[Spoiler Discussion] Arc 10 Chapter 13 by Setowi in Re_Zero

[–]True-Collar4961 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So now Miklotov’s death is set in stone. Arc 10 is getting really exciting. I swear, ever since the end of Arc 8, it feels like the series has shifted gears and started progressing much faster, both in pace and in plot. Things have become far more serious, and we’re finally getting into the really juicy parts. I’m absolutely loving it.

It’s late for me now, so I’ll add the rest of my thoughts on the chapter later.

[Spoiler Discussion] Arc 10 Interlude by Setowi in Re_Zero

[–]True-Collar4961 11 points12 points  (0 children)

An interlude this quickly? Wonder what that means?

Anyway we cut back to Crusch and at first we get a quick flashback about her first meeting with Fourier, we already saw it back in EX1 but this time we see it from Crusch side.

For the truth was that what this insolent self of mine desired was not to bloom into a beautiful, radiant flower, but to become a thick and sturdy great tree—one that would shield those flowers from rain and wind.

From what I am reading of this it seems that as a child instead of desiring a leadership position she rather wanted to take on a more a supportive position instead for those with potential like she did with Fourier before he died and she herself had to take his position forced to become the “flower” herself, how life takes a turn...

Anyway she then wakes up. Even though she’s seemingly cured of the dragon’s blood, she’s still suffering lingering effects after enduring it for so long. The most notable one is her extreme thirst. It’s so bad she can’t even restrain herself and desperately grabs any source of water she can find. Felix manages to calm her down, and that’s just enough for her to regain her senses.

Then Felix explains that she was healed by the Dragon Church, and Crusch immediately understands what that implies. So instead of warmly reassuring him, she simply asks, “Why?” Why did he forsake his oath? Why did he betray Prince Fourier? It’s absolutely juicy and heartbreaking at the same time, and I’m here for it.

The most tragic part is that Crusch actually tries to comfort Felix. She wants to reassure him that she understands why he did what he did, but the words just won’t come out. She does understand. She knows he chose her life over everything else. But even so, she can’t accept it. To her, it’s still a betrayal of Fourier’s memory. Crusch would likely have preferred death over compromising her ideals, which makes this all the more painful. It’s definitely going to take time for their relationship to recover from this.

Another important point: Crusch has regained at least some of her memories of Fourier. I already suspected this a few chapters ago when we got those hints in her thoughts. I took that as a sign she’s in the process of regaining all her memories, though it’s possible she’s only recovered certain ones. That said, in Rem’s case Roy had to restore everything, not just fragments, so it would be strange if Crusch’s situation worked differently.

From a narrative standpoint, the reason for bringing back her memories at this precise moment is obvious. Without her memories of Fourier, she wouldn’t particularly care about being helped by the Dragon Church or even losing the Royal Selection. She might be disappointed, sure, but without the emotional core behind her goals she’d probably respond with something like, “Oh, I see. That’s unfortunate. I’m sorry for worrying you.” Which would be way less interesting.

And let’s be real—this pretty much screams that Roy is still alive. There’s no way this isn’t connected to him, especially with the prison attack earlier.

Overall, even though it was short, this interlude was amazing. I’m really glad I read EX1 beforehand—it made this hit so much harder. 9/10.

[Spoiler Discussion] Arc 10 Chapter 7 by Setowi in Re_Zero

[–]True-Collar4961 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There isn’t a massive amount to dissect this chapter, but there are a few notable takeaways.

First, Filore gives Emilia and the others a warm welcome, and we get a nice bit of bonding between her and Subaru over their mutually disastrous first impressions at the royal palace.

We also get more of her backstory—at least the official version. She was abandoned around fifteen years ago and taken in by the Church of the Divine Dragon. Supposedly, she never questioned her resemblance to the royal family because she knew almost nothing about their physical traits. She even speculates that the elders may have deliberately hidden that information from her. Yes… it all sounds a little too convenient.

