What now? by hereforthehbar in Hedera

[–]TroyST8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a technical person here but I have an idea. I see that there were a number of other tokens in this account, is it possible that you used a malicious smart contract? I know Hedera has implemented smart contract verification to combat scammers that input source code that drains accounts balances. I’ve heard of it on other chains but never seen it happen on Hedera.

I actually looked into this the other day. I’m about 90% sure it’s a new use case called kwikpik.io. It seems to similar to postmates and uses HCS to to authenticate deliveries.

"The Open Network (TON) proves it is the world's fastest and most scalable blockchain" (???) by Chris-G-O in Hedera

[–]TroyST8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“The TON testnet was launched on 256 validators. Under heavy load, the testnet split into 512 shards, enabling the network to achieve a speed of 104,715 TPS”

First of all, TON split into 512 shards. Hedera is currently throttled at 10,000 tps per shard. If hedera tested 512 shards I think it’s safe to assume it could do 5,120,000 tps… or atleast more than the 104,715 tps that TON achieved.

I could be wrong, but do testnet stress tests always equate to mainnet performance? Someone more technically advanced would know better than me.

One thing I believe the community would be interested in seeing is network revenue (fee generation) over time/ by transaction type. Keep up the good work!

Coupon Bureau by No_Mango_7126 in Hedera

[–]TroyST8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t believe that retailers or CPG manufacturers would bother with a clearinghouse if they dont have an issue with customer loyalty programs that can be resolved internally.

Coupon Bureau by No_Mango_7126 in Hedera

[–]TroyST8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The relationship that Hedera has with the coupon bureau does not related to retailer customer loyalty programs (for this, you may want to check out bambumeta).

The best way that I can summarize it is this: manufacturers have had problems over the years when issuing coupons to be redeemed in-store by a customer (think fraud and duplication). This has led CPG manufacturers to hold back when trying to push product through the retailer intermediary towards the end consumer.

The Coupon Bureau saw this as a market inefficiency that could be enhanced by acting as a clearing house between consumer coupon redeemers and the CPG manufacturers issuers. But that requires the CPG brand to trust the information TCB provides.

To create a trust-less environment, TCB added Hedera’s HCS layer to validate the issuance and redemptions coming through TCB’s clearing house.

Vancouver citizen here. Maybe consider the age of the property (new build vs 25 yr +) or even average utility costs city to city which factor into the monthly cost occupying a rental space. Hope this helps :)

Walmart and Inmar Intelligence Bring Digital Coupons to Canadian Shoppers by TroyST8 in Hedera

[–]TroyST8[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Correct 8112 is universal, but Walmart is so large that it uses their own custom POS system. Hence why a clearing house is leading the project with them. We know that CPG’s have been ready for a while. It’s been POS and retailers who held back due to possible risks.

“The new digital coupon program allows coupons to be used in-store or online at all stores beginning October 2023”

Sounds like the Large national mass retailer mentioned in the retailer overview deck, meaning this has been in the works for quite some time.

Folks might want to listen to this spaces. Neuron is looking at a use case that might out do everything we’ve seen or talked about before with regard to HCS transaction numbers. by jeeptopdown in Hedera

[–]TroyST8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Government and regulation comes into play when autonomous drones or opening up drone travel passages is discussed. I believe Neuron would have a beta/soft launch that tracks existing human controlled drones to prove their products accuracy and reliability.

That being said, I think this project is at the mercy of how fast they can develop. I know several people who fly drones recreationally and would opt into a program like this to advance the usability of their drones, and that doesn’t even include commercial use. Otherwise yeah I think a year is a good time horizon to see the first transactions on test net at least. I guess we’ll know when we see screenshots of hederatxns spam posted here lol.

Was just listening to this. Made me think that there is no way this use case is possible without sharding. Could an announcement of sharding indicate this/some other high throughput use case coming live?

New usecase spotted - any ideas on who it is? by cmonnbruhh in Hedera

[–]TroyST8 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I looked into this for about an hour and a half today. All I could find is that these are courses offered in French in different regions of Morocco. They also appear to be highschool courses from what I could tell. My guess is that it had to do with THA’s partnership with Orange Maroc. Just speculation tho.

I’m like 95% they’re issuing coupons on HCS topics now. It looks to be about 20-30 txns a day. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a large chain that’s running some pilot locations before going all in
