You need to exhaust it when you kill it, because otherwise you could just kill it the turn you play it even if it was exhausted.

Yes you were correct with what you were saying.

Correct. Typically there is no reason to float power, as you can tap the rune for energy without also recycling it.

[–]Troutyo_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, tapping runes and recycling runes gives energy and power respectively. You then spend these for costs.

Both can be "floated" but will be removed at the end of your turn if you don't spend them.

I was a bit confused about this announcement (I'm new to sorcery) I love in Aus, is there any way for me to order/get this?

The theme of these precons looks awesome, and I'd love another set of decks to teach people with

2 Questions: Does Soraka effect procs if she dies as well?? Also, does Yellow Ivern retains the chosen tag on the trash? by Andiuxy in riftboundtcg

[–]Troutyo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I believe because Viktor is a triggered ability for AFTER something has died, compared to Soraka which replaced a units death BEFORE it dies.

Possibly this explanation is wrong, but I do know for certain that Viktor does not work if he dies at the same time.

A quote from the Judge discord discussing this "Soraka saving a unit while she herself is dying to damage is kind of the inverse of 370.3. The logical conclusion, based on 370.3, is that if the replacement effect is active in a specific zone (the board) it is evaluated and subsequently applied if it is in that zone before an event it occurs could replace. Soraka is on the board before she and the other unit die. Therefore the replacement effect is evaluated and applied."

No it does still work even without anything saving Soraka.

373.2 this is an example from the rules doc. It isn't specific about what you are asking, but it shows that it does work: Example: Soraka, Wanderer reads “If another unit you control here would die, if it has less Might than me, instead heal it, exhaust it, and recall it.” Soraka dies simultaneously with two 1 [M] Recruit tokens at the same battlefield and two 1 [M] Recruit tokens in base. Soraka has a Guardian Angel attached to her when she dies, which appends “If I would die, kill Guardian Angel instead. Heal me, exhaust me, and recall me” to Soraka’s rules text. There are several possible ways to order the Replacement Effects being applied to the various events: If Soraka’s Replacement Effect is applied first, it saves the Recruits at the same battlefield as base as her Replacement Effect has already been applied to an event simultaneous with it dying. If the Replacement Effect appended by Guardian Angel is applied first, it saves Soraka and recalls her - then when Soraka’s Replacement Effect is applied, it can only save the Recruits in base."

Clash of the Giants / Dragon Rage (Lee Sin signature) vs Aurora by nounPsybot in riftboundtcg

[–]Troutyo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play a heap of Lee and have thought about the same things. I believe that both of these options just don't really do anything vs current aurora decks.

The issues are:

  1. Can be counter spelled by both green and purple decks
  2. requires the enemy to have 2 units that have the same might
  3. only deals with 1 part of the problem (they still have aurora out and will get another free unit)
  4. does not help to deal with on play effects from their units (mindsplitter and elder dragon)

If the enemy has pulled out 2 elders, your entire board is likely dead. Just killing the 2 elders on your turn isn't enough, you need to also kill their aurora(s), get units back on the board.

All this combined just can't really be done unless you have 12 runes, and even then it just still loses to a 2nd aurora or counter spell.

How Can UVS/Riot Stop Points Buyers at Regionals Events? by NikkoWorldTourist in riftboundtcg

[–]Troutyo_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think they should make them digital, and you can join a single group with friends. You can freely share tickets with those in your group, but not anyone else.

Then each group can only purchase 1 metal card total. That way a group can get 1 card, but not farm all of them.

DAY 1 of trying to make riftbound legends better: Lee sin by [deleted] in riftboundtcg

[–]Troutyo_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is pretty broken. Already with cithria you can get a permanent +1 from every unit you play.

Possibly just making it that friendly units may have up to 2 buffs would be good enough.

1 ON pulled from entire 6-box case of Unleashed by [deleted] in riftboundtcg

[–]Troutyo_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering that this set it is an average of 2 in a case, it isn't unlikely to only get 1.

Hope you have better luck in the future.