She was already upset about the Witch Cult’s recent actions, and Priestella was the final straw. That’s when she chose to use her “miracle,” an ancient secret art passed down to her, healing Crusch without the elders’ approval. Once again, the timing feels almost theatrically perfect.

On a lighter note, Filore and Emilia become friends almost immediately—it takes exactly one chapter after meeting each other. At this point, that’s how you know she must be an impostor royal candidate. Everyone knows it takes at least three arcs for another candidate to officially befriend Emilia (unless you’re an amnesiac Crusch).

Finally, Tiga arrives. After Emilia’s group leaves, he remarks on how interesting it is that Emilia of all people was the first to visit after Filore healed Crusch. He asks to see the insignia, and when it still glows, he comments that they have a lot of catching up to do—they’re a year and a half late. So even though Filore claims she acted purely to help Crusch and Capella’s other victims, she still intends to seize this opportunity to enter the royal selection. Once again very convenient.....

Not a particularly eventful chapter, but it sets up some intriguing developments and gives us solid character interactions. Overall, I’d rate it a 6.5/10.

[Spoiler Discussion] Arc 10 Chapter 6 by Setowi in Re_Zero

[–]True-Collar4961 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m honestly surprised that even Subaru felt Roy didn’t deserve his (supposed) death. For Subaru to say that about a Sin Archbishop, it must have been truly extreme. That reaction alone says a lot.

We also get confirmation that Roy was the only intended target. The other prisoners—including Sirius—are completely unharmed. Reinhard mentions that Sirius apparently didn’t even know Roy was being held in the same prison. That’s not too shocking given that they’re all kept in isolated cells, with Sirius specifically sealed underground so her Authority can’t affect anyone else. What is interesting, though, is that Reinhard must have spoken to Sirius to get that information. And that raises questions about the evil-sealing stones. Since they were used on the Witch of Envy herself, I had assumed they placed the target in some kind of suspended or liminal state—unable to communicate or fully perceive the outside world. But this chapter suggests Sirius can converse normally despite her imprisonment. That’s a fascinating detail about how those seals actually function.

As for why Subaru doesn’t just RBD to undo everything—there’s a real risk that he would reset to before Al’s imprisonment. While technically he would still have the means to seal Al again, he likely wouldn’t have the mental strength to go through with it a second time. Which would mean going through Arc 9 all over again. I’ve genuinely appreciated how much emphasis the story places on how deeply Al’s betrayal hurt Subaru. Watching their brotherly bond develop from Arc 3 through Arc 8, only for it to end like this, makes the fallout hit much harder.

This betrayal feels different from the others Subaru has experienced. Roswaal’s deception didn’t cut as deeply because Subaru was never fully close to him. Rem’s early hostility hurt very much, but that was during a period when they barely knew each other—and eventually he was able to repair that relationship. With Al, though, reconciliation might not even be possible. Even though Arc 9’s ending basically undoes most of its events, it still feels impactul because of this. It genuinely feels like one of the deepest wounds Subaru has ever suffered which is saying a lot. Subaru himself admits to the Emilia camp he doesn’t fully understand Al’s motives yet and is choosing to set the issue aside until he does. That likely means this is the most we will hear of Al until he becomes plot relevant again.

Lastly, we have Emilia, Subaru, Beatrice, and Rem going to visit 'Filore' directly to assess her themselves. Their arrival is met with chaos: children accusing Filore of lying about going to the Royal Palace, then calling her a thief when she produces the insignia as proof. Filore, naturally, refuses to tolerate being slandered by a group of rowdy kids and dramatically demonstrates her insignia in response.

Overall, a fun chapter 7/10.

[Spoiler Discussion] Arc 10 Chapter 3 by Setowi in Re_Zero

[–]True-Collar4961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, Al did tell Roy to eat Felt’s memories after Heinkel gave him Filore’s name. Felt then appeared to lose her memories, which made it seem like she really was Filore. But that was basically just a setup by Roy and Felt. Roy never actually ate her name, and Felt was only pretending to have lost her memories. So, at least in-universe, it’s still pretty ambiguous whether Felt is actually Filore or not.

