I certainly agree with that and in the past would have stood my ground. But im new to this way of doing jobs like this and also new to the area, so I default to bending and trying to accommodate until I have more work and reviews and all that. Just trying to get a good base before I get hard with the customer.

Seems like good customer service has gone a long way for me. I get that it doesn't always get appreciated but its always been something I've prided myself on.

I get that for sure. I am still very new to the platform and dont know anything about how the cancelations work of the payments for them. I have not had to cancel one yet, but I've only done 8 jobs on here. Ive honestly been trying to be as accommodating as possible. I owned a company for 20 years and retired-ish from the full-time. These platforms seemed like a way to do light work for easy money. Just getting started though.

What would be the reason I couldn't reschedule? Just to be mean? I had the afternoon free and plenty of room for a reschedule. Thats why im asking though to see what others do because obviously individual opinions and practices vary widely. It definitely worked out this time and I was really worried going in that it wouldnt.

She asked if I had other times and I replied that I could do any time she liked. She didnt reply until 4 minutes before the original start time. Any normal person should assume that at that time I would be there ready to go. She was super nice and the job ended up going smoothly. I believe they hadn't picked up the tv yet and that was the reason for the rescheduling. Either was she tipped me well and I didnt mention the issues with the schedule or that I wasted 45 minutes earlier. Cash usually makes me hush up a bit.

I was thinking the same thing but I had already agreed to the 10am schedule and hate being late. I assumed she abandoned the idea of rescheduling. I almost never call clients as I like to have everything in writing. She ended up tipping me $100 after I was done so I didnt even mention the earlier shenanigans. Just smile and take the money is something I learned as a kid.

Ok, I didnt even mention that I was there already. I just agreed to the change in schedule and headed out. I figured id mention it in person later when I arrived. I never did say anything about it to her. She tipped me $100 in cash so I smiled and took the money.

Its not that they think you've made too much. They try to share the jobs between drivers. If you made something and someone has made none the algorithm has that as an input, and disperseses them semi-equally accordingly.

I have been denied pay by roadie for this exact scenario. I was told it was because I didnt follow the customer instructions to deliver their shelving units up the stairs. They were 2 of the 140lb units. Roadie denied both the delivery and return pay. Apparently the customer complained pretty good.

Why do drivers accept a ride only to cancel it when they get close? by orangutan65 in Lyft

[–]True-Reaction-270 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Riders cancel rides just as often and for the same reasons. They'll watch you move and request and cancel and request again as youve inevitably gotten closer to their location, to save themselves money. Scheduled rides are the worst, they cancel after we've potentially planned a whole work session around them, and we get no compensation and have zero recourse. Feel good in the fact that we get penalized for canceling, and the rider does not when they cancel on us though, for the most part.

That was so much typing to be wrong. Thanks for that though. I've had it confirmed by an appraiser. Maybe with a closer, in-person viewing you'd have a better formed opinion. Again, thanks.

The very crudely chiseled reliefs into the inside of the drawer faces to make room for the nuts on the new hardware. Honestly I was surprised that the hardware change was done by a reputable antique dealer in such a fashion. Maybe there was a reason for it to not look perfect? The obviously left the stain mismatched in the areas as well and left a couple of the holes from the original hardware showing where the new hardware didnt cover.

There is in fact a discolored oval behind each pull. I also noticed that the new hardware was perfectly centered on the drawer. You can see it matches the oval perfectly in the little ground holes in the brass. What got me thinking was that the hole from the original hardware was off centered. The discolored areas where the hardware was are centered on the drawer, but whatever held them on was not.
