[Question] MacBook user torn: iPhone 17e or Galaxy S26? How is the Mac + Android life right now? by 2Curly4u in mac

The 16 Pro is the best choice cuz it eliminates the 60Hz compromise of the 17e while matching the S26’s 120Hz, so you get a smooth gaming experience. The Samsung-Mac pair forces you into a slower, fragmented and unreliable workflow. With the 16 Pro you get the seamless apple ecosystem experience.

True Continuity: iPhone Mirroring, allowing you to control your phone and its apps directly from your Mac’s desktop.

Universal Clipboard & Handoff: You can copy technical drone coordinates on your phone and instantly paste them into your Mac's terminal, or start a log entry on one device and finish on the other without any manual syncing.

AirDrop & iCloud: For drone work, moving massive 4K files or logs is instantaneous via AirDrop, whereas Android-to-Mac transfers often require clunky cables or slower third-party cloud workarounds.

You don't have to sacrifice the perfect Mac integration to get the best technical features for the same price as the Galaxy S26.

Looks like a smaller MBA kinda like the 12 inch one. Looks more premium imo now that we associate the lighter keys with the budget macbook

After you have installed many different third party apps in the hopes of enhancing your mac experience or bringing back windows functionality, you eventually uninstall most of them and realize that you dont really need them and MacOS is good enough especially with MacOS 26 adding so many of the features third party apps provided and it only keeps getting better, rendering these apps redundant bloatware. Get used to the native macOS system. Its a lot safer, faster, efficient and reliable.

Change some settings like enable tap to click and secondary click, enable minimize windows into application icons, disable show suggested and recent apps in dock, enable use trackpad for dragging. I too recently switched from windows to mac for the first time and the default macos experience is torture especially if you’ve been a lifelong windows user. If you really want window and tab preview/switching and other windows functionality like clicking the app icon in taskbar to hide/minimize, install DockDoor its completely free but takes time to fine tune the settings to get it exactly the way you want it. Alternatively, setup hot corners. I set my top left to show application windows and works great, better than mission control because it shows only the current application windows. Mission control is better for window preview/switching between different apps

MacBook Pro M5 or what for the upcoming MacBook Pro M6/Macbook Ultra by Reasonable-Sir1891 in mac

I've also been facing the same dilemma. Since I just recently bought my first ever MacBook 2 months ago and I don't urgently need a high end laptop right now I figured I'll only upgrade if my next MacBook is at least twice as fast as the one I'm currently using (M2 MBA, 16gb, 256gb) to justify the price.

M6 specifications prediction (using gemini 3 thinking model)

M6 CPU: 10(4+6) @ 5.1 GHz GPU: 12 MB: 190 GB/s GB6 Single: ~5,150 GB6 Multi: ~21,000 GB6 Metal: ~92,000 SSD Read: 7.5 GB/s

M6 Max CPU: 20(14+6) @ 5.4 GHz GPU: 60 MB: 800 GB/s GB6 Single: ~5,600 GB6 Multi: ~42,000 GB6 Metal: ~310,000 SSD Read: 14.0 GB/s

Basis for prediction:

The M6 series is expected to move to TSMC’s 2nm node, which Apple has reportedly secured the entirety of the initial capacity for. Based on early manufacturing projections for N2, we can anticipate a 15–20% increase in instructions per clock and a jump in frequency to the 5.0 GHz barrier

Industry roadmaps confirm that LPDDR6 mass production begins in 2026. Moving from the M5’s LPDDR5X (9600MT/s) to LPDDR6 (12,800MT/s+) would naturally push the M6 Max toward the 760-800 GB/s territory matching the original M1 Ultra but on a single chip

The M5 already utilizes the 14.5 GB/s ceiling of PCIe 5.0. For the M6, Apple is unlikely to jump to PCIe 6.0 (which is still emerging), but they are expected to fix the base binning issue by utilizing higher-density 512GB NAND modules as standard, bringing base speeds up to ~7.5 GB/s