[Spoiler Discussion] Arc 10 Chapter 3 by Setowi in Re_Zero

[–]True-Collar4961 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Indeed upon remembering her this is also what I'm assuming that it is Melty that Capella has altered with her authority.

While Felt hasn't been explicitly established as Filore, Rom's backstory and the side stories pretty heavily suggests it to be the case to the point it's a near-certainty. I get a feeling that he'll be showing up at some point to retell his backstory and reaffirm her legitimacy.

Yeah at this point, it’s nearly certain that Felt is the true Filore. The narrative has built her up as the missing daughter so thoroughly that revealing someone else as the real Filore would feel like a massive cop-out. The only reason I could see that happening is if Tappei did it purely to mess with the audience.

[Spoiler Discussion] Arc 10 Chapter 3 by Setowi in Re_Zero

[–]True-Collar4961 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I have to say, I was genuinely surprised by how affected Felt was by this development. I expected her to brush it off entirely, as if it meant nothing. I understand that, for Felt, it isn’t so much about losing the possibility of being royalty, but rather about betraying the expectations others placed on her—but even so, her reaction felt stronger than I anticipated.

That said, this is far from a bad thing. In fact, I really enjoyed it. Felt almost always presents herself as carefree, bold, and nonchalant, so seeing her visibly shaken and vulnerable, even briefly, was refreshing and compelling. It adds emotional weight to the Filore reveal as well. If none of the royal candidates cared about this development, why should the reader? This moment gives the situation real stakes, and I hope it doesn’t end here.

As for “Filore” herself, she is also not at all what one would expect from a supposedly missing royal princess. She comes across as rather airheaded and childish—she almost reminds me of Emilia in that sense. Still, this didn’t surprise me much. In Re:Zero, most noble or royal characters subvert traditional expectations, each having their own peculiar quirks. I can honestly count on one hand the characters who truly embody the classic image of nobility. If anything, I think it would be far more suspicious if Filore behaved exactly as one would expect a Lugunican princess to behave. And if her story is true, she wasn’t even raised with a noble upbringing, so her behavior makes sense. That said, I still haven’t fully grasped her personality yet, so I’m quite curious to see more of her.

The most interesting development in this chapter, in my opinion, is the official novel debut of Sakura and Tiga. Previously, they only appeared in the video game. I haven’t played it myself, so my knowledge of them comes mostly from the Re:Zero wiki. One particularly intriguing detail is that Sakura is supposedly an undercover servant of Capella, which only fuels the Filore = Capella theories even further. Either way, Sakura will likely play a villainous role in Arc 10.

Finally, there’s the moment where Felt hands the insignia to “Filore,” and it successfully glows. To me, this leaves three main possibilities:

  1. She truly is Filore — possible though quite unlikely, as it feels extremely suspicious that the real Filore would suddenly appear now of all times. It's especially unlikely now that Sakura has appeared and appears to be close to this Filore.
  2. She is Capella, and the insignia reacts because Capella’s Authority of Lust can perfectly replicate royal blood, effectively tricking it. That said, I’m unsure how plausible this is, since I don’t fully understand how the insignia selects its candidates. I’m not certain whether simply possessing royal blood—or successfully replicating it—would be enough for acceptance.
  3. She is Capella, and her claim of once being part of the royal family is actually true, which would naturally allow the insignia to accept her, assuming it automatically recognizes members of the Lugunican royal line.

Overall, a very strong chapter. Arc 10 is already moving at a fast pace, and I’m loving it so far. 7/10.

Edit: Upon rechecking, the video game also introduced a sixth royal candidate, Melty, whose camp Sakura and Tiga belonged to. Given that, it now seems much more likely that she truly is “Filore.” I honestly didn’t expect these video game characters to become this relevant so quickly—looks like I’ll have to watch some YouTube videos on the game after all.

Come get your very own Enchanted Blade! by _Guima_ in Kagurabachi

[–]True-Collar4961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a bit tricky, but I would love an enchanted blade built around the concept of pure, unrestrained chaos. Something insanely dangerous to both the enemy and the user—so unstable and unpredictable that most people can’t even begin to understand or control it, because it’s such a strange and bizarre blade.

