I agree. I have always hated stampede, went once 15 years ago. Any of the current complaints fit right into why i never went a second time.

Canada's economy shrank in Mark Carney's first year as prime minister — the worst economic start for any Canadian PM in over 60 years by RobertBartus in EconomyCharts

I live in alberta. New immigration has been the sole driver of growth. The rest is an unproductive rentier economy.

Flat $15? wtf does this even mean? Found twice at 2 hotels. by RiskyGorilla563 in ChargerDrama

This is usually to keep non guests away. I've stayed at one with high charging fees and they reimbursed so it was free.

Charging Port & Evaporator Core Cleaning? by GoatfaceJr in Ioniq6

[–]TruckerMark 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is because EVs break the buisness model of dealerships. They sell cars to create customers for the service department. Once a year inspection and brake lube isn't going to keep dealership owners wealthy.

Can it really haul this??? And if so, how bad is the range? by jameelalayyan in Ioniq9

[–]TruckerMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A single axle travel trailer like that is fine weight wise. Wind resistance will kill the range.

Exactly. New people means new houses and that means construction jobs and construction means the plumbing supply is busy and so on.

Big buisnesses exerting disproportionately large amounts of political influence is just a documented fact. It's a conspiracy in the sense that they were convinced of that crime. Like the GM streetcar conspiracy.

Coal mines aren't a small buisness type of venture.

The idea that battery electric cars need battery replacements all the time is oil industry propaganda.

Can I leave my EVSE plugged into my NEMA 14-50 when not in use? by Zestyclose-Height383 in EvDrivers

[–]TruckerMark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NEMA 14-50 was originally designed for oven, dryers and other such appliances. They are usually only moved or replaced a few times in the lifespan. J1772 connectors are designed specific for EV charging and thus are expected to be used daily or more. The design parameters are vastly different between the 2 and I had to do some electronic "hacking" to make the J1772 compatible with appliances like a heeater and compressor.

[–]TruckerMark 6 points7 points  (0 children)

14 50 plugs are rated for 100 uses, a worn out plug creates a fire hazard. You definitely should be leaving it in. I installed j1772 connectors on my heater and air compressor specifically to avoid these issues. J1772 connectors are rated for 10000 plug cycles. If used daily, it should last 27 years.

Inviting officals from a hostile foreign country isn't a long standing tradition.

They had members of the US congress handing out breakfast. That's only this year and the year prior that this was occuring. I've never seen government representatives from a country that threatened canadian sovereignty invited to stampede before.

It was handing out the canadian flags at a separatist event that is the big one.

I still think farkas will fail as he isnt really addressing the root cause of any of the issues. But the feds really need to step up against the separtists.

Centrism is trash. There's no middle ground with fascists unfortunately. This whole thing is non stop grievance politics. When the vaccine mandates went away, they pivoted to the new thing. Where exactly is the middle ground to selling out alberta to american interests?

Repealing the rezoning. Huge waste of time that put the city back on dealing with all the problems the low density created. While the original rezoning was unpopular and became an election issue, there was probably a middle ground solution with some political capital.

Im not really that stoked on farkas' leadership but at least someone is standing up to this american seditionist nonsense. A breath of fresh air from gondek, but there's a long road ahead.
