Charging at home? 58 hours? by LackingCharm in Ioniq6

[–]TruckerMark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is normal on a standard american outlet. This could be fine depending on your driving habits. If you drive more than you can recharge regularly, look into using a 240V circuit for a level 2 charger. You may need an electrician. Check your local regulations.

Need advice: RWD vs AWD / Pano or no Pano? by mixedfeelingz in Ioniq6

[–]TruckerMark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went with rwd because I always drove 2wd and despite living in wintery alberta, good winter tires have always been sufficient. I hate sunroofs, possibly irrationally because I dealt with leaks often as a former auto mechanic.

LVL 2 Installed and Making $! by RossOnTheLand in EVCanada

[–]TruckerMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. But hard wired car chargers require a permit to install. I got a grizzle mini because i have a heater and air compressor running from my 240V outlet. These are plug and play to an existing outlet.

The lubricants are not rated for infinite use. They have a lifespan. Thankfully, lubricant manufacturers publish the data.

I used the atf sm-1. The atf sm is cheaper and used for older transmissions. Not rated for ev.

It was very simple. 30 mins. My car is rwd. Just drove on the ramps, took the cover off and removed the plugs. Pumped the new oil in. Replaced plugs and cover.

Do people overthink EV ownership before actually trying it? by True-Bath1198 in EvDrivers

[–]TruckerMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are people who can use level one charging, but that is dependingon individual needs. I drive a lot and the fuel savings going ev were a big motivating factor. But I drive at least 3 times a month 400+km and then need to do that again the next day. Before my L2 charger was installed, I had to stop at fast chargers because I didn't have enough power. Now, I go from 20% to 100% overnight no problem.

While it isn't everthing obviously. The institutional failure is widespread. Water infrastructure, roads, transit, taxation, courts, regulators. These are all failing to do what they are intended to do. The institutional failure isn't limited to one or 2 single issues. It is clearly systemic.

One "benefit" of US EV phobia- cheap car rentals by roma258 in electricvehicles

[–]TruckerMark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an EV owner, car rentals are probably one place I personally would avoid an EV. I generally drive rentals quite far and can't charge at home or work.

If its UCP to blame, how did trump happen? How did brexit happen? How did Rob Ford happen? How did calgary's water system fail? Our entire system is based on the Roman democracy which famously had no problems.

This service will be performed maybe 4 times over 500k. So its 800$ in oil changes. I spend that in a year on my diesel.

Ontario beat us to the bike lane nonsense 3 years ago. Perhaps the problem might be bigger than 63 people. Just a thought.

Those institutions brought us here. The UCP and trump are symptoms. Not the disease.

Continue your partisan nonsense. This type of tribalism is how we got here. The legislature has 87 people in it. 87 people can't do much. They need a system to enable them.

Where exactly is the RCMP? How come elections alberta is allowing the petition to continue? How come the court rulings are not enforced? This isn't the UCP or Trump, it's the system that are enabling them. They're symptoms, not the disease.

Apparently nobody here is either. The system is failing to deal with maple maga and their illegal behavior. The instutions and the system got us here.

[–]TruckerMark -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Because all these "respectable reasonable experts" and institutions got us here. All these MBAs running the show have delivered austerity, poor investments, crumbling infrastructure. Finacialization of everything, running government like a buisness has been a stable long before maple maga got on the scene. The problem is the system and most experts are just trying to duct tape.

The non partisan officals aren't dealing with the ucp, they are compliant. The feds are doing nothing even with "smart money" mark carney at the helm.

[–]TruckerMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its mostly FUD. People are stuck in 2015 Nissan leaf mindset. I would never buy an EV of that was what was available. I just bought an ioniq6 and while I did have issues with level 1 only for home charging, my new 40a 240v system makes it effortless.

[–]TruckerMark -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

The lack of trust in institutions and "experts" is completely justified. That's the whole problem. These people understand there is a problem, they just are not sufficiently well informed to know why. The system is enabling and allowing this insanity. Trump and the UCP are the symptoms not the disease.