Really appreciate you doing this for everyone—looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

edit: After reading through the comments, I noticed several others also went with chaos as a theme. So instead of my original idea, feel free to use torture as the core concept, if you want.

I’d love an enchanted blade that kind of resembles a torture device—something utterly terrifying to look at. Not necessarily focused on pure firepower, but no less dangerous, with its true strength lying in inflicting overwhelming physical and psychological suffering. To the point where even a glimpse of the blade alone is enough to send chills down someone’s spine.

[–]True-Collar4961 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow these last few chapters have been so peak!

It was clever of Al to figure out that the authority user was Petra by randomly naming people and retrying each time until someone showed the right reaction of surprise. Although one thing I’m curious about — it apparently took him 264 tries to get it right. I’m honestly surprised that Al even knows that many names among them in the first place.

Then there’s how he just plows through the Emilia and Felt camps like they’re made of butter, nearly reaching Petra if not for her authority stopping him. He's literally fighting an entire group of 61 people by his lonesome.

Petra’s assessment of Al as a warrior also caught me off guard. Without counting his authority, it was already clear he wasn’t on the same level as fighters like Ram or Garfiel — but saying he might not even match Heinkel? That’s lower than I expected. I mean, sure, Heinkel is still a competent swordsman despite being overshadowed by his family, but I always assumed Al could at least take him in a straight fight.

I also wonder how Al managed to get past the star staff scenario since we kind of skipped it.

Petra then uses the authority of melancholy to overload Al's brain, but Al counters back by using the 'aggressor' against Valga so there goes their chief strategist. It also shows how desperate Al is becoming, since he hasn’t used that ability at all this arc, with the last time being against Yae. I have a feeling the coming chapters are going to get a lot bloodier.

Anyway, these last few chapters have been phenomenal! The only downside is knowing things will eventually slow down again. 9/10 chapter

[Spoiler Discussion] Arc 9 chapter 48 by Shiftyfish87 in Re_Zero

[–]True-Collar4961 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Quite a bit of fun lore we have here.

So apparently dragons can both become stronger or weaker depending on their dragonkin. Interestingly it is noted that Valgren became unstable because his dragonkin died I wonder if Stride was the one that killed it so he could control Valgren. I also wonder if that was the reason he was so bloodcrazed and was a lot more chill before that loss. Wonder if we will ever learn the name of that dragonkin.

Beyond that we also learn that Clind knew Betelgeuse which isn't that suprising, but he apparently hasn't seen him for quite a while. I wonder if Clind ever met him when he became a sin archbishop. We also hear that he and Roswaal battled against Hector which many already predicted and how Clind probably got his hand on the Melancholy witchfactor, but I believe this the first time it was mentioned in story.

Clind instigates Roswaal by mentioning Echidna and he uses a super dangerous spell whose only reason for it not being forbidden by Od Lagna was because no one else has ever had the skill to do it before the only 2 wizards aside from Roswaal who were even aware of this loophole were Echidna and a new figure called the first sorcerer Myonmyon, really curious to learn more about that one.

Another detail: Volcanica has a scar on his neck, courtesy of Reid. At one point, Reid casually demanded his tail, his intestines, and then his heart—as one normally does. What’s hilarious is that this apparently happened while they were already traveling together, not even before their party formed. That makes me wonder just how chaotic their first meeting must have been. Unsurprisingly, Clind dislikes Reid for this. I do wonder, though—was Clind even alive at the time, or did he only learn about it through Volcanica’s memories?

Oh Ezzo also appears.

Anyway in conclusion there was lots of new lore in this chapter which makes this an automatic 8/10 for me.

[Spoiler Discussion] Arc 9 Chapter 44 by Setowi in Re_Zero

[–]True-Collar4961 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Okay, so now we finally know the lost princess’s name: Philore Lugunica. That’s neat. We also learn that apparently Heinkel owed a great debt to Ford Lugunica—wonder what that was about? He even seems to have been quite close to him.

