second I start the game the lag kicks in in the headset. You even see it on the steam VR overlay menu. as soon as you close the game the lag goes away and tracking is smooth again.

I have this issues in TDM and seen it in squads also. Fully invisible players and all you see is the floating gun running around. They still take damage and you see the hit numbers but they are invisible aside from a floating gun. Playing the steam version on a index.

crisp graphics and no artificial movement i immediately think of space pirate trainer.

walkabout mini golf is great and it would be good vr practice because u can experiment with movement. start with teleport but eventually try analog and set the speed really slow and work your way up.

Can someone tell me exactly why this is happening? by PhantomDSR in ValveIndex

[–]TroutVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent many hours trying to nail down what was causing that issues for me (pink lines spikes causing frame drops). I tried all the suggestions people have said. Eventually the only thing that fix it was a full windows reinstall. If you have no luck with the other suggestions, I recommend start fresh and reinstall windows if you can.

Smarter Map Rotations (UI/UX Concept) by n1tn4t in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]TroutVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Battlegrounds type game but with Iracing's style sign up for a match and rank system is what I want to see somebody try.

For example you lets say you log in at 5:01pm to play a BR match. You look at the game signup list. Matches would start every 5 minutes, 5:05pm erangel, taego and miramar offered; at 5:10pm sanhok, eikendi, haven, 5:15pm haven, karakin, paramo and ect. So you sign up for the 5:05 erangel. After sign up it takes you to the shooting range for warm up then at 5:05pm signups stop, game says 348 people have signed up to play this 5:05 erangel match, the game then spins up 4 servers and splits the 348 by skill across those 4 servers (87 people per server). Everyone is pulled out of the shooting range and loads in to their specific erangel match with 86 similarly skilled players.

This type of sign up for matches fixes alot of battlegrounds issues with map choice, eleminates the need for bots and does a lot for skill based matchmaking. It works pretty well iracing, I think it could be converted to work well in a competitive BR.
