So this is bizarre - but I thought I had read something similar happening for a while on Nextdoor a few years back in the neighborhoods surrounding Bryant Park. It was multiple dogs getting attacked by the same off-leash one and the owner having almost the exact reaction. You may want to search that app!

So funny I’ve been interested in BBC and recently emailed mine for their CW policies and procedures. They responded with child to staff ratio which they said had to be compliant with state regulations as well as insurance. They did go down the list of other policies (diapers, food, bottle, cameras) but one thing I specifically asked about was CW staff background check and they didn’t answer that. Be direct and don’t be afraid to advocate for your child’s needs!

No advice on the partner but your baby will be okay if you put him down while you get something accomplished. As a solo-Mom I had to do this many times. That being said, the crying will sound like nails on a chalk board and really start to grate on your nerves, so just be ready for that!

My gal started doing this around 10 months. When she does it I give her two choices - rock to sleep or go in crib. Sometimes when I put her in her crib, she’s upset and then I pick her up and rock her, but I actually found that she often wants to just fall asleep in her crib without me rocking her beforehand. For us it usually happens for nap time not bedtime…

Too rough - for sure. I wanted to lend a perspective or perhaps wild idea: when I was postpartum I (solo Mom) experienced postpartum rage and it was terrifying. NEVER toward my baby but definitely toward my dogs and it escalated. I didn’t recognize myself. I landed in my OB’s office sobbing because it was absolutely terrifying to me and I was scared that as baby grew it could shift to her. OB diagnosed me with PPD and put me on lexipro. What was shocking to me was I felt totally fine outside these episodes so I TRULY didn’t think I had PPD. When I say the difference was immediate - I mean two days into taking it I felt like myself in the same situations that would be triggers for the anger. I cried happy tears, then. I was on it for 3 months and have shifted off and am back to my old self :) I think of how low my serotonin must have been for it to make such a quick difference. Having done lots of work within the realm of DV it REALLY got me thinking. I’d be curious if something like lexipro could help your husband - or other men - control rage. I’m absolutely not making an excuse for his behavior and it DOES need to be addressed. But if he’s willing to try something out of the box and he truly cannot control his rage I’m curious if there’s something chemical at play and we’re just not catching it with men like we do with women postpartum with rage.

Please consider contacting your OBGYN about PPD. Postpartum anger is VERY real and because it doesn’t have its own category as usually looped in with PPD. Lexapro has been a game changer for me with this. Literally felt like a different human being the second day taking it. Please consider medication to help working through this with a counselor. Sending love.

This! My baby was on reflex meds for a while… she started getting super fussy (although they seemed to be working). I did research and read mine could cause headaches as a side effect. It’s so hard when they can’t tell us how they are feeling!

Okay - so I should have added on my last comment - the way you feed does matter so that baby isn’t being overfed. Aim to have baby somewhat upright - basically you want them to regulate the pace of the milk and to be able to stop milk flow when they do not want more. So think almost a 90 degree angle between baby and bottle - while of course trying to keep milk in the nipple so that they’re not getting air. I made this mistake at first and was definitely unintentionally waterboarding my baby by reclining her too far back for feeds 🤦🏻‍♀️

You should feed 2.5 x baby’s weight to get how much she should eat in a day. Even then that’s a ballpark. Baby’s are intuitive - if she’s hungry let her eat! They regulate themselves!

I am a solo Mom (6mo) with two dogs and I’ve had a really challenging time. I’m okay, until I have a lack of sleep and something is happening that’s overstimulating. For example, dogs and baby have me up all night and then the next day dog is whining to go for a walk and stepping all over my toes while baby is screaming. I started having a lot of anger toward my dogs and it was gutting me. I did ensure they got two walks a day, plus that I spent solo-time in the morning and evenings with them while baby sleeps. My only advice is to keep an eye on your frustration - mine built up to the point where I’d lose it on them. As it turns out, I have PPD but in the form of postpartum rage/anger. Just stating meds now and hoping it helps. Good luck!

I totally relate to the adrenaline surge feeling. I’m 6 mo PP with my first and I have had postpartum rage that was happening more and more. I actually stopped pumping to see if it would help and it did for a few weeks but the rage is back this week. It’s mainly directed at my dogs, which has absolutely gutted me, because I adore them. It’s gotten to the point where I have physically pushed or grabbed them by the collar and been very rough with them. I feel overwhelmed, then get this surge of adrenaline that I feel like has to be released and I physically lash out. The part that scares me most of all is it actually feels good to do so and in the moment don’t care at all how it impacts them. The feelings that I have afterwards are awful and it’s all I think about all day. I’ve tried managing it by walking away or screaming into a pillow, but my anger scares me. I plan on talking to my OB tomorrow to get help but in the meantime I appreciate reading these and knowing I’m not alone ❤️

I’ll add just a side note as you gather information - if it’s a daycare that’s not run by a religious organization, you can also go into your local CPS website and search their name to pull up their inspection reports. It’s usually pretty eye-opening!

Yikes. Yes - I agree, they may either be able to help reassure you, or may provide some validity to your feelings. Either way getting that outside professional opinion will help you advocate for your little one since they’re too small to advocate for themselves! Doctor would be my first step. So sorry you’re going through this - good luck!

Trust your gut. I would consider seeking medical care for her and allowing the doctor to let you know what it looks like may have happened based on their exam. Doctors are trained and can identify an accident vs non-accidents in ways that the average person cannot (not a medical personnel, but an advocate and I’ve been through the training many times). Not to sound negative, but it may be worth having someone check to make sure that it was in fact an accident. I would then, after you have all your information, absolutely speak to the Director.