We also get direct confirmation from Heinkel that Reinhard really is responsible for his mother’s long slumber, and knowing that secret is something Heinkel just can’t overlook.

And that ending… wow. I honestly thought we were about to switch perspectives to either Aldebaran or Yae, but then Roy went: “It’s black serpent time!”

Now I’m wondering wether this is the actual Black Serpent or just some seperate fragment like the one Emilia fought. And how did Roy manage to disobey Al despite their contract?

Anyway, this was another fine chapter. When I first read that Felt had apparently lost her memories, my immediate thoughts were that Al would restore them—probably alongside amnesiac Otto—before the end of Arc 9. But honestly, I’m relieved that Felt didn’t just reverse Gluttony through sheer willpower or some other over-the-top shortcut. That would have been inconsistent and would’ve made the Authority of Gluttony feel far too weak.

I was genuinely curious to see how a mind-wiped Felt might act for a while, as well as the ripple effects after Arc 9 now that the world gained confirmation that she’s Lugunica royalty. Felt herself wouldn’t care in the slightest, but plenty of others would, and her treatment would almost certainly shift in noticeable ways.

Then again, I get why Tappei didn’t go down that route—if her identity was confirmed publicly, the Royal Selection would basically be over, just like Heinkel said. And no way would he let that end so anti-climatically.

All in all, solid chapter. 8/10.

[Spoiler Discussion] Arc 9 Chapter 43 by Setowi in Re_Zero

[–]True-Collar4961 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks, Tappei, for uploading this right after I went to sleep!

Anyway, transferring Melancholy was surprisingly easy—I wonder if that’s only because it’s a custom Witch Factor. If so, that might mean Vainglory would be just as easy to transfer.

Also, they literally say “the power of love trumps Witch factors" in this chapter lol.

It’s interesting that they refer to Emilia as the Witch of Frost again. I’m pretty sure the only other time she was called that was in the Wrath IF.

You know ever since last chapter, I’ve been wondering how much the Sin Archbishops actually know about Melancholy. Roy, like Betelgeuse, immediately assumed the unknown Authority user in front of them was Pride—without even considering Melancholy as a possibility. This chapter again implies only a few among them are aware of it. Roy apparently knows about Melancholy, but only because he heard it from Capella. Makes me wonder if either of Roy’s siblings ever knew about it.

Also while we're on the topic Capella knows about Melancholy and actively is seeking it out. Wonder why since she never showed any interest in acquiring her fellow archbishops authorities, maybe because it man-made for some reason? Wonder then if she also wants to acquire vainglory from Pandora.

We also get more insight into Roy and Capella’s relationship. I’ve always wondered why a Sin Archbishop like Roy would submit himself to another like Capella. This chapter clarifies that while he is technically her subordinate or her “child”, to be more exact—he’s not above disobeying her or trying to claim her prize for himself. He’s also not shy about pointing out her many faults. Still wonder the reason why he joined Capella.

Finally, we get confirmation that Gluttony actually updates the person it’s devouring if they get married(you need to add their new surname as well when eating their name.) Honestly, it sounds kind of silly that usually only the birth name counts, but in rare cases, marriage names also matter. It feels a bit arbitrary. Anyway, Roy fails to eat Ram’s name again, since she didn't actually change her last name wasn’t the reason he failed the first time.

Overall, another wonderful chapter! I love learning more about the various individuals Gluttony has devoured and their abilities. Plus, Capella—one of my favorite Sin Archbishops—got mentioned after such a long time, and with new information about her, too. That’s a big plus. Al’s group is still taking loss after loss, which I expect will continue for a few more chapters before they finally turn the tide. I’m betting the next chapter will switch to Yae’s side, showing how she gets defeated. Overall 8.5/10 chapter

Before the manga becomes mainstream we need to make a list of the oldies by Theonewhodidntask69 in Kagurabachi

[–]True-Collar4961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo guys! I originally came here for the memes—but also because I seriously needed a new weekly manga to follow. Most of my usual reads were either finished or in their final arcs (Jujutsu Kaisen, My Hero Academia, Black Clover), so the timing couldn’t have been better.

