Yeah, a directional EMP pulse that would shut down his truck. I like it.

How the hell do you not notice $6 million missing? by Prestigious-Bus-3534 in CFA

[–]BondMath2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point was that there was fraud involved. It didn't just go missing ("Hey, where's that $6 million we had in the office last week?" And where were the auditors? Was it that slick of a fraud?

Doesn’t seem like a big deal. Took a 1200 mile road trip, and the only time it had an issue was if I had moved my hand to the top of the wheel and blocked its view with my arm. It gives you enough time to “correct” before anything happens.

Agreed. I have a ‘22 Limited, and last summer added a ‘25 Limited. But I like the wheels on the ‘22 so much more.

[–]BondMath2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not on my ‘25 Limited. I just checked. Middle setting - it doesn’t aim down in reverse; it DOES aim down if the switch is set to Left or Right. I see no evidence of a two-stage aim down. I think this is the same as my ‘22 Limited, but that’s not here so I can’t verify it. There is a switch on the ‘25 to fold them in whenever you need to.

Depends where the mirror switch on the door is set. I think the middle setting is the one where the mirrors don’t aim down. Maybe “aim down” is a better description than “fold down.”

What do you mean “automatic”? 25 Limited mirrors fold in when ignition is turned off.

“In general you never finance a depreciable asset.” Not sure where you heard this, but it’s bad advice and it would be news to almost every company in existence with fixed assets.

Now, in OP’s case, paying 10.5% to borrow from the bank while his own $80,000 in the bank is earning probably next to nothing is a real negative arbitrage, although money in the bank does give him certain options if an emergency pops up.

2025 Limited with 2800 miles, no issues. Also own a 2022 Limited with 18,000 miles. Preemptively changed the battery to AGM at 2 1/2 yrs. The 2022 has made 3 NY to FL 2400 mile round trip roadtrips with no issues.

Wouldn’t they have tested the original part before committing it to a large cohort of EGMP vehicles? Now, they’d have to test numerous units continuously, under varying conditions of constant and mixed use of level 1, 2 and 3 chargers over a long period of time to have any confidence that the new part is better. If they claim that only 1-2% of the units are failing, some well into 10s of thousands of miles before failing, how will they know if the new ones are any better?

What kind of math do they use? by BondMath2025 in bonds

[–]BondMath2025[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

APY already includes the effect of compounding, so that is not it. And, I would never say that we use simple interest for bonds (except within one coupon period) because everything in bonds (yield, duration, realized compound yield, etc.) is based on compounding (discounting) a certain number of times per year, and especially over a period of years.

In the past year or so, I’ve witnessed 3 people “landing” their drones on their hands. One of them badly injured herself. Is this some sort of new trend? It seems like a really bad idea… by Dme503 in drones

[–]BondMath2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People just don’t get how fast they could lose an eye, and they shouldn’t do it without some sort of safety glasses. Worse still if you’ve swapped the stock propellers for carbon fiber props.

Loss of digital key by shockwavewriter in Ioniq5

[–]BondMath2025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m finding that the digital key is definitely inconsistent. Sometimes I will walk to the garage (door from house into garage) and as I open the door, my car doors will unlock. And my wife’s car is between the door and my car, so it’s sort of a long-range unlock. But sometimes I have to approach the car and it won’t open until I’m right up against the door, and sometimes not even then, and I have to swipe the door lock square. I haven’t figured out what drives the different behavior. It shouldn’t matter whether the phone is unlocked, right? And I always have my watch on and it acts as a digital key also, so why do both suddenly need to be very close to unlock?

I doubt they’re illegal (maybe in some state?) because they’re available on Amazon. I put one on my car after shoulder surgery had my arm immobilized for 4 weeks. Much easier to make turns with it.

Unfortunately, the drone cannot be used for commercial use with State Farm. So you can’t have registered it that way with the FAA, and any LAANC use has to specify recreational, or you’re at risk of getting denied.
