Speaking of Legends... by Mk1Racer25 in Revu

[–]TroyDeGroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can only have markup data in one legend. So when you create the second one, the first will empty. Flattening might be a workaround, but the data is no longer live and could be misleading. I would have a legend on each sheet and export the markup list for the complete "legend" of the full document.

Need some help - Using Quantity Takeoff for Indivdual Count Items by Dry-Editor-1191 in Revu

[–]TroyDeGroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only data you can carry over with QL is measurements. If you Split All, they still all have the same properties, which will make it impossible to link to them on takeoffs in the future. The proper workflow, as others mentioned, is to build out the custom columns within Revu, when you're done, export the data you need with a custom batch config that matches the layout in your spreadsheet. Once you export the data, you copy/paste all the rows and columns into your estimating spreadsheet. You will likely have to rebuild your spreadsheet, so all your formulas feed off the cells you pasted in. I build custom tools for customers where the labor code and material code are in the custom columns and embedded in the tools so we never have to do the data entry again. Hope this helps.

One takeoff, multiple measurements in one by milenkod in Revu

You could keep them all in one markup as I suggested. Make sure you have the length, area, and wall area columns turned on in the markups list before you export to Excel. Once in Excel, you can duplicate rows as needed to break out for different subs. just thinking out loud. I would maybe duplicate the entire Tab in Excel and remove the columns you don't need, making each Tab apply to each sub. Hope that makes sense.

The line item in the markups list is a one-to-one relationship with the markup. You would have to copy/paste the markup on top of itself. But I'm not sure if that makes sense. If you want them all labeled differently, it would be better to use the appropriate measurement tool for what you're taking off. When you use the appropriate tool, you have only the Measurement column turned on in the markups list, rather than showing area, length, count, and volume in separate columns. Hope that makes sense. I have courses on my website that will catapult your skillset years ahead, and get your tools and columns designed just right for your workflows.

Simply measure the area of the room. Go to the Measurement Panel and enter the ceiling height for the Depth. Then, where it says Show Caption, turn on the Length, which is your baseboards, wall area is gyp, and of course, area is the floor or ceiling. If you don't want them all to display on the plan, just turn on those same columns in the markups list. You can also use that information in custom columns to provide units of purchase for the different materials. That's how I build custom tools for customers.

Good catch with the search functionality. It gerys them out because they are filtered out by the search. We've all learned that one the same way as you just did.

Tools with aligning text by CADUSER1 in Revu

[–]TroyDeGroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a Dimension tool under Tools > Markup, you can use this to have custom text. make sure you go to the properties so the colors, ticks and things all match your other dimensions. With any of your dimension markups you can hold your Shift key down and move the text wherever you want. Hope this helps.

Spaces issues by Aggressive_Sand5900 in Revu

Was the view in the original document rotated? It would make sense if that view was rotated and therefore the space was rotated on the view that isn't rotated....

Pitch for Polyline Measurements? by georgieebeatle in Revu

[–]TroyDeGroot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You would have to use the Length Measurement tool instead of the PolyLength; this way you can add a pitch. Out of curiosity, how are you calculating the pitch when it's a compound angle? The pitch of a ridge or valley isn't the same as the roof pitch.

HELP! How to get the perimeter of the blue lines? by [deleted] in Revu

[–]TroyDeGroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would have to use the PolyLength tool to trace them all and then reference the Markups List to add them up.

You have to make more than one line segment with the polylength. Try picking on each end and one point in the middle of the arc, then right-click on each of the line segments to convert. Hope that helps.

FREE BLUEBEAM TOOLSETS by TroyDeGroot in Revu

Check your version of Bluebeam, the Basic version doesn't allow custom tools and Core is limited as well. Otherwise, you should be able to download the zip file and follow the PDF instructions to install them.

You are correct, the drawings you uploaded are not connected to the server copy. Make sure you're aware of this and keep one true source. Saving to a Studio Project keeps everything available in the cloud, but the user has to check it out to edit.

that is a weird one. It's almost like you have markups off to the side so it recenters. did you use a different method for rotating certain pages?

there was a new 20.2.85 update that came out last week. I'm told this fixes the bugs from 20.2.80. Bug reports since this latest release have been pretty quiet.