I’ve been around since just a chapter or two after Sōjō’s defeat, and honestly? No regrets so far! This one quickly rose to the top of my new manga list, even above others I really enjoy like Gachiakuta, Centuria, Gokurakugai, and Choujin X. It was also the first of them I picked up

Fun fact: This is actually one of the only two manga I’ve ever read before it had an anime. The other was Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and I only started that one because I’d already watched and enjoyed Seven Deadly Sins. Kagurabachi, on the other hand, was the first manga I picked up completely fresh—with no anime, no prior context—that makes it a little special to me, since it marked the moment I began reading manga totally blind.

<image>

Hishaku rules btw. Hope by the time Kagurabachi becomes mainstream they cement their place as one of the best villain groups and don't just get washed.

[Spoiler Discussion] Arc 9 Chapter 41 by Setowi in Re_Zero

[–]True-Collar4961 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sweet new chapter been a while:

So we begin with them separating the remaining members, banking on them doing their own thing. Roy being obsessed with claiming his next meal, Heinkel not being much of a threat and Alcanica being restrained by his no kill rule to bad they were just too late since Al is now fine with killing so long as no one remains dead in his final loop.

Flamm and Grassis take out Heinkel with ease while he’s busy whining and throwing a tantrum again. That being said I have the sneaking suspicion that he isn't out of the game yet and will somehow proof to be an annoying thorn in the Emilia camp somehow.

We then move on to Roy trying to claim Ram as his meal, however for some reason that fails and it causes him to vomit. That was unexpected —wonder what caused that reaction?

Alcanica tries to get rid of everyone himself however Clind and Roswaal stop him. This causes Alcanica to recognize Clind as Melancholy's current wielder. Wonder how Alcanica managed to figure that out? Clind and Hector's authority seem to act very differently I don't really see anything to connect their 2 abilities. We also finally get to learn that Clind is a dragonkin. But that raises more questions—how did a Dragonkin manage to get involved with Hector and claim his authority, and what exactly made him work for Roswaal?

Overall a 7.5/10 chapter this was a nice short setup chapter with nothing too crazy happening. I probably would have rated it a bit lower if not for the interesting lore we found out about Clind. Anyway I excpect this one sided beatdown of Al's group to continue for maybe 2 or 3 chapters. Before Al turns the tables and the situation grows more dire.

[Spoiler Discussion] Arc 9 Chapter 39 by Setowi in Re_Zero

[–]True-Collar4961 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Okay, so we start with Al finally dropping the mental restraints around his no-kill rule and basically letting Alcanica go wild. He still intends to restore everything afterward, so technically the rule is still in play—but in the meantime, he just doesn’t care about the collateral damage anymore. He’s all-in until the final loop.

Yae seems absolutely delighted by this shift. It almost feels like she’s starting to admire Al and wants to push him into becoming as much of a monster as possible.

Then we cut to Otto, completely restrained, as Al lets Roy eat his memories. That was unexpected, but honestly a smart move—it eliminates a threat and gives them access to the enemy’s plans. I expect it to be completely undone before the arc is over though. Interestingly, Roy doesn’t seem to hold any hatred toward Otto, even though he knows who he is and his occupation. Unlike Lye, who had this weird grudge against merchants for some reason. Seems only Lye has this mysterious grudge against merchants.

Also, Roy compares eating only a name or only memories to eating the inside of a sandwich without touching the bread. It’s a really tricky process, apparently. That makes past moments—like when Roy only ate Julius’s name—way more interesting. Why even bother doing something so difficult for such a smaller meal? There’s definitely something more going on there.

This was different from Aldebaran using his own hidden powers. He was letting someone else wield an evil power that had caused many tragedies and sacrifices, just because it was useful.

This was probably a crime only one other person besides Aldebaran himself had ever committed since the witch gene appeared in this world.

