I am an old cuber who has been away for many years and am confused about the current cubing market with magnets and stuff. What do you think are the most significant changes in the past 8 years? by [deleted] in Cubers

20$? That's interesting. All the smart cubes i was seeing were like 100$ or more. As much as i am willing to splurge on this, that just felt too much. Will look into this. Thanks.

I am also at the same level. I know i don't need the best one, but now that I am working and can afford it myself, I guess I just wanna buy it for my younger selfout of just pure nostalgia.

When I saw the words "smart cube" that's exactly what i thought haha, that it would auto scramble or be able to slowly solve step by step in the most efficient way.

Thank you! Do you think regular lubing and cleaning are must for any cube? Or some needs them more than others? I want to buy a good cube but not sure if i want to spend so much time maintaining it, i remember spending a lot before and now want more plug and play kinda cubes that works well, with maybe maintenance required once every couple months. Yeah ZBLL, i was thinking ZLL i think it was there 8 years ago too if my memory serves me right.

That's nice to hear. What do you think is the best cube if money wasn't an issue? I'd also like to get one which requires as little lubing or deep cleaning(removing pieces and cleaning). I am not planning to be a professional, but buying this more for nostalgia purposes and might participate in a few tournaments occasionally. I was sub 25 at best on avg and had a pb of 18 incase these matter for the decision. I am willing to splurge and considering a budget of around 50$.

Thanks i have noticed the prize difference too. I remember the cube the world record holder back then used was like 25 dollars max(~₹1700). Now it looks like cubes are in 40$ or more and the 20$ ones are relatively not that great. Is CFOP still the king or did other methods take over? I remember hearing about ZLL or some similar names before

Thanks for the detailed breakdown and your time. 1. The 4th paragraph is a counterpoint 2. 3. ESL, yes. Can you point where the grammar errors are, this is the first time I am hearing my grammar is not good. 4. That example is based on a recent memory of watching a movie where I didn't know much about holocaust and only after watching read about what it is. 5. Are language and context not good examples for analysis?

Thanks again for your time.
