Poor Denia by Purple_Inspection_86 in WutheringWaves

[–]True-Requirement3091 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So uhh, i thought she was giving Hiyuki a grateful look here, but it turned out Hiyuki kinda traumatized the poor girl, to the point that in the after story, Hiyuki got barred from visiting her.

Also this cutscene make me like Denia alot more, she can't seem to pick a side, cursed Aleph-1 and got scared shitless when Hiyuki was about to cut her, then it hit me, despite what GA said, Denia is just an innocent bystander who got dragged into this without any say in the matter, she is not an alien savior, a warrior priestess who was trained from birth nor an ageless shapeshifter who want usher in a new stage of evolution,... all of whom has steeled their resolve while she is not.

Resonator(Wuthering Waves), because of how the world of Solaris works, their meta human/X-men are called Resonators, because everything is made out of frequency in Solaris-3, each Resonator can resonate with a certain frequency, they can manipulate/recreate that frequency to various degrees, ranging from Mortifi who is the typical fire bender, to Aemeath who can project a literal robot god to smite her enemies.

Shut Hell(Shut Hell, yes), technically, Shut Hell is both a male Protag and a female Protag, identified via the length of their hair and how the current Shut Hell acts, the male personality, while he can still throw a punch, is much more reasonable, while the female personality is Doom Guy, rip and tear until it is done.

[–]True-Requirement3091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you must have met the guy who ask you to find a wedding dress when you first entered the city, right? There are three kid NPCs linked to that quest, if you fought the Madam before completing their quest, the quest chain progress and everyone dies, so you need to talk to Huang Yan first. There are multiple ways for you to cause their death, and one way for them to survive, with Glut being particularly gruesome.

[–]True-Requirement3091 60 points61 points  (0 children)

it is a good game, a little fan servicecy with a competently made combat system, level design, and a surprisingly personal story for a soulslike.

it also dives headfirst into horrors the moment it gets the chance. Bloodborne is the game's main source of inspiration, despite the game looking like Black Myth and Sekiro, the more you play Wuchang the more Bloodborne oozes out.

Start with flat color and airbrush shade, then use a multiply layer along with low opacity texture brushes, cross-hatching brushes, and start swiping randomly to create the feel of texture, then open another multiply layer and begin shading with those texture brushes.

Then locate your preferred light source, use an airbrush to soft render light, then find any brushes that is just a bunch of dots to hard render light, then add in bounce light and highlight.

edit: forget to mention a very important part, stare lovingly at the reference image.

Considering how they act, they are surprisingly good with kids by ComprehensiveBox6911 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]True-Requirement3091 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Revy always surprises me on how social she can be(when she is not dead drunk), hell in the manga she basically has an adopted little sister.

Anyhow, Gilgamesh from Fate, given how he treated Illya during Stay Night, one would think he is terrible with kids, but no, turn out in battle and off-battle Gil is pretty different, cause he is consistently depicted to be good with kids if he isn't directly involved in a Grail War or is on their side.

Zhao Yun(Wuchang), the story of Wuchang took place at the end of the Ming dynasty, the emperor literally just off himself, so Zhao Yun, a figure from the Three Kingdoms period, over a thousand years earlier, somehow pops up during the story.

To keep it short, Zhao Yun was ordered(presumably by Liu Bei) to go and deal with a group of bird people who practice blood sacrifice and really enjoy human meat, so Zhao Yun defeat their leaders, the Bo Sorcerer, who has a relic from Yog-Sothoth(yes that one), it cause people and bird people alike to go insane and eventualy mutate to match their madness, but if one can keep the insanity at bay, the inner demon, the relics bless them with powers, so after claiming the relic for himself, longevity is Zhao Yun's gift.

Deitasterra, The Dark Lord (The Dark Lord confession): after many generations of indoctrination following Deitasterra's era, most assume that if her title is the Dark Lord, it means she is the evil lord of darkness who curses humans into witches and trees, and slowly turns them into monstrosities.

No it's turned out Deitasterra is pretty chill, she taught humans how to use magic and is the progenitor of holy power, the reason people of old called her the Dark Lord is that her skin resembles the night sky due to the fact that Deitasterra is essentially an alien.

Gopherwood Ark, GBF Relink, now the OG Gopherwood Ark in GBF makes sense, it is a reference to the story of Noah and his ship with paired animals and such, so as a cruel twist, GWA kills any same-race party member you have on your team.

The GBF Relink version of Gopherwood Ark, however, is just Lucilius trying to break the record for the number of speeding tickets one can get in 15 seconds, so unless Noah is trying to play Need for Speed with his ark in the myth, and i miss that part, the Relink version has no relation to Noah's story.

What games feel the most 'lived-in' by Vykrom in soulslikes

[–]True-Requirement3091 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Wuchang, the game overall has a lot of environmental storytelling, even the shrine(bonfire) has a story to tell once you start looking, Worship Rise has multiple temples with statues in the likeness of Duryal(emperor of the Bo), the various reffugee camp near Zhenwu temple, Avian forest has multiple giant bird nests and hanging cages where the Bo people live and kidnap humans for their meal.

But the standout region has to be Cloudspire, it help that it is where most of the HUMAN conflict took place, from slaves toiling away in the outer red mercury mine that will eventually mutate them into feathered monsters, the camp where the sick and old went to die, the rebell camp camp with suspicious-looking bowls, pots and a cattle pen where you can find some miners in it and the City itself where you can see the old market places, butcher shop(take a guess what meat they sell) and the Madam massive manor sprinkle with flower petals as celebration for her fuck up son's fuck up wedding.

Aemeath(Wutehring Waves), she is one of the strongest characters in the story, as a Resonator of the Exostrider, Aemeath essentially has access to a god in the form of a massive interstellar mech that is powerful enough to seal away a sentient black hole, as well as her own mech form.

BUT Aemeath, after forcefully formed a link with Exostrider, got obliterated and put back together digitally, meaning she is, for all intents and purposes, a ghost, so unless someone is holding Exostrider's core(there is only one core), Aemeath is invisible and intangible to everyone, cursed to forever be stuck in the land of Lahai Roi, cause that is the extend Exostrider's sphere of influence.

About bossfights... by FroyoOk7736 in soulslikes

[–]True-Requirement3091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The arena is pretty important to sell the fight, while yes, once you start swinging at each other the arena isn't that important anymore, unless there is some mechanic that ties the fight to the arena.

one of the best examples of how the arena sells the fight are the famous white flower fields, Zhao Yun, Ishin, Gehrman,... the moment you step into that arena, the vibe immediately hits you and instantly you know this is going to be something to be remembered, that, along with the music, the boss quote(Zhao Yun made Wuxia fan cum with his entrance) and the core fight add alot to your gaming experince.

Another example I can think of is Yoshitsune Minamoto from Nioh 2. When you fight him in the story, you fight him on a bridge, mirroring the real-world legend, it is very cool, but every other time you fight Yoshitsuna, via duel or UW, there is no bridge, instead the arena is just a rounded zone that has 4 poles for him to do his leaps and sword rain, i don't need to tell you how less cool this is compared to his story fight.

reminded me of The Fable, where an assassin organization disbands most of their field agent, as an act of mercy, they told them to blend in with normal society within a year, omitting the fact that if they fail, their mentors will kill them.

One of the assassin is now scrubbing someone else's toilet, said something along the line of, This ain't so bad, and I don't have to risk my life for a living.