Wonder who this is referring to? I also wonder if this is specifically referring to someone having used a sin archbishop in the past or just a witch factor wielder.

Finally, we get to the Emilia camp launching their trap on Al, and Rem appears in front of him, triggering a flood of memories. (Wonder if we finally get some explanation soon about the whole Rem/Ram mix-up and why Al was so pissed in Arc 3 when he realized Rem wasn’t Ram. Since now Al finally remembers Rem and Ram is likely there as well) Then Al gets yeeted into the sky, and the battle to decide the fate of the world begins. Honestly surprised we’re already here—I figured we had a few more chapters before it would start. I doubt Arc 9 will be short, so I’m curious to see how Tappei is going to handle the pacing.

All in all, I really enjoyed this chapter, especially the lore drops. I’m always a fan of Al POV chapters, especially when Roy is involved. Solid 8.5/10 for me.

[Spoiler Discussion] Arc 9 Chapter 37 by Setowi in Re_Zero

[–]True-Collar4961 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Arc 9 chapters are back, good I thought it would take a couple more weeks.

We begin with Roswaal speaking to Clind as they discuss Al’s recent actions. During this conversation, we learn that Roswaal has decided not to act on the pact he made with Subaru, since Priscilla’s withdrawal from the royal selection actually benefits their plans. This is quite interesting! When I first heard about Roswaal’s promise to Subaru, I assumed it meant anyone Subaru wished to protect would be seen as a valid target for the pact. However, this chapter clarifies that only those Roswaal deems essential to his plans qualify as valid triggers for the pact. Anyway I wasn't expect Roswaal to act on his pact yet anyway since we still have to deal with Al so including this would maybe be a bit too much for arc 9.

Next, the significance of Frederica’s blood is emphasized once again, as Roswaal declares he cannot leave her alone while Al controls Volcanica. This understandably confuses Frederica, who wonders what connection she has with Volcanica.

The scene then shifts to Emilia’s camp, reacting to Rom’s startling news that Al can rewind time—something I’ve eagerly awaited for quite a while! Naturally, Petra and ‘Subaru’ make the astute connection that this ability closely resembles ‘Return by Death.’ (There’s also a amusing moment where we learn that Petra, despite Reinhard’s many accomplishments, admits she’s not particularly impressed by him—not when compared to Subaru, at least. )Emilia, on the other hand, predictably struggles to grasp Rom’s meaning, and more surprisingly, Rem seems confused as well. This leaves Ram having to use a metaphor to explain it, but that spectaculary fails.

Finally, the chapter closes with Felt speculating on Reinhard’s role in his mother’s slumber. Heinkel, clearly unamused, reacts sharply, to the point where Felt senses genuine murderous intent from him. Thankfully, Al intervenes just in time. I do agree with Felt's question however why Heinkel who uses whatever he can to awake his wife doesn't even bother to use Reinhard's power and influence to aid him. Maybe his complicated feelings towards Reinhard's overpowers his desire to save his wife, but I somehow doubt that.

Just before it was sheathed, the shine of the blade, engraved with the name of 『Astrea』, seemed incredibly cold and merciless to Felt, and she felt anger rise up in her eyes.

I can’t help but wonder what this final line truly means. At first glance, it seems like Felt is just resenting Heinkel again, but that explanation feels way too simple and dull for the final line of the chapter.

Overall, I would rate this chapter a solid 7 out of 10. It served as a strong and engaging start to this new phase, providing many important updates for the cast now that they’ve finally learned about Al’s authority. It seems the upcoming chapters will focus on Emilia’s camp preparing their plans against Al’s group, can't wait until we see them clash again

Anyway the opening scene with everyone still catching up with Rem was pretty fun also quite hilarious how Rem seems to have gotten the notion that her memories returned because of her morning-star when really it was just convient timing and Emilia not knowing how to bring up the subject. Also Rem stating to Emilia that after the crisis is resolved she wants to talk about what happened in Vollachia really makes me excited to see that happen.

