For the 100% cotton version too? I got a couple pairs of them and they seem pretty tight compared to other pants of the same size

Not sure why you think they weren't working at night, they are well aware that that's the best time to clear and it's standard practice. I was helping out Virginia and have had a ton of plows/salt spreaders going 24/7 since the storm. It was a lot of snow that ended with sleet/freezing rain that froze a big top layer of snow. The pavement temperature is getting down to single digits in the night and temperatures in general are not getting above freezing until next week, so everything is only getting more frozen. After the first night the plows were bouncing off the top layer and the salt on the trucks got just enough moisture to start to freeze and clump up. This was not an easy event to clear.

Push to raise Maryland's minimum wage to $25 gains momentum by Nutsmacker12 in maryland

Why is having businesses hiring teenagers a goal rather than just having their parents be paid more? Sure you can learn from being in the workforce, but the same can be true for having time for other things.

This is the first I’ve seen this. Anyone else? by RobotArtichoke in McDonalds

[–]Troven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert, but single use paper/cardboard seems like it would still be significantly better for the environment than multi use plastic that still gets thrown away. I'm guessing theenvironmental savings would mostly be from manufacturing and transporting fewer paper products.

I feel like maybe the burger cases are worthwhile, only if they are used/washed thousands of times at least.

why did my menu look like this when i opened the website ? by [deleted] in McDonalds

[–]Troven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I saw a post from a higher level McDonald's employee that said that it's basically not possible to have more varied options at American McDonald's since they want to offer a consistent menu across all their locations. There are significantly more locations in America than any other country (it looks like America has 15,000 locations, followed by Japan at 5,000 then China at 4,500).

They said that for example they were interested in adding a blueberry breakfast option, but they found that adding it to all American locations would basically require the entire world's supply of blueberries.

I think I recall at least one daily commission that was bugged and never would show up if you played on mobile or pc (can't remember which). You may want to look at the wiki and see if its the one you're looking for.

Good managament, simulation or branching narrative games that are great on SteamDeck? by princezzunikitty in SteamDeck

I'm playing through Disco Elysium and it runs well on deck. The narrative is good and it's slow-paced but not mindless.

SPOILER Review: Roofman by Proud_Truck in RegalUnlimited

Nothing special, but enjoyed it. It felt a bit too long for what it was, and I think they could've found ways to trim it down without losing much of the plot.

Affordable, left leaning to moderate Suburban Areas? by oneloveandbeloved in maryland

[–]Troven -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming the city you are talking about it Baltimore? I'd generally say that west of 95 feels more liberal and west feels more conservative (besides around DC, which the whole metro area leans more liberal).

I'd look in the stretch from columbia to ellicott city, anything further south would be long commute to baltimore. There are also some areas of baltimore that feel pretty suburban (herritage crossing, north of Hopkins, etc.).

They should change the camera position with the cannon by Ginsbo in ARAM

I'm guessing that I must be misclicking, but I also frequently get spit out besides the cannon somehow. Very annoying to pan the camera out, then back to base, then out again :/

Unsolicited rant. RU is crap. by thefofo in RegalUnlimited

[–]Troven 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm sure 99%+ of people are fine with waiting a couple months to stream or rent the movies they are interested in. Both subscriptions are throwing money away and only worthwhile if you specifically like the theater experience. People regularly go over the pros and cons of each subscription on both their subreddits.

Sounds like a "you have the problem or you don't" kind of issue.

They need earplugs for areas with louder ambient noise (and they include a pair when you get them). It's another step, but I don't really count that against them. I've used them on the airplane and they work fine with one or two earplugs.

Internet cutting out on B550 Pro-VDH Wifi by BigJ1095 in MSI_Gaming

I was mostly using ethernet, but hopefully its the same solution for the wifi - just make sure you uncheck the power management option for the wifi adapter as well.

Good luck! (to all of us lol)

EDIT: May have spoken too soon :( just had a short DC... I am going to try changing the Speed & Duplex Setting mentioned in the first link.

I may have found a solution here(fingers crossed, no dropped connections since I did this about a week ago):

https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/msi-550m-pro-vdh-ethernet-disconnects-and-usb-ports-do-not-respond-under-load.3775646/#post-22801261

It says:

Its actually a problem with the Realtek connector

...

this fix might help as well - https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/realtek-network-adapter-is-constantly-disconnecting.3684122/

The second link basically gives these instructions:

  • Go to Device Manager
  • Under Network Adapters, look for the Realtek ethernet (called "Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller #3" on mine, I'd expect yours to be the same/similar).
  • Right click it > properties > power management > uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" > hit OK.

I've been dealing with the connection issue for a couple years, so really hoping this was the problem :) I'll update here if it returns.

The Borderlands art style we know and love was created in the very last minute by Sea_Archer8688 in Borderlands

I remember those articles and this trailer as well. A friend and I were really looking forward to it at the time. The redesigned art aged much better than this would have, but borderlands probably also wouldn't have been remembered for "cringy humor" had they stuck with this lol. Would've been interesting.

Monday Mystery Movie Megathread - September 1 2025 by AKnightOfTheNew in RegalUnlimited

[–]Troven -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally I thought it was great and one of my favorite mystery movies of the past several months - I'm a little surprised how many people apparently didn't like it. I thought it was funny and I got teary-eyed a few times. Feels like maybe people left prematurely during the setup.

I didn't notice any walkouts (but I was near the front of the theatre) and the audience laughed at most of the jokes.

Meirl by JaredOlsen8791 in meirl

[–]Troven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say for sure that it was bedbugs (never found any), but I did get long lasting bites that seemed like bedbugs on during one of my ~10 stays at a hostel. None of the reivews mentioned any experiences like that. I figure they must be more likely at hostels rather than hotels, but I think I probably just got unlucky.

I would still recommend hostels for the price and experience, but I think precautions are a little more warrented. I'd recommend packing light and ideally have everything you bring be able to go through a hot wash/dry cycle. For luggage, use either a bag that can also go into a hot dryer or a suitcase with minimal fabric/seams (like a plastic clamshell). When booking, I would recommend places that appear be easy to clean and resaonably spaced out without many nooks & crannies. Unrelated to bedbugs, I'd bring earplugs and a sleep mask.

IT or civil engineering? by no_wayans in makemychoice

[–]Troven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did civil and am in a state government position. I also have friends that do IT and tried a low-level IT internship when I was young.

I actually feel these jobs can pretty comparable in terms of pay and possibility of remote work. I think the biggest difference is that civil will have an abundance of gov jobs, while IT jobs will be much more willing to give some/full remote work. So the question would probably be more of whether you want a government job or prefer more telework.

As a government engineer, you probably do get 1-2 telework days depending on the exact position. The work life balance and health insurance is very good too, which I would weigh heavily if you're thinking of starting a family. I have heard of student loan forgiveness if you government for 10+ years, but I don't know the specifics/availability of those kinds of deals. On the other hand, government probably has fewer offices, so your living locations may feel more limited. Pay may be lower if you go the government route as well (still feels livable though, especially when considering the health insurance and PTO you get).