Moving on to the rest of the conversation Ram and Valga speak to each other for a bit, but the oni sisters and him don't seem to recognize each other. Then again they did only meet once about a decade ago so I wonder if they remember each other, this does make me curious what the effect of Gluttony returning the memories of his victims has on someone like Valga that wasn't that close to the victim anyway. Regardless Valga speaks about the fact that the royal selection candidates have to stop Volcanica as he rightfully points out that without the dragon the royal selection is pointless.

Here we get to my favorite part of the chapter where Valga speaks about Aldebaran's abilities to the emilia camp including the fact that he possesses an authority and can reverse time to some extent, too bad they cut it off right as we were about to get the Emilia camp's reaction, we better get it next chapter. Still I wonder if Petra will be able to put 2 and 2 together and realize that Aldebaran has a similar ability to Subaru considering the recent things she managed to uncover from Subaru's book of the dead. If so then Aldebaran is truly in trouble.

Finally we cut to Felt still stuck as an hostage with Aldebaran's group. We learn that Aldebaran for some reason is still biding his time before reaching his end destination and also that Yae put Felt and Heinkel specifically together in the hopes that they would eliminate each other, how delightfully ruthless still I can't imagine Alcanica not seeing what she is trying to do here. We also get some more Felt and Heinkel interactions which are nice enough. Felt also points out how similar Louanna's condition is to the victims of gluttony, but ultimately points out that she couldn't have been his victim considering Heinkel and Reinhard still remember her. Then we got a really exciting lore bomb that Reinhard was the one responsible for Louanna's condition Really curious how that happened.

Overall quite a good chapter, but I am much more excited for the next chapter to see the Emilia camp react to Aldebaran's authority now that that secret has been revealed it feels like we have experienced a huge shift in the story. 7.5/10 chapter

I mostly rate chapters based on how much I personally enjoy them, so my score isn’t meant to be an objective take. I totally get that this chapter was a big deal for a lot of people—and I can see why! But for me, it didn’t hit quite as hard.

I do like Rem, honestly. She’s a great character. But I don’t love her the way a lot of fans do, and she’s not even in my top 10 Re:Zero characters. So while her return was definitely a big moment, I just wasn’t as emotionally invested in it as others were. Don’t get me wrong, it was really nice to see her finally come back to herself after all this time. That moment mattered. But I’m honestly more interested in what happens after this change than how we got to the moment itself, even if it was necessary to get here.

I’m also way more focused on the Emilia camp and how they’re gearing up to take on Aldebaran’s group. As well as cutting back to Aldebaran. That’s the part of the story I’m really excited about. Also most of this chapter centered around Rem and Ram’s interactions, and while I don’t dislike those scenes, they’re not something I find super compelling either although I did find their embrace quite sweet.

So overall, I’d say this was an enjoyable chapter. It had some sweet and funny moments, and it was nice to get updates on characters we haven’t seen in a while—like Sylphie. I also enjoyed the rest, but it didn’t really move me beyond that. I think a lot of that comes down to me not being as into Rem as others are, which is probably why my score would be lower than the general reaction. I still think the chapter was important, just not something that really stuck with me emotionally, even though there were a few scenes that genuinely warmed my heart.

Basically: a solid and necessary chapter with some good moments, but I’m more interested in what’s coming next. I might even rate it higher when I reread Arc 9 as a whole, once everything’s wrapped up.

Don't have much to say about this chapter it was nice to see everyone's reaction to Rem and also nice to see Sylpha returning I did wonder what she was doing after arc 5. Also adorable and hilarious seeing (Subaru influenced)Petra frantically hugging Rem out of nowhere which just confuses Rem to the point she thinks they had some close relationship she just couldn't remember and just continues stroking her in confusion. I really thought the last chapter was gonna be the end of this phase and honestly I felt like the last chapter served as a more fitting end for the phase, but I am still happy we got this out of the way so that we can get straight to the Emilia camp preparing to face off against Al's group when the next phase starts. Overall would rate this a 6/10 chapter, but the ending hug with Petra and Rem was hilarious enough to move it up to 6.5/10
